    love how the keys are layed out really smooth and nicely, as opposed to the akko alice

      I'm deciding between these 2 keyboards currently in how the hump in the middle off this keyboard feels when gaming

  • @ThePierdevara

    Keyboard just came in. First impressions, this thing is premium. Typing experience is amaaaazing, but the programming experience is pretty bad. The ALT and WIN keys are weirdly placed and it's not comfortable to hit the shortcuts, copy, paste, jump word, etc. The CMD/ALT key on the sculpt was perfectly positioned for the way I keep my hands on the keyboard. I will have to get used to it. The ~ key is a 3 key combination press, tough to hit, and often used in linux/mac.
    The wooden wrist pad is decent, I'm going to add some really thin magnets to it so it sticks to the keyboard, and glue some raisers in the front to give it a negative tilt. I think it will reproduce the sculpt feel quite well.

      I’m thinking about doing the same thing. Did it work out to get a negative tilt with the wooden wrist rest? How did you do it? Wondering how to get the two parts stay together?

    • @ThePierdevara
      @ThePierdevara Рік тому +1

      @@sighup124 So far I've done 2 changes that I'm super satisfied with:
      1. I found some small stick-on door stoppers that were the same length as the width of the wrist rest. I put them on backwards so they raise the edge of the wrist rest. It's a very very slight negative tilt, mostly horizontal. This change is AMAZING, feels very ergonomic and very stable, just like the sculpt.
      2. I remapped the left spacebar to cmd, the left win key to space. I had to adjust when hitting space with my left thumb but the comfort of hitting shortcuts now is great.
      In terms of getting the wrist guard to stick to the keyboard, I tried double-sided tape, it stuck for a while, but detaches fairly easy. The negative tilt also gives an angle to the surface of the wood touching the keyboard, they are not pressing against each other perfectly so it's hard to get a good stick with the tape.
      I find that the wrist rest stays put 95% of the time, it's not that annoying that it's not completely attached.

      @@ThePierdevara Thanks a lot for your reply! I'm trying to imagine what the door stopper solution looks like but not sure I got it right. Do you mind uploading a picture or two somewhere from bottom/side angle? Did you raise only the palm rest and left the keyboard itself as it is? The pam rest does look quite small to me and I wonder if my tall hands can actually fit on it.
      Also how did you remap the keys on OS side or does it support QMK or so?

    • @sighup124
      @sighup124 Рік тому

      @@ThePierdevara Weirdly I got a notification that you replied to my other question but can only see this part: ""Sighup I used QMK to remap left shift to right ctrl (it can be any key you never use), then on the OS side I used Karabiner to remap right ctrl to left cmd and left cmd (win key) to" in the notification and when I open it, the comment doesn't show :/ maybe it got deleted or so IDK :/

    In the case of a keyboard, 'flex' means the bounciness of the mount, in this case the gaskets, meaning the whole key cluster. As you pushed it, it seemed it had a bit, which is good, because the typing feel is not too rigid, but tbh, it's up to personal preference. Some people like it rigid (no flex), some people like a bit more bounciness and some people like it very bouncy.

    Great review but i kinda wanna point out a couple of things just to help. One the keycaps are made out of pbt, you said dye sublimation which is the method of getting the legends on the keycaps. Another thing about the keycaps, if you want the see through legends just swap the keycaps from your old ducky keyboard and swap them? Easiest mod there is. One last thing, i know this like is just more of a review of the feker alice but it would be pretty nice if you were able to go into the nitty gritty bits of the board like the gaskets, modability and like just some more keyboard stuff like stock stabilizers and stock switches. Good review just it would be pretty nice seeing these things

      Thanks for the feedback. I do have another keyboard coming my way for review and will pay more attention to the spec sheet. However, I'm not keyboard enthusiast and as you have clearly pointed in the various replies I don't seem to know what I'm talking about. I'm just an average tech enthusiast putting out content, there are other channels where it's dedicated to the specs. I won't be that guy going into the nitty gritty.

    I don't hate the ducky keycaps, I would swap the alpha keys with the fekkers alphas to get that RGB see through on the lettering.

    • @zatozatoichi7920
      @zatozatoichi7920 10 місяців тому

      Doesn't look nice with the dye-subbed modifiers and all that second layer lettering, which is totally obsolete for the Feker. Not to mention it has south facing LEDs, so the shine thorough won't look as good as on the Ducky, which has north facing LEDs.

      It's pretty nice for office and everyday tasks, but if you intend to game with it, it's not really a good choice. Mine had some issues sometimes stuck keys (not physically, and it can be dissolved with some Windows tweak) and the wireless connectivity, and while this is subjective, I had to mention it.
