I'm with you - I don't care how amazing an author is or how well they describe it, I will NEVER EVER be able to envision a battle scene 😂
I remember the last 60 pages or so of Fourth Wing took me about 3 hours to read because I had absolutely no idea what was going on 😭
I literally feel the EXACT same way about The Throne of Honor and Blood - I rated 3 stars but it doesn’t seem right. The first 50% was good and then all these things were thrown in there that came out of no where

TTOHAB was such a bummer 😩. I love Oaths and Curses and while I tried to not set extremely high expectations for book two, I feel like nothing could’ve prepared me for the nosedive the second book took. I was so excited in the first half of your review for it bc I thought, well damn, maybe I was too hard on it. But no. Sadly, it was just not good. On a high note, Book of Azrael just bumped onto my July TBR!

It’s funny because alot of my anticipated releases have been such flops so far this year, but then the ones I pick up on a whim (like this one), have just been *chefs kiss*!😂

I'm the same when it comes to fight scenes! I like reading the emotional impact of them, but in the midst of the fighting I struggle to picture it. I prefer to watch a fight scene

I loved Throne of Honor and Blood. I love Soren and Rooke. I really enjoyed reading it. I gave it 4 stars. I didn’t realize the parts that disappointed me until you pointed them out 😅 the one thing that bothered me the most was Rowan being saved by Rooke’s mother in the forest and then he never mentions it to Soren or Rooke. Your rant is how I feel about Heartless Hunter. I was so frustrated with that book.
i hope his prophecy gets brought up in future books, soren and rooke need to know!

Another thing I hated about TOHAB was that Soren completely shut down Reed and Rookes friendship, one of the few people who started to listen to Rooke in the first book. Like seriously Soren she can’t have friends that are boys 🙄. I agree with everything you reviewed of the book the end confused me so much 💔. Love the video 🕯️🕯️

I 100% agree about the throne of honor and blood. I’ve been struggling to put my feelings about this book. Into words and watching you validated how I felt about it. I was not fond of it at all the ending tanked the book for me. Also, I read the book of Israel a couple of months ago and did not go the hype, but I think I will reread it because you loved it so much the second time around.
I had put the Mortal Fates and Kindreds curse on the same wavelength as books i really enjoyed but Kindreds Curse has definitely pulled ahead in terms of high stakes but high reward. The ending of TTOHAB also had me scratching my head thinking I had missed something and I had to go back and re-read a few pages to ensure I didn't just skim over it. The last 2 pages felt like when you write an english assigment and you reach the word count so you just finish it off as quick as possible. She did say she had to do some editing for the book becuase of hte title change, and I wondrer the same as you, she decided to change the ending on a whim. She seems like she's a much better writer and story builder than that.

Totally agree with you about battle scenes. I just finished the Ever Queen and I had a hard time with the last 25%, just because of how much war was happening

Ugh its so sad to hear this about TOHAB...i will still read but i am dreading it... although you liked it till the end so i will dread the end. However i just finished Jade War! Im picking up Jade Legacy as soon as i am done with Heat of Everflame which I'm a little frustrated with. Diem drives me nuts. I think I'm moving Book of Azriel up on my list!!! 💜

I was very disappointed by TOHAB as well, especially by the quality of the book. I was finding mistakes and tipos everywhere, it felt way too rushed, the end felt like it was made and thought of last minute.... the first book was wayyy better😬

Sadly TTOHAB was a disappointment for me. Outside of the prologue it felt like a different author wrote it than the others in the series. Looking forward to your thoughts though! 🌳🍄🕯️

I’ve heard about the awful typos and trying to hold out for the edit! Also, the whole way the team acted over the release kinda Icked me out so I’ve been debating dropping it entirely if it’s a disappointment for a lot of people. I haven’t decided yet!

The TTOHAB was a two star for me. I ranted as much as you did lol. I would've given it three stars but the amount of typos and syntax errors at the end pissed me off so much. The author literally said that the delays were due to edits and I'm sorry but this book was not edited. It feels rushed. That ending was definitely for shock value and doesn't make sense for continuity. I think the author was highly unprofessional with this release and I can't stand by that. Also, why make that prologue if Rowan doesn't have any moment in this book in which he talks to Rooke about it?

I wanted to know how Sari was going to help them so I was sad that never played out. I’m mostly confused with Sari being betrothed to the High Commander, who is the High Commander? It’s Pemba, no he’s married, wait he’s dead. I’ve seen people say it’s probably Rooke but you would think the Regent would want her married to a high fae if their child will be heir to the unseeelie? And he supposedly spoke with him directly. That feels like another plot hole to me 😬

TTOHAB was still a 4.5 star for me. I just kept my mind on the story itself and I loved it so much. I had a blast, but that ending was absolutely wild. I agree I was confused too 😂

The Reborn thing I think comes from when Rooke was saved during the war 😆 (agreed…super confusing… )apparently since the Reborn witch (whose name I forget) gave her so much blood to save her that she is now accepted as a Reborn witch….IF I understood what I read correctly because his blood flows in her veins….But the whole thing made my brain twitch. lol! I also thought that from 80% on, the book spiraled.

I read Crowns and didn't love it until 70%, but the ending was awesome, so I wanted to read book 2. Last week I soft DNF around 40%, but knowing you were disappointed I just listened to the spoils. 😆😭 I'm sad to say, but I'm not surprised by everyones reactions. 🫠
