  • This video is not intended to truly represent methods endorsed or actually used by any luthiers associated with Ann Arbor Guitars.
    The guitar featured was never going to be a playing instrument again for a multitude of reasons, not least of which being that the headstock was not only broken off, but entirely gone. I was fully expecting the hatchet to dig in to the top, at which point I would have made some comment about minor touch up being normal and we’d deal with that later, but my aim ended up landing more perfectly than I had initially intended.
    Please, don’t try this on any instrument that you actually wish to repair. I know this should go without saying, but you never know how many people might miss that it’s a joke.

    Use heat and do it slowly. It's far easier. Incredible to see that there is no protection for the guitar surface. Ok for an expert, but for a first try. Forget it!!

      I’m thinking of stepping it up and doing a new video with an SDS driver or an air chisel. 😆

    I have done this on Martins before I saw this vid. It is a good video and done this though I never used a tomahawk. nice video, Sometimes this is the best way to pop off a bridge.
