"You don't want to steal the style you want to steal the thinking behind the style, you don't want to look like your heroes you want to see like your heroes"
This is my THIRD one watched in like two days, n im NOT the type to sit down for 20 min let alone an hour n a half for EACH show but man... im SUCKED in n these talks are literally RIGHT NOW changing my life, the way i think, n i now have more inspiration, motivation, fuel, n determination than i've ever had before n ive ALWAYS been a positive person but this.... is GOLD
I started reading a book called "Tiny Habits" and with this talk, it really helps. You do small tasks every day that can't fail and eventually they become habits. It's something simple like 1 push up or 50 words a day and that's it. Over time, you've lowered your resistance to doing something because it's become a habit and suddenly you've got a lot done.
I read Austin's book today, I actually cried while reading it coz what he wrote was some thing I really needed to hear. Thank you Austin for being awesome........
Great interview. Austin is even more interesting in person. Got his book a while ago, and it was a great experience. Gotta read it once a month at least. Chase, love your show man. Great production value. Very well written. Keep it up!
on creativity i love "jiro dreams of sushi" that guy follows the same routine for 50 years(?) and feels completely fullfilled because he can put all his energy in creating the best sushi in the world
Stumbled across this web-show after reading Austin's book, wanted to learn more from him, and this was perfect. @ChaseJarvis love the look and style of your show; you gotta yourself a new fan.
Do the work you want to see done... Look for the gaps.... The two things I've lived by since I got serious about playing music. That's it. #creativelive #chasejarvis
Jarvis, you are one of the coolest photographers alive, but you talk to much on your talkshows. Let's hear the guest ;) Great show by the way! I never miss it! keep up the awesome work..
I always get so amazed by how some people managed to talk over the very same things been said and written about for centuries...and make them into something new! Can we hear something really, really, seriously new?? Or perhaps there is nothing else to say than just trite and re-trite the same 'ol things.
+Giovanni Siano i think it may be in purpose of new generations who don't reach the wisdom of the past. it's like a bridge connecting time and education :) hopefully those who find the topic interesting will dig deeper and discover the source of the information
Stealing is such a tainted word and it somehow implies scarcity . There should be a better word to describe the act of using some artwork for inspiration. Recocreation, recovariation... How about Improve Like an Artist... 😀 Very interesting conversation. 👍

Exactly. Well, stated.

Amen to that!
My favorite line from this has been when Austin said,"That's your job, to do the work you want to see done."

DID YOU USED THAT INFORMTION ?
The in studio audience doesn't represent the internet. They are more important. They are real.

I do the opposite. I say I take pictures and paint rather than calling myself a painter or photographer.

Why is this in black and white? There is no reason for this, was the color that bad?
FOR THE AESHTETIC
Vonwong always want to penetrate everyone with his tshirt. Like "hey ima take the oportunity and put my brand on chase jarvis show." What a fail
WHAT ?
so the internet isn't real? aren't you real? I think you're underestimating the importance of the internet right now.
CHase is awful
