I will never afford such expensive setup, thanks for spending the effort on putting excellent music on your channel. It sound so detailed and rich in my budget system -Wharfedale diamond 10.1, ak4490 , clone MBL preamp, tda7498
Its sound is a little bit “mechanical”. Less than with all other Ortophone’s cartridges (which are no doubt rough). But... The sound is a little bit “processed”.
Excuse me while I pick up my jaw from the floor. WOW What an audio quality! Was in the market for Ortofon Black MM, I seriously need to up my game from that. Thank you!
Hi Bob, Very detailed sound and tremendous dynamics! Planet Of New Orleans is a great song. You may have told me this before, but is this an original pressing or a reissue?
Hello Rui! Planet... is my favourite song on the album. This is the 2014 Back To Black issue. I bought the box set of studio albums when it came out. I've been meaning to do something from the first album, and also Communique. I don't know about you, but I've never liked the recording of Making Movies (either the original or the remaster). The songs are good but they sound somewhat harsh and grainy to me.
@@MusicAndVinyl I bought the box set when it came out, too. I agree with your assessment, harsh sound and very little nuance or subtlety, Making Movies is the least impressive of all albums in the audio department. Probably some bad decisions were made during the original recording, not sure. Now that you mentioned it, i almost never listen to that album, and maybe unconsciously i never felt the urge of making a video with it. But it has some great songs on it like Tunnel Of Love, or even Romeo and Juliet, both were hits back in the day, and i remember listening to these songs on the Alchemy live album to the point of feeling saturated. 😱 The first album and Communique are both great, great albums, maybe my favorites, to me they represent the essence of DS. Love Over Gold is fine too. The last ones are perhaps more sophisticated and great too, but not necessarily my favorites.
The earlier DS albums had a somewhat raw feel to them, but by the time they became stadium rockers a lot of that had gone. I saw them in London in 1985 (which was around the time of Alchemy) and it was a great concert - at the Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo), so not a huge venue. I must get out Alchemy now, to relive the memories! Lol!

Ortofon xpression contributes the quality of the song ...
I keep thinking about lounge lizzards, for some reason.

@@MusicAndVinyl By the way, this album sounds truly exceptional on your setup, So clean and dynamic! Surely one of your best sounding vinyl videos!
@@MrVinylObsessive Thank you Rui! I'm very happy with the way this system is sounding now ;o)
Wondering how often you need to change the idler wheel to avoid wow & flutter issues?
Maravilloso LP, when Mark Knopfler solo ?
MEDIC! More great vinyl content needed!
I'm doing my best! ;o)
That's a unusual looking head shell
It's an integrated cartridge. Just plugs straight into the arm.
