I enjoy how the violins don't overpower the other instruments, especially the bass, it is very clear and easy to hear
Yea, I agree.
In most songs, the violins, especially the violin 1's are the most obvious and are the most heard, meanwhile, the audience is usually oblivious to other parts, especially the bass.
This piece really brings out the bass in all of the parts of this song, but more on Earth and I love that.
Richard Meyer really went above and beyond with this piece...
Every part fits its element *perfectly*
Earth sounds structural and commanding
Air is free and playful, while also being unpredictable in its melody.
The plucking of the strings represents droplets of water, but the rest flows so smooth like a river, or even a waterfall.
Meanwhile, fire is intense; fearful, like you're frantically running away from danger that's slowly, yet quickly closing in on you.
Everything about this piece is beautiful. Fire is by far my favorite, but damn... All of it is amazing. Props to Mr. Meyer!
I love how you can clearly hear all parts for each instrument. Many composers try to do this but it is extremely hard to balance out every part equally. with that said, Richard Meyer nailed it.
Edit: I JUST GOT A FRICKIN AD BETWEEN WATER AND FIRE.
happens every time on mobile :(
UA-cam recently added midroll ads to videos at 8 minutes, rather than the previous 10 min. Requirement
@@WillTheBassPlayer and why does it have to be at the worst time?
and kudos to the bass for actually being heard
earth is very very saucey
yes
the best description I've ever heard
Ong
And water is kinda like milky/creamy
I love how much viola is in this! Viola power!!!
@Ba113r same
I appreciate the Violas, even know I'm a violin player, I just love hearing the viola section play so beautifully!
VIOLA GANG RISE UP
Gross
Thats waht you think!
I love that the lead in to water is raindrops. One drop, then two, and it swells you into a flowing river
Air sounds so amazing and pretty but fire has to be my favorite part of the piece
Earth is so much fun to play
And water sounds so beautiful but it’s a bitch to count
@@kaitlynkearns1894 1-2-3-4-1-2-3 is the easiest way to do it for me
0:03 Earth
2:17 Air

@@burnbook3076 well yea but the adjusted one is easier for people
i love you for this
@@burnbook3076 man ur pfp made me sad. i miss chuu being in loona
The concept reminds me of The Planets, lol
With the 5/4 time signature for Mars, and all the flats
(the fact the first one was called Earth)
But this is really cool, glad it randomly popped up in my recommendations
Sort of, writing songs about the 4 elements (4 humors) has been a thing for ever, but that is a neat connection
at :55 it reminded me of jupiter
I love the transition from air into water, I also love the viola part in water
Melody the whole time babaaayy
this peice really shows how genious richard is. its so clear to tell that there are 4 elements being repersented in this peice from earth, air, water, and finally fire. each expressing itself with vibrant and much feeling. what made me feel so much join in this peice is when the third section(water) appeared it started as plucking and very short notes like water dropletts evertually ending up into faster smother bows like longer rain is being poured.
truly an unforgetable peice.
Earth and Fire are my two favorite sections - they have intense, yet beautiful tones, which I love in music. Very emotional and dramatic!
Yeah! Seems very few people like earth as much as the other sections, but I think it’s really good!
I really do like 'Water' and 'Fire'. Because on is very nice and smooth, the other is fast and epic
my favorite is water because the epic viola part, we get melody almost the entire time
Same
epic gamer moment
Bruh sameee
I love water bro
Bro that one bass solo tho at 6:00😫 I luv bein a bass player fr
I think that the cellos in earth are spectacular! Wow!
I love playing it, it's so fun
5:56 is so pretty
Omg your right! It’s really nice
it is, but the ad at the end of it isn’t pretty
5:22 these chords are absolutely beautiful
This and swamp thang are rly good
Richard Meyer’s pieces are really cool
So agreed.
@@JacksonHollo yeah
When do we get a piece about the 118 elements?
What would the last few elements sound like 🤔
Earth sounds kinda like Holstein's Jupiter peice, or atleast the melody.
@@naiche874 his name is Holst. Gustav Holst. A Holstein is a breed of cow
@@WillTheBassPlayer Yea
@@bean.774 The passages would probably last as long as their half lives haha
I love air it gives off a sense of curiosity and peacefulness like nothing bad is happening
I love the dies irae melody in fire. It really sets the tone of burning to death.
I am very excited to turn this into a concert orchestra piece.
7:43 probably the most epic part of the piece
Edit: coming back , I wrote this comment right after playing the piece in an orchestra, and wanted to hear the real thing. Coming back to this again, I was fingering along with the part I played, and realized that this may be my favorite orchestra piece that I've played yet
Loved playing this back in school. One of the most memorable pieces I played.
Yeah! My orchestra is playing it right now, not that we’re very good at it, but it’s a pretty enjoyable piece.
I listened to this piece two or three years ago in middle school and thought it was really cool, and now we’re actually going to play it! Im very excited :P second violin here
The fire section is so fire
Fire sounds so huge it makes me think it's an entire symphony despite just being strings
BASS!!
The fact that you can actually hear the violas in this
Water is so beautiful woahh❤️👄❤️
Everything changed when the fire nation attacked
o my god i love earth so much owo
I just love the dies irae in Fire
who the hell put that dislike
Earth and Water are my favorite because (in my opinion) they're the easiest to play.
They may be easy notes, it’s a matter of execution. The strong 5/4 beat of the cellos in Earth can’t be sloppy or the transition of notes in the slurs in any of the parts
Water as well, the drops can’t be too strong or weak, but just like the subtle drops in water.
Completely agree. They’re definitely the easiest though 😂
Love fire
Munni Begum, How can one not love the 'Fire' section
water (4:00) feels really emotional to me for some reason
made me cry
@@amylinde6769 ok then…. I just really likes earth.
strange to me because it seems like a lot of it is in the Lydia mode (the generally most uplifting of the seven modes)
2:45 whole tone scale
Wow I like the occasional use of dissonance and unique modes here.
oh my oh yes
0:03 Earth
2:17 Air
4:00 Water
6:07 Fire
leaving this here
Lol
We are playing this in my college orchestra and the 7/4 is a nightmare 😂 I mean we can play it and it sounds good but it’s a bitch to count lol
I love the harp part, les goo
Fire was the bomb
Earth: 00:03
Air: 2:16
Water: 3:59
Fire: 6:06
Really reminds me of ‘The planets’ by Holst
5/4 time exists????????
Yes. And 6/4 7/4 6/8 7/8 8/8 9/8 and countless others
I, personally, haven't seen a Richard Meyer piece labeled as anything higher than grade 4, which makes me wonder if that's the highest label he will give. This, Swamp Thang, and Voyagers We, Undaunted are all harder than most grade 4+'s I have seen so far (Perseus, Lyric Metal, Orion and the Scorpion)
Oh god i hate 5/4 time signature
Edit: wtf there’s 7/4 later on even worse 😳
What are these time signatures anymore?
Epic ones!
It also has 9/8
8/7
Joey Chen, how does that even work?!
The fire part kind of reminds me of the frozen and frozen II scores
can someone tell me which parts are earth fire air and water pls
k.m.g_ j.w.w the first one is earth then air then water and then fire
@@usetobethemagicpillownowit9130 thanks
Read the music!
Idk wut all yall say water is the upmost best way in front of fire >:D
I can't make 6:00 sound like that :(
Earth is fs the best one
Water and earth were the best
fire is super cool too IMO
