- Andreas Gursky (born 15 January 1955) is a German photographer and professor at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany.
He is known for his large format architecture and landscape colour photographs, often using a high point of view. His works reach some of the highest prices in the art market among living photographers. His photograph Rhein II was sold for $4,338,500 on 8 November 2011.
Gursky shares a studio with Laurenz Berges, Thomas Ruff and Axel Hütte on the Hansaallee, in Düsseldorf. The building, a former electricity station, was transformed into an artists studio and living quarters, in 2001, by architects Herzog & de Meuron, of Tate Modern fame. In 2010-11, the architects worked again on the building, designing a gallery in the basement.

Andreas Gursky's photographs are fascinating. Viewing them in actual size is a wonderful experience! I visited his exhibit at the museum Küppersmühle in Duisburg, Germany numerous times. Each visit was memorable.
Hello! thanks for selections of photographer's! I look with delight, even when I have seen almost all the pictures. I have an idea how to make the video more narrative: you can show the photos in chronological order, so the viewer can feel the stylistic changes of the photographer, which are very interesting from the point of view of the artistic career.
Thank you !)
In this moment probably the best photographer in the world
Thank you for this. I used to make fun of Gursky's "Rhein II" but now, thanks to your retrospective, I have a better idea of what he's trying to say. Your choice of music is all-too appropriate.
Excellent! Thank you!

It's funny how many photographers will denigrate Gursky's subtle and thoughtful imagery, with its exceptional use of photoshop and image manipulation, whilst lapping up all the excessively manipulated, over sharpened, high contrast and saturated landscapes, that they claim as art. And don't get me started on AI, although I imagine Gursky could put it to good use?
Luved that, thx
I'm a newbie, how does Andreas capture so much in 1 shot? Super wide angle 18mm ff?
His images are often quite heavily edited, sometimes from multiple shots.
He use a big format machine (4×5 or 8×10)
👍❤️
La inmensidad
What is the big deal in these photos?.... simply being in the right location appears to do it.
Since most of his photos are manipulated (e.g. removed objects/trees at Rhein II or doubled the jackets in Bergwerk or else) you can just say: his team is great in photoshop. Not more. BVB photo is real.
It’s silly…
