Awesome video Jerry. I’m still getting my confidence up to drag it along the bottom. Hate to decorate the reef here too much on the Big Island with your grubs. I’ve done that a little too much with the leads and never yet with the bubble but I know the moi never like hit the surface.
I have a 9' 6 tica salmon steelhead heavy with a 4K stradic with 20# braid I can bomb with a 1 oz lead. and happy with my set up. You post a 10 ft tica medium with a stradic 4K. I was wondering if you can get more distance with your rod with a 1 oz lead and I was wondering if you get more lure action with medium action pole
I guess with the medium I can feel the tip and can translate the grounds I’m playing, meaning I can feel the rocks/reef I’m hitting on the bottom while retrieving. I can slow it down or speed it up, also feel the bite and set it quick. It’s really preference, your setup will slay 🤙🏻
Hi Jerry--Mahalo for sharing your setup. I noticed that you are using pink braided line. Why did you chose pink vs. other colors? Also, is there any advantage in using pink fluorocarbon leader line?
I’ve used many colors, even the multicolored J-Braid. My honest opinion is I don’t think the braid color has any advantage over an other. I just noticed I always had “luck” using red over any other color 🤙🏻🤙🏻

You should do a small fg with a small piece of leader before you tie your egg lead and swivels so your braid don’t cut on the egg lead .

Or you could slide couple beads between the lead and swivel to cushion the lead in between the swivel 🎣

Mahalo Jeremy, yes bubble can at shallow spots too! just slow down the retrieve.
The best and most simple and effective whipping rig caught plenty papio like this but no mois yet and of course it was on campania grubs 🤙🏽🎣

yes i cast a lot farther when i switch up for bubble float or my menpachi rig.
Opinion on whipping with red bead?
It doesn’t hurt the setup at all. I personally won’t use it, but if I got some laying around on a re-tie then I might throw it on
