Just picked up a pair, not knowing anything about them just knew they looked special, from Good Will!!!! 26$. Looks barely worn and the treads are still 100% can still see the factory hash marks! Now I know I have a true gem! Fits like a glove!
My wife and me are both hiking those and we couldn’t be happier! Super comfy, very durable, fantastic backpacking shoes and truly quality made - and not to forget: great looking Italian style! ✌️👌👍
Hi! I have not had that issue! I haven't had them as long as you either. During the most demanding trip that I did take them to, they stood up very well. The trail was covered with sharp rocks, and we climbed uphill for long periods of time. The soles show almost not sign of USE however. There is just a little breakdown of the lugs on the very tip of the shoe.
Very nice boot. Buy a box of band-aid and put 2 on each of your heels and 1 on your little piggy. For at least 10 hikes. That will help shape the leather to your foot and definitely will take away hot spots. I do this with all my work boots and hiking boots. Night N Day difference
Actually, at the beginning of every season, yes they do, but once I get going, it gets a lot better. For example, I just went for a long trip on the West Coast Trail in Canada, feet were very hot and hike difficult, I did get a blister. But so did everyone else in the party. I don't know if the blame goes to the boots or to the conditions/hike. :) Hope that helps.
I would say so...but that also really depends on where you are stepping. If you step on a branch that snaps, it doesn't matter how quiet your shoes are, but yes, they don't squeak or anything like that.
These boots are the BOMB ! ..... had mine now for 6 months and they are far and above any other hiking boot i have ever owned. Super comfortable and DEF waterproof ! Great Review by the way !
I think this could be just a fit issue. You can tighten them enough to fit, but you may have to use a technical lacing arrangement. Again, this could be due to the volume of your ankle.
Thank you for your review, it is very comprehensive and I agree. Been watching videos of this boot because today, after 5+ years of wearing exactly the same model, on ice, snow, rain, mud, dirt, leaves, tarmac, you name it, I have realized how comfortable and awesome they still are. The front was a bit worn out so I have coated them with a layer of technical wax (Nikwax) and I couldn't believe they actually look so good after so much life. Great companion to any outing, enjoy them!
Bought them in May, they are superb, no blisters at all for me e no break-in was necessary. Use the zamberlan cream hydrobloc to take care of leather (Zamberlan sent me two tubes for free, because i cannot find them!!). Great company and made in Italy too.
I love the boots but have had issues with the vibram soles. With hard daily use the lugs, on the heel, detached from the mid sole. Also, the lugs on the front are very flexible and have started to tear away from the sole. Have you had something similar happen? Awesome video! Thanks for posting. I do love the boots. After 3years The Vioz GT are still water proof and putting them on is like seeing an old friend. A friend I have always had a good time with. See you on the trail! -cKw
I bought a pair of Zamberlan hiking boots about 20 years ago. They lasted about 10 years and I really like them, but I wanted to try something new so since then I've had Asolo, La Sportiva, Merrell and Salomon. IMO the Zamberlans are the best of the lot, although I liked the Asolo, too. I'm in the market for a new pair now and am looking at either the 996 Vioz or the 1030 Sella.
Have these boots. Hiked on the Zugspitze in Germany and in the Smokies. Great boots, but I've learned to leave the foot area a bit loose and isolate the lower foot using an over-the-top loop on the first set of hooks. Then I tighten the ankle as much as needed. Works great for me.
Richard Caniglia Hello from Greece! I wanted to ask you about the durability of the soles. Have you experienced any unusual wear because the rubber seems to be a little on the soft side. Thanks!
Jimmy Zulu They seem to be wearing just fine. I'm not worried. The leather is a bit easy to scar, but the soles are wearing well. I've only got a few hundred miles on them, so can't speak beyond that.
Thanks...your vid helped me select the new Vioz Plus for my duck feet. Lathrop & Sons recommends these for us bowhunters and claim the soles are softer so do not squeak like some harder outsoles. Are these boots pretty quiet? When you're sneaking up on big game, that's pretty important.
Has anyone had issues with the fit of the upper not wrapping snug around the ankle? I just got a pair the heel seems snug and I like the toe room but I'm concern that the upper doesn't wrap tight enough. I have to lace it pretty tight. Or is this just a break in issue?
I bought a pair DEC 2014 , after watching this review. I walk my dogs every night. off road, rocks. long grass , by lake and in water and so far these boots haven't let me down . the tops of the boots (tips) lost their finish very soon after I bought them but its made no difference to boots . after having a few different brand boots these are my fav so far but will have to last a few more years yet to win that review of best ever boot
Thank you, I have a pair and am very happy with the fit and how your feet feel at the end of the day, they are one of the best walking boot I've owned. The only little issue I have is the rubber feels a little to hard for steep rock. I am shore the souls will have a long life but I pull on my 5/10's if I am going to be rock scrambling.
HI mat iv watche alot of your reviews and bought most of the gear you highly recommend just waiting for mu voiz to come hope they are as good as you say. brilliant reviews
We did it a couple years back - extraordinary hike. Takes some planning though. (we have a video of our trip here: ua-cam.com/video/uceys4Z7VHk/v-deo.html)
How do they feel after some break in?!! I want to get them but they seem way too stiff and maybe heavy? I appriciate the support but can you walk distances with these boots? Thanks in a advance
@@greekveteran2715 very confortable after a break in. They still are stiff around the ankle, to provide support, but are still confortable. I have used the on 18km + hikes and are still my go-to books for mountain hike.
@@mat-ventures I'm ordering them! I can't find a better hiking boot, most are either too heavy or too light to hold and support. "Aku Slope micro", is the other one I was looking to, but I don't think they come close to Zamberlan. Thank you very much for the help!! Happy new year!!
THEY ARE DESIGNED FOR MOUNTAIN TRAILS! i MENA THE LIGHT TO HEAVY WALKING TRAILS NOT CLIMBING TRAILS. That inlcudes hiking from cabin to mountain cabin on all the officail mountain trails that exist in the Austrian, Italian or Swiss Alps (serious mountains rranging form 2000 metyers high to 4800 m). That is something different then the Industry Standard combat boot or survival boot!
Also - at 4 minutes we are told that these are NOT hiking boots, they're backpacking boots. Er, what? Clearly the useless, gibbering presenter doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.
OK - stop at 15 seconds!! DO NOT buy these boots. Why? Because no decent boot on the market today needs breaking in. That's it. Finished. Secondly, this bloke says that breaking in these boots is 'brutal' Avoid at all costs - you have been warned!!

You do know that grey lining isn't the gore tex right?

Yep...it's right under that...but I believe the Gore-Tex itself is actually grey...it looks like a plastic material.
The hike was nice. The boots gave me some blister...it takes about 20 miles to break these in (in my case). But after the break-in they are beautiful.

How is the goretex supposed to work when it's leather all the way around? Where would the moisture go to escape?

How does it perform in warm weather.????

The movie is quite old. What is your opinion of these shoes at the moment? How long did they last? Do you have a photo?
Still great! I used them much less now, but fully functional and look nicely aged with some show cream in place.
How did these performafter the break in period? Can you do distances in them, or they are way too heavy and stiff for hiking? Thanks in advance
Ooops ! You forgot to put the weight on screen at 7:10 ;)

Great review! What kind of watch is it you're wearing???? Thanks!
Casio Pathfinder, PAW-5000
I have those since november 3rd 2019. I like them but they're very long to break in. I really hope that the blistering will stop eventually.
Are the heels still burning?
Great review, and great looking boot. Thanks!
"The weight of the boot is right here ..." -- and all I could see is a human palm.
Excellent boot been using them for years this model is excellent very light weight
Love the boots, just got mine.Hey What's up with those pants they are sweet!
Do you still use this boots? Are they still 100% waterproof and really indestructible?

Awesome review I have been looking into Zamberlan I think I will pull the trigger now on a pair
Really good and thorough review! Thanks a bunch since it helped make my choice in boots! (I bought these!)
Thank you!

Zamberlan and a truly Italian products and an excellent quality price is enough to make a comparison with a timberland hahaha
Timberlands are garbage.
Just bought the same straight from Italy
I wear these to the club.
Great review anyway, sad it wasn't already there when i have chosen my boots ;-)

Italian quality
Yes
I want to wear these right of the guys feet
nice vid

Lol.
Just add the implied "merely" before "hiking boots" and all will be illuminated.
You sound like a city boy
He clearly means that they are meant for hiking while wearing a heavy backpack for multi-day backpacking trips....not day hikes
