    Hi Jimmy, I bought a Hadley Pro small Black after watching one of your video's and love it, took it for a big overseas trip last year and it lived up to everything you said about it, I'm glad I just watched this new review as I forgot it had a rear zipper compartment, I opened it and found a couple of my good SD cards I thought I lost, thanks for that

      Thanks James! haha yes I often found stuff in the zip compartment, us photographers always put random things in any storage we can find and forgot about them LOL

    Thanks Jimmy. I had been thinking about getting one of these bags and your video was extremely helpful to make my decision.
    By the way I saw one of your recent videos when you were considering giving up your work. Don’t even consider it. It’s a very tough year for all of us at the moment with family losses, travel restrictions, jobs becoming harder to find or manage. But always remember today is the tomorrow that we worried about yesterday. It’s an old saying . Also your father will always be with you, as is mine and as is Rob Treks . Keep up the great work you do and remember what you have achieved.

      Thanks Alan! Really appreciated your words mate. Billingham has a special place in my career and heart. It's the first 'proper' camera bag I had, and even though it got stolen, I got another one just to remember it. Of course, I rarely carry a small bag nowadays unless I am just by myself and not working. I use this bag for my daily shoot with a bit more stuff inside. I know it last, and waterproof for years. Yes, I always look up the sky when I miss my dad, knowing that he's looking down on me, being proud of me. Thanks for the encouragement.

    I started to watch your channel 2 years ago, I didn’t even know about Billingham and now I’ve got 4 of them, pretty soon a fifth one ;)

    I bought my Billingham Headly Pro exactly five years ago and it's perfect for my job as press photographer. It's dirty from outside, but that's nothing else then patina. I've a Digital too for just one camera and an extra lens plus the usual small stuff. Both in Burgundy Red. For more comfort I've shoulder pads. Have had no issues so far and their online shop is very friendly and shipping on time. Five stars out of five! Greetings from Denmark.

      thanks Paul! Thanks mate, and glad you agree too. I do love it and Billinghams do age well and grow on you with patinas and marks. People who look for mint and clean should look somewhere else :) But you can clean the bag but I just let the history write on my bag instead.

    The Achilles heel for the bag is the inserts. It’s a lint and dust magnet. I believe they should use the padded foam from the 5 series range for all of their bags. The padded foam didn’t attract or collect dusts as much as the one from the Hadleys.

    This navy blue is pretty.

      @@Red35Photography After days of hesitation, I chose the black one!
      Maybe it is the least representative colour of the brand, but I found it particularly classy.
      Edit: Fits perfectly a canon R5 and RF 70-200 mounted in vertical position, and a 28-70 on its side as if it was made especially for them. This bag is gorgeous.

    A few years ago I was in a Leica-centric secondhand camera shop with my black Hadley Pro. This shop is full of gear, bags, tripods and everything just lying around. There were a couple of tan Hadleys on a chair, which I thought were for sale, but I soon realized they belonged to a couple of customers who had put them down! That's one problem with these great bags: they are popular in a certain niche that yours may be identical to someone else's.

    Well I went ahead with the purchase of the Small Pro and I’m well pleased thank you for your video. I’ve just ordered the additional end pocket to slip another body in.
    Keep well Jimmy

    I'm not sure if I missed it in the review but is this a sponsored review? Bearing in mind that the video shows you shooting what is presumably an advertising gig for Billingham it makes me wonder? I still have a Billingham from my service in the Royal Marines during the Falklands and Northern Ireland campaigns and it still holds water (so to speak!) but, for my everyday use I do prefer the innovation, comfort and looks of my two Peak Design bags.

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Roy, no, if it’s sponsored, I would have to declare it. I do review bags in general and I do have a passion for Billingham and yeah, kind of a collector thing, sadly :)

    7:15 materials/concept: no fiddly raincoat, no waxed materials (none needed): no greasy fingers smudgeing my gear! I use a small DigitalHadley, pure simplicity; I only wish it had a flat pocket at the back (for a street plan or guide book).

    Love the look of the bag but would it hold an E-M1X? It looks as if the main compartment is too narrow for a mirrorless camera with attached battery grip. Is anyone able to confirm if that would fit?

    bottles and tripods: You can't store a bottle easily accessible, side pockets are missing. The additional side pockets that can be attached are closed at the top and probably rather intended for further accessories. Can you attach a tripod? If so, how sturdy and easy to use? I found it a bit irritating that the issues were not addressed at all.

    Hi Jimmy, a bit off topic, but in your reviews I always find myself envying your (non Olympus) camera strap, the leather and fabric one. What is that?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 роки тому

      Hey Dean, no worry, the camera strap I had on an Olympus leather strap. You can still them it but it has to be kitted with the camera bag. I can see it in Olympus online store in UK and Europe but not sure other regions. I've had this straps for years and it's my favourite strap.

    I currently use a ThinkTank Retrospective 7 (and: have used Retrospective 5 and 6). What is the size of this one in comparison?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 роки тому +1

      Very similar in size. Billingham is slightly 'wider' but narrower, both have the same height. So volume wise is probably exactly the same. So depends on what you have, wider bag allows you to pack more if you don't put big body cameras in it. For me, it fits well with my M43 kit, including the 40-150 2.8 pro with that massive hood without a problem. In fact, the middle has enough room to carry EM1 with 12-100 lens, though I fitted mine with 17mm 1.2 usually plus two more primes on the other side, then other accessories in the front. You know how it goes with canvas bags, it does take a bit of time to 'break in' and once does, you can squeeze in more.

    • @berntlie6799
      @berntlie6799 3 роки тому

      @@Red35Photography I normally carry the EM-1iii with the 12-100 + the 25/1.2. To this, I add glasses, my Kindle (for reading), some batteries, etc. The Retrospective 7 has room for a small laptop such as the Dell XPS 13, or similar. Which is nice, in cases when I combine job (PC), photo, and reading.

    Hi Jimmy, to carry a em1m3, 12-40pro, 40-150pro and a prime. Do i need a Hadley pro or the Hadley small pro?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 роки тому +2

      You want the Hadley Pro. Hadley Small Pro is just a little tight for 40-150mm pro, it will fit if you don't carry the hood. As you can see, if you want the hood, the Hadley pro is perfect, and you have spare room for a water bottle :) if you don't need other lenses.

    You're such a Nice guy Jimmy. If you ever Come to Gothenburg, Sweden, you're welcome to stay at my place. I'm a singel parent with two adopted daughters from China. I have a bed sofa you can sleep on, so you can sleep there if you want to. In that case you don't have to get into a Hotel, which is expensive in Sweden. Unfortunately I can not accomodate all your family, since I live in a compartment with two rooms and a citchen.
    Best regards, a UA-cam follower from Sweden, Niklas.
