Vocaloid has trouble with consonants, this impacts even the Japanese Vocaloids. Plus they've only just fixed the issues with the English script in 2010, Yamaha sold a bad script since 2003.
With a number of English vocals and more coming up... I doubt it, Vocaloid has a larger market space and English vocals aren't a big market. This holds back all English synths and will impact this one too, the English speaking market is more reluctant towards software based vocals and favours real singer still. Plus based on what I've heard, the synth seems to be better at its sweet spot, but worst outside it then Vocaloid. Vocaloid is better at filling in the blanks. There is a male vocal also for this, but deeper vocals tend to show up all the weaknesses of the vocal synths. Also even in Japan, Vocaloid has had UTAU and now has CeVIO to deal with, but is still really popular because of Miku's iconic status. UTAU is a lower quality result then Vocaloid so won't replace it (and has 10% of Vocaloids number of producers, though bare in mind there are some 50,000+ producers at any one stage for Vocaloid in Japan) and CeVIO has a limited selection. This software is competing with a software that's been around for a decade and a half and has more vocal options. They have 2 currently we know of while there is English vocaloids Sweet Ann, Big Al, Sonika, Luka, Miku, Macne Nana, Fukase, Diva, Songman, Gumi, Len, Rin, Kaito, Meiko, Dex, Daina, Ruby, Yohioloid, Oliver, Avanna, Prima, Tonio, Leon, Lola, Miriam. That's a big selection across 4 versions of the software. That's over 20 vocal options and more are on the way. Even if you only count the Vocaloids since V4 starts that 5 natives and 2 Japanese that are decent plus the 5 lower quality CFM vocals, so basically 12 vocals. And there is suspect that V5 is expected sometime in the upcoming months if predictions are correct, which brings in new possibilities we don't yet know about. And this doesn't include several the 3 updates English vocals Miku, Luka and Nana, or the fact Luka can XSY her two English V4 vocals, Miku can XSY her V3 and V4 vocals, Nana can XSY her V3 and V4 and its in a Ah software English group which means she can XSY with all future Ah Software English vocals, of which its confirmed more are coming. And for exch XSY pair you have 2 extra results, increasing the number of English options. So those 6 voicebanks create 6 more voicebanks between them. This is baring in mind Vocaloid has 5 languages and you can use all alongside each other, that the Japanese side in particular has a huge catalogue of vocals (I think its now over 150 vocals between the Japanese vocaloids). Even if this is a better sounding engine, Vocaloid literally has the market for a reason. Vocaloid isn't trembling because Yamaha can sink more money into it, since their a bigger company and have access to more resources. Vocaloid also has a mobile app, a keyboard for the Japanese vocals and a few more other things.
Mate, the creator of this software works with/in Yamaha. Of course the capabilities of this software are _"on par"_ or similar to VOCALOID's (and maybe even UTAU's, as well). And by reading your comment, I could assume you didn't quite understand what *"VOCALOID is shaking"* is. It's a joke bud, I didn't really state that SynthV will beat VOCALOID. _You sure _*_are_*_ fun at parties._
UTAU ceased development in 2013, so its out of the picture, its community keeps it alive by creating resamplers and voicebanks, but its no threat at all. Without development, UTAU is a software with a ticking clock on it and the quality was never on par with Vocaloid3, though UTAU fans try to deny this. While I knew it was a joke, I just didn't care for it as a joke, never do. You want to make a joke, that's fine, but someone else may not see it as a joke. Hence the reply regardless. I've sadly been with Vocaloid for 8 years and know all to well what happens. *sigh*. Edit; Also I know about the guy being linked to Yamaha, but the thing is, he is doing this independently from Yamaha more or less. Yamaha is a corporation and could sink money into Vocaloid if they desired to improve it greatly if they felt it ness. Even if the quality is on par, it still lacks many of the features Vocaloid has by the looks of it.
We're at V4 and still they have muffled pronunciations (either when they sing very fast or when they say "you"). This is almost as good as English UTAUS. Vocaloid companies should take a look at this and start making clear sounding English vocaloids.

I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST HEARD WAS EVEN REAL. Like I've been following this projects development since day one. Kanru Hua is the hero we don't deserve but so desperatly need. And you of all people doing a demo!!! I don't think my hype has ever been higher! Though I'll be really sad if we can't import UTAUs. Even if it's a feature planned for the future and isn't available initially, the wait would be worth it. I know he obviously has it on his mind; its the most frequently asked question. So I'm sure its a priority. But honestly I'm just happy that UTAU FINALLY has a proper spiritual successor. Let's go Kanru Hua!! I cannot wait to get my grubby little hands on it.
UTAU's development stopped in 2013, its being kept alive by resamplers and its fans since then. Plus though its free UTAU still was created by a developer, so belongs to someone. Theonly ones ever to try it were Plogue but they never released the UTAU function that would allow UTAUs to go into Alter/ego. It was only experimental.
Two things; 1. I know all of this but it doesn't change the fact its a software not being updated anymore and the numerous voicebanks made are why UTAU's still going. Even if the voicebanks exist, they are still a separate entity to the actual UTAU software itself. Even if you transferred those vocals onto this software, be aware due to differences before UTAU's engine and this one, the vocals would experience differences in sound. Meaning that quality of the voice may improve but don't be surprised if the voice isn't the same pitch or behaves differently. 2. Why I can't help people don't do their research, bare in mind not speaking up is even worst. Its not spam if I tell them their wrong and correct them, this is actually being helpful as it will keep them making mistakes in the future. I'm sorry but, this reeks of elitism I encountered when I first got into the Vocalodi fandom, veteran fans wanting things to remain the way they are so they can feel superior in their knowledge on a subject. In fact only the note UTAU stopped development in 2013 was a "correction", the rest aren't, their commentary by me. Be it badly written as it was late at night when I wrote that.
Cilla had been reporting on the trials and tribulations of her life on her Twitter for a while now, so I guess if you really want to know you can follow her on that. It's just unavoidable real life stuff.
UTAU does! This software is made by Kanru Hua, who created the moresampler resampler for UTAU, which allows the user to create this tension effect in UTAU.
Gosh I really like the tone and sound of this voice and I'm not sure if that's got anything to do with the program or if it's just kyaami magic... But SynthV sounds promising! The pronunciation is almost spot-on and that tension feature..... ah it'ss like a dream come true! ^u^
I BET that Yamaha going to "borrow" the Tension function and make it into like Vocaloid 5(V5) and call it Strength/Tension or somthing??? But we all know that SynthV was the first advance Synthesizer to done this, Amirite??
InsomniKyo Actually, there’s an engine developped for utau called moresampler which has a tension tool too! Though the one from synth v seems to sound cleaner
Oh godddddd, the voice is actually pretty good and I like how you can gauge the power of the voice~ Oh and welcome back! We have been patiently (well, I sure am) waiting for your arrival. Hope everything turns out well and know that we are behind you if you need us. That said, the song is really good and coupled with the SynthV, It makes the song feel much more alive on par with UTAU even! Good job cillia and I will always watch your vids and give my support. Fight-o! *raises fist*
I'm just sitting here enjoying this song 2 years late and seething at how well you manage that freehand pitch, tension, and breath tuning at the bottom. I can't get those to work for me to save my life. Edit: Oh my God it's so good I had to listen to it a few more times.
Wow this sounds really amazing! This takes the quality of voices like CYBER DIVA and adds the power of UTAU. This is really cool I’d so love to see where this goes!
I'm following vocaloid since years and I listened a lot of differents voicebanks (also utau), I have to be honest, this is better than most of vocaloids, I'm not a native speaker and it's hard understand the pronunciation of english vocaloids, even though I studied english for years (and I see that even for you it's hard) But ENG-F1 impressed me, is really clear and fluent! I agree with Andre, VOCALOID is shaking...
As you said; most of composers are japanese and the english market is non-existent Yahama is careless with english vocaloids (compare Avanna version with this), japanese market is more convenient. You're right, they surely release another version but let's be honest, even there's a lot of utau voicebanks with a very good quality in english and they were just made by normal people (most of them with experience of course) I think that Yamaha must work more in them english vocaloids than japanese, english is an universal language, them market could be huge but due to them careless those english VB aren't welcome by english composers, that's little disappointing. I will wait for the next vocaloid version, hopefully we will have surprises :)
oh wow, i really love how well the lower tension causes a falsetto sound on the higher notes- thats something i always found hard to achieve in vocaloid with soft/normal voicebanks
That sound really good for English indeed ! The voice don't have really any special tone (like you popular Vocalo/UTAU like Miku Teto or such, which you recognize immediately) but is pretty clear and smooth, I like its simplicity. The chinese one seems pretty cutte and smooth too to me (I mean I don't know anything about chinese but that's the vibe I get from it). I'm looking forward to hearing a japanese song, and other VB ! -PLUS WE'RE BLESSED WITH AN ORIGINAL SONG BY YOU AND NIKI HELL YEAH-
This english is honestly amazing. I always shut my eyes to test how strong the english really is, since understanding while reading lets our brain fill in info, and I could understand her perfectly fine. Thank you for sharing this I hope it gets used by the community more in the future!
Eleanor is one of the voices that let us see the future of *English* vocal synthesizers. Japanese is already done because of Vocaloid, but having an English voice sing as clear as Vocaloid and as unfderstandable as a real person? That is legit a technological breakthrough considering the language is very complicated.
I'm so much in love with your cover and this new synth! It got the power of UTAU but the smoothness of VOCALOID! I can also UNDERSTAND IT?! What's not to love?
I used to know this guy (that made the software), but we ended up not working together because his vision is a bit different than mine. He's quite a brilliant guy. well, so it's finally gonna be public then... And here we are, staring at the end of UTAU. I'm glad it's coming.
MHRVoca Don't forget, a VB is used to make this song. That means the code to handle VBs is already in place -- for multiple languages, no less. Adding more would be trivial. Surely in the short term, UTAU would have a wider range of VBs, but I expect with Cilia on the board, anyone who's still maintaining their UTAU VB would try to get it out as soon as they could. That is, if Kanru does not make it backward compatible. For this I honestly don't know how far he'd go, since one of his motivation in making this is the UTAU VB format sucked.
UTAU's development ceased in 2013 and it has not been updated since. It has not been updated since, all resamplers, voicebanks and so fourth were created by 3rd parties and this has been keeping UTAU alive since. UTAU despite being able to handle languages has issues related to the default setting only being set up for Japanese, it struggles in areas that some UTAU fans won't admit. Edit; Its actually the most remarkable thing is how UTAU is kept alive by its community, when the devs stopped they continued.
UTAU used SJIS when it should've used Unicode. As a consequence, USTs and VBs cannot handle Chinese characters -- not that you can't make chinese ones, just none of the characters can be in chinese. Additionally, the loading time of a UST is pretty ungodly. And those only scratched the surface of its problems When I created a library to work with UST files and peeked inside how it works, it was very clear UTAU never meant to openly support 3rd party resamplers. Everything was designed to work with the official resampler, and the feature to use different resampler was probably made because the official creator wanted to test different versions of his own resamplers. As evidenced by the ever-extended "trial period" on Macs, UTAU was meant to be a closed, paid software, despite its creator suggested otherwise. Everything we use on UTAU are hacks, budges to extend its original, limited capacity. UTAU is in fact, only kept alive by 3rd party enthusiasts. For a long time, there wasn't a reason to switch to other softwares. Now with the creator of moresampler and cilia and many others on board, there is one.
Quality, even the best vocals are not on par with the best Vocaloids, though fans constantly deny it and claim otherwise, UTAU was never a HQ product and now development has ceased it never will. I've not seen any Japanese users argue ove the quality of UTAU so it seems to be a stubborn overseas fan opinion. In Japan they pretty much accept that its bad. Bare in mind UTAU has 1/5 the usage of Vocaloid too. This was not why you used UTAU though, you used it because it was free, adaptable and had lacked many of the restrictions Vocaloid has on how you could use it. Since the engine has had no updates since 2013, its capabilities are frozen and it will not be updated. Meaning the version you download now is pretty much all there is to UTAU. UTAU can be taken further by resamplers, but you then have to sit there and sort through them. Not all are as useful as they seem and even with a host of them you may not get a good result. The engine is highly adaptable, but due to its ceased development right now is at risk of being lost to time. The basic voicebanks are mostly made by amateurs and fans and the professionals are not always free, the sheer number of LQ voicebanks is remarkable, you can have random background noises in them or they just need edited but most don't. Since many producers don't have access to much of the tools Vocaloid studios have to check results, they often spot basic mistakes that a simple program will be picked up by an audio engineer will have access to in their tool kit. UTAU users tend not to understand some vocals like the Macne's aren't free, because for the most part the majority of them are. Not all UTAU vocals are voices and there are some using UTAU as a sample pack merely. Regardless, compared to Vocaloid, developers must submit all voicebanks for a quick analyse by Yamaha's team before they can be released. This also acts as a standard quality check and catches many of the basic bugs caused by development teams. Voicebanks are sent to Yamaha who sends them back with notes saying some issues raised. The studio then fixes and re-submits. This means all Vocaloid voicebanks, even the worst, have passed a baselines quality check as per such. Some UTAU fans/users also try and deny it, but UTAUs engine has an impact on the vocal. For example, but to the Macne's, when you import the original Macne family samples into UTAU voicebanks to make UTAU voicebanks of their vocals, the result vocal is low. The samples aren't particularly high, but if you compare Nana original and Nana 2S's pre-made UTAU vocal, which is corrected, there is a difference. Vocaloid also does this too, though I've seen fans deny Vocaloid has any impact on the vocals, this is very obvious listening to samples of Sweet Ann V1 and the released V2 versions. Sweet Ann in Vocaloid was almost too like Lola, so I suspect myself Lola is impacted by the V1 engine.
It is really interesting to watch the video while playing the vocal only track. Really gives the idea how each change in pitch and tension affect the voice and it's much easier to here the changes without the music.
THE UTAU AND VOCALOID COMMUNITY IS SHAKING IN ITS BOOTS. THIS ENGLISH VB IS AMAZING AND THE TENSION FEATURE NNNEEEDDDDS TO COME TO VOCALOID, AND UTAU NEEDS A BIIGGGG UPDATE WITH THIS FEATURE!!
I can't tell whether it really is better than the old UTAU synthesizer to be honest. It's just, when Cillia got their hand on it, any voices would sound incredible no matter what.
Kyaami I'm so glad you posted a video thank you for all the music you make. Everytime you post I have to watch thank you so much for a gifted person like you
I'm here" Hearing this, I awake In a quiet world The me of yesterday swayed by the wind is like a fleeting flower I once saw Again I will be born and vanish here Silent, so no one will notice me "Can you forget everything that you know?" When you make memories so easily why do we refuse to forget it all? Why do we end up in tears? Why are you crying now? Again, I ask, quietly, "Will you believe the me that's here?" Again, I try, quietly, to connect with someone― "So please don't release this hand." ―before my heart vanishes I always felt it. The world must be cruel. When the scenery I see has become broken Again the solitary world lives. "Can you remake everything that once was?" Such things are so easy to destroy, searching for an answer in my heart? If this moment lasted forever If you could choose your future this time What voice will you be willing to give up? then and there I close my eyes. I'm just breathing now. and I remember the words "Smiling is all you can do" Dissolve into all the colors you see Freedom that lies in this hand. The world shouldn't be like this, that's what I thought I realize the truth now but There is no one. I know no one. What is freedom? What is love? Let us just forget now. Don't make any sound, Don't think about it Someday if I can be reborn Come on, let us do everything over. "Will you believe the me that's here?" Eternity, please disappear. Goodbye me of tomorrow. The source of the tears that silently fell down. Again, I ask, quietly, "Will you believe the me that's here?" Again, I try, quietly, to connect with someone― Again... Again...

I'm following vocaloid since years and I listened a lot of differents voicebanks (also utau), I have to be honest, this is better than most of vocaloids, I'm not a native speaker and it's hard understand the pronunciation of english vocaloids, even though I studied english for years (and I see that even for you it's hard)
But ENG-F1 impressed me, is really clear and fluent!
I agree with Andre, VOCALOID is shaking...
As you said; most of composers are japanese and the english market is non-existent
Yahama is careless with english vocaloids (compare Avanna version with this), japanese market is more convenient.
You're right, they surely release another version but let's be honest, even there's a lot of utau voicebanks with a very good quality in english and they were just made by normal people (most of them with experience of course)
I think that Yamaha must work more in them english vocaloids than japanese, english is an universal language, them market could be huge but due to them careless those english VB aren't welcome by english composers, that's little disappointing.
I will wait for the next vocaloid version, hopefully we will have surprises :)
oh wow, i really love how well the lower tension causes a falsetto sound on the higher notes- thats something i always found hard to achieve in vocaloid with soft/normal voicebanks
i think like soft voicebanks are seperate, synth v is really great
Isn't this by the same guy who made moresampler? Jesus this guy is good
Woman*
Synthetic Purple no, i'm talking about Kanru Hua, the creator of moresampler and synthV, not cillia/kyaami or the vocal
SCARYCHEWINGGUM 😂😂😂😂ur subject of question is confusing
I already loved the song! The English is much more CLEAR! It’s so clear, and - I just can’t believe it! 💜
Its so clear and the voice is so freaking beautiful!
Beautiful cover as always Cillia!!
ん゛ん゛ん゛ん゛……好き
Why is this the best I've ever heard her sound even though she's had a few updates since 2018?
english pronunciation is clear- :O
New cover!!!! Excited
鄭淇勻 Its a Cover, the original was relased some years ago
ahhhhh yes
This is definitely very clear, looking forward to hearing more on this engine! Great tuning as always 😊
the goddess has returned with another masterpiece
Wow. Really impressive clarity with pronunciation.
I'm so much in love with your cover and this new synth! It got the power of UTAU but the smoothness of VOCALOID!
I can also UNDERSTAND IT?! What's not to love?
OMG THIS IS SO GOOOOD , HER VOICE IS SO CLEAR!! I LOVE IT
What I love most about this is the use of onomatopeia (sigh lent, uh gan) to elevate the english vocals and make them really clear. Good job!
I really love the way the Tension is used to bring her in and out of Falsetto on the higher notes!
I used to know this guy (that made the software), but we ended up not working together because his vision is a bit different than mine. He's quite a brilliant guy. well, so it's finally gonna be public then... And here we are, staring at the end of UTAU. I'm glad it's coming.
MHRVoca
Don't forget, a VB is used to make this song.
Edit;
Its actually the most remarkable thing is how UTAU is kept alive by its community, when the devs stopped they continued.
AngelEmfrbl Just curious, what would these areas of struggle be?
UTAU used SJIS when it should've used Unicode. As a consequence, USTs and VBs cannot handle Chinese characters -- not that you can't make chinese ones, just none of the characters can be in chinese. Additionally, the loading time of a UST is pretty ungodly. And those only scratched the surface of its problems
When I created a library to work with UST files and peeked inside how it works, it was very clear UTAU never meant to openly support 3rd party resamplers.
VOCALOID IS *SHOCK*
I love seeing the work behind this!!!
めっちゃ癒されました
ありがとうございます
I absolutely love how clear it is, and what a damn good song to listen to it with.
This program is pretty impressive! Also, great tuning as always! Can't wait to see your Japanese cover with this program X)!
Sweet! Production sounds fine and the tuning is excellent.
changed the world!
It is really interesting to watch the video while playing the vocal only track. Really gives the idea how each change in pitch and tension affect the voice and it's much easier to here the changes without the music.
This new program looks awesome! The voice sounds pretty good, and its only a default voice! I'm definitely gonna get it when it comes out!
Holy crap this is so clear? This is amazing
Omg this is perfect 💜 I can't wait to hear more about this software and (hopefully) more demos from you!
WHEEZE OH MY GOD THE RAW VOCALS????? I-I CAN UNDERSTAND???? HYEWIWOSJSJS
YOU'RE SO GOOD
seriously I've been listening to your works from 2015 and even back then you've made the voices sound human!

I've been hunting for this song for ages!!! it got me through high school ages ago
yet another reason for me to not use vocaloid anymore oh my GOD it's so clear
Eyy i missed you
Been years as your small fan , your synthesis and niki's song are the best combination of vocaloid song covers I ever heard everytime.

The pronunciation is really clear OMG!!
Whoa this is probably the best English voice synth I've ever heard
I heard this song once and fell in love with it. Especially, the magnificence that spreads with rust is good.
Omg I guess vocaloid and utau are both dead now PFFFT this sounded amazing!
I also LOOOVE the voice type of the EngF1 voice omgomg
I can't tell whether it really is better than the old UTAU synthesizer to be honest.
It's just, when Cillia got their hand on it, any voices would sound incredible no matter what.
My god I can't wait to use this program
Our Goddess is back! All hail Cillia!!! Hope you've been well!
An english singing synth that I can understand without looking up the lyrics??
*N A N I*
Kyaami I'm so glad you posted a video thank you for all the music you make. Everytime you post I have to watch thank you so much for a gifted person like you
coming back to this after a long time it just makes me want more an Elaenor vb for the gen 3 of synthV
Holy shit her English is impeccable. This is just perfect oh my god I’m drooling
This is one hell of a promotion, I'm sold
Sounds so realistic and nice! I'm going to love it
Omg great vocal,I understand really clearly the english
I'm here" Hearing this, I awake
In a quiet world
The me of yesterday swayed by the wind
is like a fleeting flower I once saw
Again I will be born and vanish here
Silent, so no one will notice me
"Can you forget everything that you know?"
When you make memories so easily
why do we refuse to forget it all?
Why do we end up in tears? Why are you crying now?
Again, I ask, quietly,
"Will you believe the me that's here?"
Again, I try, quietly, to connect with someone―
"So please don't release this hand."
―before my heart vanishes I always felt it.
The world must be cruel.
When the scenery I see has become broken
Again the solitary world lives.
"Can you remake everything that once was?"
Such things are so easy to destroy,
searching for an answer in my heart?
If this moment lasted forever
If you could choose your future this time
What voice will you be willing to give up?
then and there I close my eyes. I'm just breathing now.
and I remember the words
"Smiling is all you can do"
Dissolve into all the colors you see
Freedom that lies in this hand.
The world shouldn't be like this, that's what I thought
I realize the truth now
but There is no one. I know no one.
What is freedom? What is love? Let us just forget now.
Don't make any sound, Don't think about it
Someday if I can be reborn
Come on, let us do everything over.
"Will you believe the me that's here?"
Eternity, please disappear.
Goodbye me of tomorrow.
The source of the tears that silently fell down.
Again, I ask, quietly,
"Will you believe the me that's here?"
Again, I try, quietly, to connect with someone―
Again... Again...
whens the last time synth english sounded so good
czloid
God such a good sound, I really love the mix, the rythm, the song, all.
やっぱり調教すごい...
i always knew this was a sad song, but now that i can understand the words it really hits me in the feels, the message is so strong T_T
Holy shit, this voice synth's English is so clear and less janky! 0_0
Is this program free or what? I want to dabble in something like this, but I don't have the money for Vocaloid and the UI for Utau is too confusing.
Katsuura I think it will be but it’s in beta atm (I think) and not released to the public at the current moment!^^
its free but if you want the full experience, you'd have to pay around 80$
