Ugh yeah. I did all of them wrong so I was eagle eying this step. Trying to figure out why my selector stick kept getting stuck instead of going down the hole. Well all my weights were upside down! But yeah this last plate in the video is upside down
I think the directions are actually wrong, not him! I put mine according to the instructions and the peg will not go through the first weight or is not lined up correctly to go all the way through and securely out of the way. So, I think him doing it wrong is actually the correct way to do it.
@HollyDayYay yeah I got this weight machine Secondhand and can't figure out why the selector pin is not staying in! It seemed like it was too short to reach that interior hole... but maybe the weights are upside down?
Great video! Just a heads up for you and anyone watching. The bar that supports the weights goes under the last small weight plate, not over. Check the drawings again. Time stamp on video 11:09
I assembled this casually over 3 days. I have about 4 hours in it thanks to you and your DIY guide. The ratchet and Hex bits ($10 Amazon) are a must. The only thing I messed up was running the bottom cable under the bar on the front two pulleys. Took me 5 minutes to fix. Thanks dude!
DUDE YOU ARE THE MAN. You are the first person after reviewing many video on people saying they are showing you hot to set it up but just want to collect likes. I really appreciate the step by step way you went about showing up how to install this workout station. Thank you so much.
Excellent video! As many people have commented, the included assembly instructions are not clear or well illustrated in a number of steps. Your video was very detailed and informative. Thank you!
Is there a way to fix the weight selector plate issue you guys are talking about without taking the whole thing apart? Also do you need to take the carabineer off the lat bar every time you want to use the ankle cuff? Anyone else have a problem with seat being too low to properly use the pec deck? And what is the small 90 degree angled pin I have left over used for? Thank you for any input on any of these things and thank you for this video. It helped a lot!
It is possible to fix the selector. Took me 3-5 minutes with a second set of hands. This is lengthy, I’m sorry. Remove weight cable from selector rod. Remove two bolts at top of weight stack. Remove selector rod. Lift top weight, slightly force two rods out, remove plate. Reinsert selector rod, put pin letting back on, put plate back on the stack. The selector rod should now be between the top two plates. Put bolts back in the top of the weight stack rods. You will probably have to adjust the tension on the wore at the flywheel with 5-holes in it. But the. You should be set.

This video was such an incredible help. My 14-yr old son and I watched it while putting ours together and it made it SOOOO much easier. Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a great video! Yeah, it took us 4 hours, and we started at 8p on a Friday night, but it was quality time with your video providing great guidance!
Really great video. If you are like me and have the the 1005 model, this video is basically the exact same install with a few steps out of order. Manual for this model does not have the handy zoom in diagrams like the one in the video does so being able to slow this video down and watch really really helped. Thank you to the poster! Took me about 5.5 hours moving at a leisurely pace. Actually enjoyed the install! Was pretty fun! Thanks.
Greetings, I just bought the marcy home gym mwm 1005 and its the same and you made it look easy.. while i was assembling mine i saw that on your machine you installed the cover weight upside down... and the selector bar would go first... its a miner detail but i think the selector bar wouldn't go as far for selecting the last weights... over all its a awesome vid and i'ved watched a few time while assembling mine, thanks
@gamer boss let me see, i don't know if I explained it right, where the sector bar goes, there's a top weight thats different of the rest... the way I put it on my machine was that even if you don't select any weight it will be on the selector bar... its a miner detail... i hope i explained my self... if not maybe I can send you a pic of my machine... let me know have a great one. 👍🏽
@@mladenalexander8754 sorry to get to you so late, my cel broke and couldn't get to my accounts, i'm glad you could resolve that issue, have a good one 👍
I just assembled mine a few weeks ago. Your video popped up in my feed about a year too late, but I just followed the booklet instructions and got it done in several hours.
Why are there holes half way up verical rods and why does it matter how they are lined up ?> The Marcy official assembly cartoon video seems to have these same hole 90 degrees from how he Mastering Mayhem gives instructions re these holes at 4:18.
Just assembled mine today. The holes are for the combination lock and pin to child proof it. It does not matter which way they face as the lock works with them facing forward or sideways. Great video and I found it very helpful, but I was worried about this step since he stressed it so early-and the official manual has them facing the other way. Again, it doesn’t matter.
Nice video! I'm putting together my MWM-990 right now -- it looks [identical] to your model. I had a crooked mount for the rear base bar where the facia panel for the stacks connect. The hole was off by about an inch -- but a few whacks with a hammer straightened it to 90 degrees. The facia panel is also dented in bent in several places -- I might need to have them send me another. It looks like they didn't pack enough #65 washers in mine. Last time I got a Marcy bench they replaced a cut preacher pad (somebody used a razor on the box, not me) -- no questions.
I just assembled the 990 (same thing) after watching this video. Took me about 4 hours total. Your tips probably saved me at least an hour of time and countless amounts of frustration.
You have no idea how much this video helped me! If it wasn't for this video I would have kept it in the box for another few years at least!! Thank you SO very much for this tutorial!!!
Just got the -1005 from Sam’s Club. Basically the same. The booklet instructions are not great but really need this video to help with the tension that you pointed out at the end. Thanks
I just built my Marcy 4965 gym yesterday and it took about 6 hours. For the life of me I could not figure out where to put the ring for the plate pin. I skipped around your video and stopped on the exact spot where you put it on top of the plate pin shaft. It's funny because your directions told you where to put it, mine didn't. LOL Thanks!!!
I only figured it out because my pin wasn’t lining up with the hole, and the top weight was wiggly when it was upside down lol. So I paused his video and zoomed up on his instructions lol
Dude, thank you so much for this video. Usually I have a hard time putting things together. I thought this was gonna be so hard but thanx to u it was easy. Very easy actually. It took me 4 days to put it together but only because I didn't have a lot of extra time to put it together. So I just took my time. Thanx again man.

Thanks so much for posting this, is it normal that my right butterfly is a bit off ? not completely straight. How do I make it even? I keep ajusting the screws and the one on top and nothing seem to work.. :)
Thanks for the video. There is an issue that the top cable seems to be shortened after all pulleys were installed. I had to lift the weight support rod about 8-9 inches higher to fit all pulleys and cables. What could be wrong here ?
0:49 My machine didn't come with the part 41! The rubber stoppers etc. I saw that yours didn't either! Is it okay to build the gym without it? I just wanna get it over with. I looked everywhere and I can't find the rubber stoppers for the two poles which is part 41.
My wife and I just finished working out I think overall it’s a good home gym my only complaint is that I wish the weight can up up about a foot more so I can a comfortable extension
Used this to guide me on the construction of my MWM-1005 in the UK and it was really useful. I haven't worked out how to fix the ankle attachment to the cable, I have a spare back plate (part no. 20 in my instructions) and one small fixing pin (part no. 72) which for the life of me, I cannot work out what it does! However it all works and I'm really pleased with the end result. Took me two days, very casually. Could have done it in one at a pinch. I have to say, the US instructions used by the gentleman in the youtub vid, were much clearer than mine, which appear to have been drawn in the Far East and then translated to a very small print booklet. I'll probably re-watch to see if I can work out what I missed.
The part no. 72 is for the little lock to go through the hole in the back pole so the weights cannot be utilized for safety precautions. I had to look at the back page of the instructions and it really still wasn't clear until I just tried it. I do not know how to install the ankle part either.
I assembled a Marcy 4965 and the cables have to be pulled way to far before it engages the weight. Any suggestions as to what I may have done wrong? Thank you!

What does upside down mean? The upside would be the correct side up by definition of the upside. Are you saying do not follow the instructions?
I came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed. The last plate should cover the t post part of the weight selector bar.
Do you put the metal ring on the t bar before or after the small plate?
The last plate don’t sit flat if I put it on before
