I would LOVE if you did a followup series on this with a couple example videos of some of these technique suggestions - what some mistakes look like and what the correction would look like. Even if there is a lot of individual variation between lifters, it would be really cool to see. Again, thanks for these videos, so many amazing, clear insights that are gamechangers.
Go to Elitefts channel and watch the Train Your Ass off series with Dave.. he does exactly that. Has a group of people perform the lift so u can see multiple body types, forms, and the corrections he has them make
Best thing about Dave: no dogma. He knows everyone's different. Anyone who hasn't watched the Train Your Ass Off with Dave Tate series needs to check it out. Tried the leg extension cluster set/sissy-squat-stand-squat superset. Freaking awesome, even without the lunges.
Watched each of these twice now, absolute gold sir! I just love the fact that you guys share honest information, no agenda or sales pitch behind this stuff. I remember an interview with Dave where he was on the verge of tears when the guy who was talking to him spoke about how good it is that his goal with training is to really help people, like sincerely help them. I love that 👏
@@improbro1124 ur gonna max out a week after u just hit a PR? Personally i would deload for a week, and try for the new PR in a month or 2. That way you can manage fatigue, and build upon your deadlift to have an even larger PR.
@@slatermauro2092 I've been lifting as a powerlifter for 3 years. No need to ever max out, I have maxed out like 3-4 times at most till now on every lift. You only need to max out when you are advanced or before a competition.
On his other recent video Dave talks about squat varients as a way to build the deadlifting muscles. So true. I've been training at home since Covid. Good barbell, enough weight plates for what I need, a rack and a bench. I've taken the time to really hammer my squat. I didn't deadlift at all for 6 weeks, put all that energy into squats, front squats, good mornings and hip thrusts. I tested my deadlift and did an easy triple with my pre gym closing weight. Very pleased with this outcome!
It's cool to see your son to be good in his own discipline . Greetings from France John ! A lot of guys around my place progress thanks to your videos includ me
Hi John, Absolutely superb video with David Tate! He was excellent when explaining the technical side of deadlifting as many people have shit deadlift technique! I'm so glad that David broke it down in to 5 simple explanations as technique is always everything! Thank you for making the video. Cheers, Billy
Ahhh omg nr3 tension. Now I get it. Thank you so much for explaining it!! You are supposed to get tense right before the bar leaves the ground to make sure you are in the right position. That's how you know it's a "good" lift:)
Nobody: Dave Tate: you can’t pack your neck because you’re a fricken Troll and your traps are up to your ears/body structure makes everyone look different 😂
Thanks Dave & John. On my chest day when I flat bench I do all the tips you said but now more so I tense the back more for a stronger mechanical lift. Thanks again 🙌❤️👏
When will granite supplements be available in England i cant find anywhere that sells your protien, Great content again as always best fitness channel on UA-cam 💪💪
Sometimes listening to Dave, if I look away for a couple seconds I feel like I’m listening to Aron Snyder, even his bluntness and no bull analogies. Wonder if Snyder trained under Dave when he was powerlifting.
I am very weak in conventional compared to close stance sumo, any ideas as to why? I have good technique in both. I have been told I have a long torso, might that be why? I can sumo 400x7 with narrow stance but only like 400x2 conventional. I am very weak in a regular sumo, might be a flexibility issue.
Damn. I deadlift looking slightly down, always have and it felt better. Every fucking thing said to look up or forward and I hate it. I'm doing it looking slightly down again. Thanks Dave. I also tried the super wide grip and it feels so much better in my actual back.
@Eastside Dumbbell me just deadlift.. squat way stronger than deadlift.. 315 around 10reps ipf depth check on squat but deadlift maybe 2 3reps on good day
Make sure you check out the whole playlist with Dave Tate: ua-cam.com/play/PLNAUreWTt_SghWOesxKjv5EWY33p1qNr0.html
John, keep up the great video’s. Looking good my friend!
"try out different things, see what feels good and go from there"
Great advice for the bedroom 👍
"If you're not ready don't go down" another good one.
@@LuckyStrikeLT I like "don't stay down for too long" LOL
Alexander has become so proficient at knowing where the yoyo is that he doesn't even have to look at it anymore.
1.Stance 1:50
2.Hips 4:20
3.Tension 5:20
4. Don't stay down too long 7:56
5.Head Position 9:40
You missed the yo-yo trick!

The Single most important thing I learned in the sumo deadlift is the simultaneous hip drive up at the same time you're pulling on the bar.

This was super helpful, thanks!
awesome series John! Just a little thought: maybe it could be possible to demonstrate the mistakes Dave is talking about?
Awesome as always!
Any suggestions to setup a more reliable ("faster") Hook Grip, to make sure you're not wasting to much time in the bottom position?
Thanx for the great content! The yo-yo clips are cool😎.
I want to see a yoyo trick from Dave.
You already saw it with his weight
Progressive overload is coming along well with the yoyo skills!!
Being ready to pull before you go down is actually a really good tip. I do waste a few seconds before I lift
Great content. The yoyo wizard strikes again! 👍
hell yeah! yoyo trick!
Last tip que : show the medal on your chest head Back chest t spine extend while dont arch Low Back
Those yo yo skills are insane
That yo-yo trick was loyal af!
Just in time!!! I’m hitting deads tomorrow 🤗

Man Alexander is a beast with that damn YoYo
actually lots of things to learn from the yoyo position
you guys should make a podcast, you two are sherlock holmes and Dr. Watson!
He was on the elitefts table talk
Does these tips mostly work on trap bar deadlift too? Thanks for the content John!

Will I be able to deadlift 700lbs+ if I can do this 9:12 ?? ;)
Alexander’s haircut looking real good
This got me from 200- 300 kilos just by correcting some issues and now it’s time to eat
I need to be as calm when I deadlift as Alexander is with the Yo-Yo! 🤙

I came for deadlift tips but now I want yo-yo tips
What about if my legs explode and my head falls off when I do deadlifts?
