  • In not too many years, the number of publications among graduate school/faculty applicants, or among those applying for tenure and promotion seems to have increased considerably. Has this contributed to students’ waning interest in academic careers? Meanwhile, scholars have expressed significant concerns offering their reviewing or editorial services for no/low stipends when for-profit publishers reap a profit from this work. Are scientists publishing too much? Does the field benefit from a rapidly proliferating number of publications and outlets? How do for-profit and not-for-profit publishers differ? Are decisions being made by what’s best for science?
This webinar is part of an APA series called “Essential Science Conversations,” where panelists and audience members can engage in open dialogues about emerging topics in psychological science.
