PSY was the first kpop artist to hit 1 billion, actually PSY's Gangnam Style was the first music video ever to surpass 1 billion views. Yes Chicken Noodle Soup is a remake. J-Hope actually paid the original artist a lot of money to cover the song. It was the first song he listened to when he started dancing so it means a lot to him.
i remember in 2012, youtube didn't have the 1 billion display cause no other video had that many views. Also, psy was already a well respected artist in korea, he didn't just get success overnight he worked hard for it and it paid off.

BIGBANG where the biggest and most respected kpop group in the kpop industry, they where known as the kings and legends of kpop. They are still a pretty popular group to this day even though they don't drop songs like they used to do, and many idols look up to them. I also wanted to say G-Dradon is the leader of this group (BIGBANG) and he's a big rapper in the kpop industry you should check him and his group out.
So were Shinee, they were considered the prince’s of Kpop and we’re always at the top with Big Bang.

I highly recommend EXO. They really are one of the most relevant group out there since 2013. Now days you're not gonna see them that much bc some members are going to the military. But still, I think you guys should react to them, they're one of the most VERSATILE group with CRAZY VOCALS (they're even called the VOCAL KINGS in kpop). You can start with songs like: Monster, Love Shot, Tempo. DISCLAIMER: EXO is totally different from BTS, mostly bc EXO focus more in VOCALS so they have a lot of R&B based songs. So if you don't really enjoy vocals, you might not like it, but that's ok.
fun fact, quite a few kpop songs found their way over to the west in the early 2010's i think what it was was that we really didnt know like a name for them because i will be honest when i found out about some of these bands i was told they were jpop, mainly because all my anime friends showed them to me.

K/DA was a promotional group created using champions from League of Legends to promote new skins, they had real singers from America and Kpop artists to voice the characters (KDA signifying the terms, kill, death, assist bc they're all video game characters)

They were the biggest group for like a decade before groups like BTS blew up, and are still very relevant. Many idols like BTS, IU, GOT7, BLACKPINK, iKon, WINNER, Seventeen, Block B, G-Friend etc., have cited them as major influences.
Imo, they're the greatest live performers in K-Pop PERIODT. Epitome of stage presence and charisma and character. Check out their discography and live performances. They're suppper diverse.

They were labeled the greatest male kpop group by many important newspapers and magazines (ex TIME, ROLLING STONES, FORBES…), got on the front page site of Grammys (1st time for a kpop group), the first group to reach Billboard ranks back in 2012 and the first to get 100,200,300M views on a MV and much more.
In those times (2010s) UA-cam wasn’t a thing, even reaching a 50M was already a milestone of popularity for any group, and all the ones that appear in this compilation are hugely known in Asia and Europe, less in USA since the presence of an already huge vastness of artists (and also cuz you don’t really try to open up to a different category of music that is not English speaking).
SuJu and BigBang were def played in the West before. Cause before I got into kpop big in 2013 I had already heard the song Sorry somewhere. Incase no one else says it: this video is showing the CURRENT views of these songs, not how many views it had back in those years when it came out. So, the 2013 BTS mv's barely had views at the time but now all the fans are rewatching and changing views. Like I remember in 2017, we are bulletproof part 2 had less than 10 million views and now is at over 200 million because people NOW are watching it.

Second generation top4: girls generation; 2ne1; big bang; exo. - you need to check them out to understand how kpop has started (for example crazy videos and hiphop all thanks to big bang).

To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. Yes, the views are from 2022, not from the year the music videos were released. For you to understand how BTS are an anomaly, you need to dig into how big kpop companies just debut a new (very manufactured) kpop group and they get millions of views and awards right away, that's the reason why a lot of armys are very protective over bts and a bit salty when it comes to a lot of kpop groups. I recommend reacting to videos on the channel Boracity Magazine, super well spoken and with great info.

EXO was really but really popular group even more than bts since 2013 to 2017 (i'm not saing they lost their popularity but since they start they militar service and in the US they only know bts at that time more people get into bts), and there is a lot of old kpop groups that used to be super popular at those years and cuz in this videos they put the views of now it looks like only bts was popular, but they get a bit of atention in 2015 with run and i need you, then more in 2016 with blood sweet and tears and their popularity grouw up in 2018 as we know now.

I started being in Kpop in 2010. Kpop was not popular or even known in that year. They just started posting videos to UA-cam even UA-cam was not as big as it is now. Kpop was just getting introduced to international fans and audiences in 2010. So that's why the number of views is not super high. But those groups from 2010 to 2013 set the table for your favs that you have now to eat from.
And now they’re the most popular in the world, setting trends and opening doors for other groups too. Funny how passing the torch works like that.

You're completely right at certain parts, this video isn't accurate in the exact year the views are at, to which were most popular, the videos views are according to present day views not that years, so obviously if a group got popular and old songs blew up their songs were put in these sorts of videos, without them actually having those views the year they came out in. But these videos are great to find and listen to new groups especially if you don't have a lot of time to listen to a lot of different groups

Those views that bts got in 2013-2016 isn't actually that high before, after 2017 that's when they started gaining popularity international, and in 2015 they start gaining popularity too (in asia) because of their song called 'I need you'
Blackpink is the biggest girl group in the world right now and it's a fact. Also, Twice was big(never as BP) but their last comeback was kinda weak even in Korea, you are living in the past, there are many other girl groups more popular than them right now.

And yes blackpink's cb this year is not that good but whenever u ask ppl (aren't a kpop fan) about kpop either bts or blackpink is all they know (well sometimes bigbang, 2ne1 or twice) and fyi I ain't living in the past, the truth is the truth I met many people who knows kpop but not a fan of them and whenever I ask them how many groups do you know they always answer me with those groups that I list... I've been to many different country all of them are the same answers, well some mention other groups but commonly those 5 groups...

alot of kpop mv views come from fans streaming THE HELL OUTTA THEM so the view count doesnt necessarily amount to popularity tbh!! artists like girls generation, exo, hyuna, g-dragon etc were and still are huge today
