    to improve your rig, put a small bead in between the lead and barrel swivel so that when the lead bounces on the swivel it doesn't damage it

    Do you ever pre make rigs and how would you store them without tangling? Thanks 🙏🏼

    • @dannydhall5379
      @dannydhall5379 2 роки тому +1

      Yes I like to pre make rigs it saves a ton of time while your out fishing. A good thing to use is a chunk of cardboard you can wrap the line around the cardboard. There are a ton of videos out there on premade rigs. Goodluck

    • @dannydhall5379
      @dannydhall5379 2 роки тому +1

      After you secure the rig to the cardboard I store them in separate ziplock bags to prevent tangles and moisture from getting to the cardboard rigs.

    Awesome video guys. the wife and I are going to Maui in a couple weeks for a much needed vacation and I'm bringing a couple rigs with me to fish from the shore. After watching your vids I'm super stoked to get out on the shores. Been fishing freshwater for years but never thrown lines in the salt. Can't wait. What kind of retrieval techniques do you use for these rigs? Mahalo! keep the vids coming!

    • @poopaapounda1966
      @poopaapounda1966 7 років тому +3

      Patrick Woods definitely go with the bobber technique with a little shrimp or squid. Cast it out let it sit until you get bites as you get bites reel in the slack line very slowly until your bobber goes under the water once it does set the hook either the fish will get hooked or the bait will fall off so reel in after trying to set the hook because you might need to bait the hook again. good luck! (:

    All the 1st one is is a Carolina Rig,but let's slap a different name on it.You also should have a bead between the egg sinker and swivel to keep the lead from damaging the knot.
    The 2nd,I'd just rig up a slip bobber so you can fish any depth....

    Hey I was wondering if you could use a mark white lure with the whipping set up ??

    • @ShakaFishing
      @ShakaFishing  7 років тому

      For sure! You got to balance out the weight of the lure to the lead though, if the lure gets to heavy it pulls the line too fast and ends up with the lead just holding it back.

    Braddahs, thank you so much for making this video!! I've been looking for a vid just like this ever since I moved to Oahu. I did a lot of fresh water stream fishing and lake fishing when I lived in Cali(mostly for trout). But all that experience does me basically no good here, so it's cool to see the successful rigs in Hawaii, and be taught how to hook em up. Something tells me all that 2#, and 1# test line isn't going to do me any good here.🤓

    I keep getting stuck on rocks with my dunking rigs, i lost 7 rigs a few sundays ago. Long hook line, short leader? Or am i doing something wrong?

    • @ShakaFishing
      @ShakaFishing  4 роки тому

      You want the hook like short so that the lead is what is likely to get stuck. If it is super reefy you need enough lead line to allow the swivel to be above the rocks

    • @dannydhall5379
      @dannydhall5379 4 роки тому

      Probably poopa'a grabbing your hook and running rocks hinalea will also run rocks... question.. are you holding your rod after you cast or are you putting it in a rod holder witch gives fish more time to run into rocks... especially in snaggy areas I try not to use pole holders. Also in Rocky areas I make my lead line 5 feet long sometimes..

    Simple and easy to follow, good video - thanks. I'm heading out to Oahu in a few months and like to fish the surf. The c-rig is similar to what we do here in So Cal, but use a 18"-24" leader. I'll need to try a longer leader and see if that works better. We also use the motor-oil grub.

    What's your opinion on using 2 splitshot leads instead of egg lead in the whipping rig?

    • @shakadanny3518
      @shakadanny3518 7 років тому +2

      Allen Lin nothing wrong with using two split shots. I use them when i rum out of egg leads but you dont cast as far with the split shots so i dont recommended using lures with splitshots use bait instead with a slow retrieve stay low to the bottom but try not to get stuck. 👍🐟

    • @ShakaFishing
      @ShakaFishing  4 роки тому +1

      Mahalo! They would work on most poles that are lower on the power scale and lighter on the action. This video might be of help to you in the question ua-cam.com/video/HsEZtpRLEPY/v-deo.html

    That's what I'm talken aboot. Good job boyz. Have you ever tried a double hook set up? Tie in the first hook the tie in another liner at the bend of that hook say 18" and tie in another offering like a fly or another color grub on the bottom.

    Awesome video guys! Just wondering if the floater you're using has the wire going through the body with the eye on each side..if it's the cheap Wal-Mart action then the screw eyes will pull out when a big fish bites or you get reef-snagged. The screw eye threads are shallow and can get ripped out easily. May I suggest instead to attach the floater to the snap and tie the leader to one end of the swivel and the leader to the other end of the swivel so that the burden of fighting the fish lies with the swivel and not the screw eyes in the floater...i haven't had any issues with line twists or anything. Thanks keep the vids coming!

    What’s it mean when you guy’s say shoot shoots?

    • @shakadanny3518
      @shakadanny3518 6 років тому +2

      renato frattin has a few different meanings depending on the delivery of the shoots. So shoots in hawaii means like "yup! sounds good" or you can say "shoots then" that means "see you later alligator" but most times we just say shoooots!!! Which is a combo of sounds good see you later!
