    Bravo! One of the most impressive interpretations of this suite. Suprisingly, it sounds extremely beautiful on a single string instrument. It must be the player, who is capable of bringing it up at such a level of performance. Thanks for sharing, Anna and Anton :)

    • @christopherocher781
      @christopherocher781  3 роки тому +5

      Anna, Anton ... I find you too indulgent with me. If I can rightly regret the magical sound (as in your videos) of historic lutes, which I could not master (before the retirement home ...), I found in the Liuti-forti, which can also to be strung in courses, an extremely relevant proposition in the current musical landscape. There is place for everyone and for everything, as long as Music is served with authenticity. So the compliments you give me go more towards the instrument than towards the instrumentalist. My friend André Burguete, the designer of Liuto-forte, will appreciate it.
      With my warm thanks

    I am wondering if you too are a left-handed lutenist as I am. I have not yet met any other left-handed lutenists/altoguitarists in my life. It would be wonderful to meet you one day if so. Many right-handed 6-string guitarists that I meet ask to hold/attempt to play my instruments and I laugh as they fumble around, backwards and clumsy. Cheers on the incredible performance of S.L. Weiss as well!!

      @christopherocher781  3 роки тому

      Sorry, excuse my late response: I had not seen your message ... Yes, I am left-handed, like you, and like you, I sometimes felt myself looking at a curious beast in the sphere of the guitar and lute. This is why I have made a good part of my career in pop / folk / trad, an area in which left or right handed is an insignificant detail. I'm an old music soldier today, but yes, it would be nice to meet you.

    An excellent compromise between an extended range guitar and a lute: I love it. The liuto forte is a very interesting concept. One wonders why we hear little of attempts to improve or develop the harpsichord (find a way to introduce dynamic variation for example). Some H.I.P. advocates might dismiss such improvements / developments as "inauthentic" or "inappropriate" but, especially in solo music, the liuto forte can be appreciated for its inherent strengths: a sound between lute in guitar (appealing to many who like both instruments) clarity, volume, resonance, consistent balance & tone and a much more practical proposition than double gut courses, gut frets & stiff pegs. As regards Baroque ensembles I would be very surprised if lutenists of that era would not have appreciated the extra volume afforded by this liuto forte had it been available to them considering how quiet a traditional lute is compared to so many other instruments. The Weiss is of course lovely, as is the playing.

      @@conallmckayguitar Dear Conall, you describe perfectly, in a few relevant sentences, the context in which the Liuto Forte was born, the factual innovations that it offers to the world of early music. It is important to point out that the "Liuti-forti" are not intended to take the place of "historical" lutes. Each one has legitimately his word to say, to sing, and the 2 speeches are complementary, not antagonistic.The" Liuti -forti" are a proposition of what the lutes could have become if they had evolved in their conception and their improvement like the others "classical" instruments. The LFs are really wonderful, top of the range in terms of violin making. Your impression is justified: they are powerful, reliable instruments, with a subtle, fleshy, delicate sound .... I recorded these videos at home on an old digital multi-track, with an ordinary microphone. My sound engineer friend just added after a reverb, a little compression, nothing else. I certify that in fact, the acoustic sound is even more impressive. It is an experience that must be done .. The price is not exorbitant for instruments of such excellence. I can only advise you to consult the Liuto-forte website whose link is on each of my videos, to understand the process that led my friend André Burguete to design the Liuto-forte.

You are one of the people who convinced me 3 years ago to subscribe to Liuto-forte ... so your message is all the more important to me, and I thank you for it. Frankly I do not see in what you play less well than me !!! The protection you are talking about is: Guitar Armor Static Finish Protector, from the OASIS brand. (www.oasishumidifiers.com). It's perfect: you cut the size you want, the film holds by electro-static, no glue. If you have trouble finding any, I'll be happy to send you some.

      Hello ! Sorry, I don't speak Spanish .... This instrument is the modernized (Liuto-forte) version of the historic baroque lute, with the same d-tuning, and single nylon strings instead of double strings. On the other hand, on my Zamboni video, I play an Arciliuto-forte (archilaud), Renaissance tuning in G. On that of D.Miller, I play a Liuto-forte in E (guitar tuning with additional bass). You can find all the information on the Liuto-forte website linked to my videos (liuto-forte.de

    15-course, d-minor tuning? Do the extra two diapasons come in handy?

    • @christopherocher781
      @christopherocher781  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, this instrument is tuned exactly like the baroque lute (so in D), for which Weiss wrote. So, if I understand your question correctly, the "big game", it's to say the "theorbure" additional chromatic basses are needed to have all the basses written by Weiss.
