If people think expressionism is real art compared to the renaissance masters, then ok. To me, art started its decline by the 20th century. Still, it's difficult to exclude other equally ingenious masters like Velazquez, Rubens, Caravaggio, Sargent and so forth. Any of these artists could have easily made this list. Then again, it's simply impossible to select a so called all time list of anything... reducing it to just 10 when there are an endless supply of extraordinary people, places, talent, etc. This sort of rating usually works most when the rating comes from its existing generation.
I'm no expert here, I just love to look at beautiful things that Da Vinci and Van Gogh did. Van Gogh has this distinct brush stokes you know it got to be his. And of course Da Vinci who an artist who defied boundaries unknown at his time to create masterpiece after another. 💜

Not a bad list, but no Titian or Caravaggio?
Or Giovanni Bellini?
Renaissance artist were left off
Really mojo best painters?
Why not?
Signed,
KG
I don't think it hits your target audience. I don't know not the best.
WatchMojo.com forget Raphael? ....

WatchMojo.com KG? and where is Mr. X
Rembrandt van Reijn and Vincent van Gogh is miss pronunced i am Dutch so yeah i noticed that imidietley She pronounced it so that its sounds French but they arent
Yea im dutch too and hes right. But dont forget the dutch dialect is pretty hard
Yeah specialy the G sounds
No, she definitely did not try to prononce it the french way.
(I'm french and the sounds she made saying "gogh" is not even in the french language). She geniuly tried Dutch but there are a lot of foreign names in this video, give her a break
Yeah ok but I only noticed it. It doesnt really sounds Dutch she pronounced it a little bit to soft. Dutch words are pronounced more harsh look at the Dutch G sounds alone sounds pretty harsh. (she did it by the second G in Gogh
Tell me one name, they pronounced right!
If people think expressionism is real art compared to the renaissance masters, then ok. To me, art started its decline by the 20th century. You can’t compare DaVinci Raphael or Michaelangelo to Picasso or Van Gough who were hacks in comparison. Sure they captured profound feeling, but skill is a factor, or should be. And art critics are literally insane. And putting Jackson Pollock in this video? Please stop!
Caravaggio was more important then Dali...
Pff, are you insane? And what the hell do you mean by importance, he clearly wasn't as captivating nor the imaginative genius Dali was.
@@levmyshkin5590 read an art book before claiming that
@@francescotrombetta8548 I have looked at both their artworks, and the works of many others. But why on earth would I need to read someone else telling me what opinions to hold about art? You are clearly not an artist. Develop your own taste before you talk to me boy.
Giotto?
Duccio?
Hieronymus Bosch was a remarkable artist and his Garden of Earthly Delights triptych is in my opinion one of the most intriguing and fascinating paintings ever created. I think he deserves a place on this list.
Vi siete per caso dimenticati di Raffaello e Caravaggio? Se proprio dovete stilare queste inutili classifiche, fatelo per bene.
I love Art. My favorite Goya. Dali. I love to try to copy their styles. I love Cubism. Van Gogh. Frida I love them all.
Aahh Hello? You left of the Greatest Caravaggio!
Caravaggio, Vermeer, Velasquez , Van Eyck, Jacques Louis-David, etc.....
Jean michel basquiat has been my favorite painter since I found out who he was
Exactly...why has no one mentioned him?
Not enough people know of his genius. Some of my favorites are works of his.
Move Goya, Cézanne ,and Renoir to honorable mentions and replace them with Caravaggio, Botticelli and Vermeer.
Additional honorable mentions are Hieronymus Bosch, Jan van Eyck, Hans Holbein, Rubens, Albert Bierstadt and Casper Friedrich, among others :)
Missing a funny painter from austria
where's raffaello sanzio? please, do you really think that goya or rembrandt are better than Raffaello? ahaha ;)

Steampunk Heretic Picasso!!! Number one!!!! He is the best!!! Always getting bitches!!!
no Caravaggio?
how bout Canaletto?
As a visual artist myself, I can understand to a degree the choices submitted here.
There's this really good Austrian painter, but he didn't take as a job, i forgot his name tho lol
apparently he was really famous
NO NOT ADOLF
And Caravaggio, Jan van Eyck, Rafael Sancio, Boticelli, Velazquez, Rubens, Durero, Fragonard, Gauguin, De La Tour, El Greco ???
Vermeer should be on this list...

Rembrandt should be number 3. Picasso and Van Gogh are both overrated.
Where the hell is my respect I drew a stickman in first grade
JMW Turner not even worth a mention, definitely should be on here somewhere
René Magritte deserves at least an honorable mention !
3 years late but very much yes
yes!!!
No way he belongs in top 10 of all time.
Wretchmongo comes up with another hilariously embarrassing and ill-informed list
Where do you think they got it wrong?(just curious to know your opinion)
pat45greg47 That could take me a few months to type...
Cruitheach Wow... thanks i guess
pat45greg47 My pleasure
I'm no expert here, I just love to look at beautiful things that Da Vinci and Van Gogh did. Van Gogh has this distinct brush stokes you know it got to be his. And of course Da Vinci who an artist who defied boundaries unknown at his time to create masterpiece after another. 💜
He made only a few paintings though
All Europeans and from the textbooks (Except Frida Kahlo), all from XIX-XX century, plus Rembrandt, and the the Leonardo-Michelangelo Renaissance duet.
A ''top ten'' junk worse than expected
Before watching a second of this I know it's crap. Why not the Top 10 Fathers of All Time or the Top 10 Avocados of All Time or the Top 10 Sunny Days of All Time? It's a stupid premise.
Diego Velazquez from the golden age, should have been included. It is incredible that he was not, "Its complex and enigmatic composition raises questions about reality and illusion, and creates an uncertain relationship between the viewer and the figures depicted." Velazquez was undoubtedly one of the greatest artist ever.
I am pretty sure they didn't include las meninas on their iconic painting list either eventhough it's one of the best pieces all time. I feel like watchmojo has something against Velazquez lol...
I completely agree
