As I sit here and think about it I find it very remarkable that a young man built his first sawmill in his backyard and used it a LOT for 4 1/2 years. You are now going to tear it down and reassemble it at your new place, and not a single word about modifying it or replacing it with a better version. This is surely a testament to your natural born engineering talent. I am 70 years old and I think this is amazing. I am in total agreement with you. I see no reason whatever to change anything on this saw other than the hand crank feed. Art
Very cool Matthew! Properly closing a chapter so that another can open and done in that uniquely wonderful way that only Matt Cremona can bring forth... priceless!
Well 4/5 years time has moved very fast but it has been an absolute pleasure in watching you and your family grow hope you have many more years of continuous growth at your new place take care 😀👍🇬🇧
Can’t wait to see you move the saw and been watching from the beginning when you started building the saw and can’t believe it’s been 4 years hope to see you get it up and running at the new place 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😀
lol I would be happy to see that mess of a yeard go away.. nice people they sure are but the eye sore and the noise and dust from the sawing drifting every where ugh
My old house was built in 1889 and the living room floor was red oak toung & groove I sanded all the old stuff off and covered it with clear verithane sealer when the sun was setting and shined on it the colors was so beautiful i hated let anyone wear shoes on it so i kept slip on shoe covers for when anyone came to visit !
I don't understand the thought process that goes into the best way to cut up logs for the greatest yield/best looking slabs. I do appreciate watching you do it. It's truly fascinating. I've spent many hours mesmerized by your videos. It's somehow both entertaining and calming.
Great video! I absolutely admire it when young men are proud of their accomplishments! You earned that memory that should be cherished throughout your life and thanks for sharing it with the world!
Looking forward to seeing the sawmill at the new place. I, too, have lots of good memories of the old place. I love how you have incorporated the old with the new. Keep us updated. We love to be included in your journey.
Great techniques, you move large logs like it’s nothing and it takes skill! Keep up the great work as the goal is to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
what an interesting journey this one was...glad i found it!...can't wait to see inside those last 2 logs...good luck at the new place! (it looks like it's coming together nicely)...anticipating more videos from there in the near future.
Looking forward to sawmilling at the new property. Thanks for sharing Matt. It's been a blast watching you these many years. Keep up the great content.
You've sawed a lot of interesting logs at that location . Looking forward to moving to y'all's new house and setting up the saw . Stay Safe . Great video
I have watched a lot of logs go thru that saw. I'm looking forward to the new background. It would be nice to see a time lapse vid of take-down and set up
Very nice Matt. It's been nice going along for the ride with you here but... We can't wait to see the saw set up at the new place with room to expand!!! Hopefully you already have a slab poured for the mill when it arrives. It might be nice to have a covered mill area that is open on the sides for access.
Good video mate. Its not the end of a ride, just a pause until the nest ride starts at the new place! Looking forward to seeing how you transport the mill to its new location. Too right about not staining timber. I cant understand why folks want to spoil the natural look so often!
Matt, Lots of great memories of that sawmill build, that spot of ground it’s on and all the beautiful wood you pulled out of logs that would otherwise have been tossed away! Looking forward to the tear down and rebuild (hopefully with some hydraulics to get logs on and turn them!
Like Chris G. below, it amazes me that you haven't tipped over... yet. Have you thought about adding a counter-weight to the end you stand on? Might help with some of the bigger stuff, give the skid-steer more oomph to oomph with. Or are you going to get a larger skid-steer to supplement the mini-skidder?
Will you... or, did you do a video yet to come of dismantling and moving and then resetting up the saw mill? Probably not I imagine for it being too much work and you just wanted to get it done. Always love your content!
Wow the time goes fast 4 1/2 years since you start with the sawmill, and before you make the big furniture(Do not remember the name) The time goes so fast. You moved last year, and no it is the last day from the old house. The family grows up, and it is strange to think that it is so many year since i started to follow your UA-cam channel. I wish you and your family a nice time. I hope you have been free from Covid 19, and i hope you enjoy your new home. I hope there will be more videos from there later. How is the place you rent, are you still keeping wood and things there? Have a great week from Jan in Norway
I love this saw mill, I wish i could bring you a big log and some money for your effort and see it in action. I got to see it in person once but never in operation. Alas i can't neither transport large logs or really find them. I think quarter sawn Red Oak is beautiful. I leave flats awn at the store though. 32" that makes the 24" long on my driveway seem small, gonna tackle it with my 661.
Cremona mobile band saw, with your skillsets, definitely obtainable. But would the content and plans be worth your time? 🤔 Anyhow, always love the content you create and the positive vibes you represent. Thanks Matt.
Question; so when you sell that place what are you going to do about the back yard? Grade it and drop some gravel down? Anyway, good luck at the new place. Cant wait for some woodworking videos.
First comment! Woohoo! But, seriously, thank you, Matt, for all the hard work you put in, and for sharing this with us. I really appreciate the insight, the education, and the humor you put into each of your videos. Been listening to you on WoodTalk for years, and I'm really glad you guys un-quit. A couple quick questions: what in the world do you do with all the sawdust and off cuts (like the first bit of bark you cut off the top)? And I'm assuming you sell these slabs? I have no way to buy one and I'm in California, so I'm really just curious. Thanks again!!
You sawed it up nicely, it's a good tool preparátion. your machine's wheels turn every minute, and wat's the diameter in inches. thank you in advence for your ansver
The only reason I've been avoiding red oak is because it's all I used when I started, mostly buying the really bad s4s boards from home depot. Might have to give it another shot at some point.
Watch you over the whole sawmill start to now love it! By the way are you intersted in alternative energy that is not solar or wind but far more powerful yet doable on your own?
Can't believe it has been that long since you built the saw. Can't wait to see the move! It is almost its own trailer frame. Are you going to just slap an axle on the bottom and a hitch on the front? Voila. Mobile saw mill!
Hey Matt, Like your content! Did you say you get carbide blades for $170? please tell me where? I'm paying more for a 116" blade and yours are way bigger.
Very interesting information in this video like how a tree growing on an angle creates stress and exotic grain patterns. How did you learn all this stuff? If you do not answer, I will assume you were raised by tree elves. I am mesmerized by these videos and i can't stop watching. Anyway, thank you for sharing!
Will be odd watching ya in a new video at the new place. Get a bigger skid steer and extend the road rame a few feet :D ;) Good time to sell prices are stupid high.
Clever and hard working. Can you imagine how much work he has been doing to move into a new house, move his shop, keep making videos throughout all of that, and still making workbench kits? I bet he will be happy to sell the house and cross that big project off his list.

"You don't have to stain wood". Agree. Time and circumstances might change hues and/or leave marks, that's the charm.
I'm sure the neighbors will be happy to see you haul the saw mill out of there. Peace and quiet at last! Beautiful red oak Matt!

Anyone else hear the shouts of 'wohoooo!' from the neighbors as Matt declares this being the last day of sawmill stuff? 🤣
FYI, Matt and Lindsay have said that they have very nice neighbors and no one ever complained, to them, to the city, to the police. Nada.
lol I would be happy to see that mess of a yeard go away.. nice people they sure are but the eye sore and the noise and dust from the sawing drifting every where ugh
I am always amazed at how much weight that skid steer can hold without tipping over.
Totally agree. Stout hydraulics and some massive counterweight. That log grapple is pretty amazing too.

That skid steer is worth its weight in gold handling the wood.
Glad that you will be posting more videos- I've missed all the beautiful slabs!
WOW, it is so great to see you are keeping on keeping on, thank you!
The end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Best to you and you whole family.

in Bob Hopes words thanks for the memories . Spent many a night watching Andrew cut or build it . looking forward to the new digs . Have a day eh
Enjoy watching you cut. You sure know the grains to get a great slab. Good luck at new location.

Me too !! You sure know how to handle the "big stuff" !! Heavy duty, dude !! Enough snow for you, I'm sure !!
Holy cow you've been pumping out the content lately Matt. Hope the move has gone well!
Almost caught up! Move went smoothly. Just have to set everything up 😑
@@mcremona Cant wait to watch it all come together
This was a great video Matt. Hope you’ll have a video of move of the saw. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
Thanks Jim!
I totally agree that you don't need to stain wood. Each tree has it's own character. Just go with it.
Will be interesting to see you moving the mill. I assume some disassembly will be required.
Interested in seeing your new mill setup at the new place.
I learned a lot. Good luck in your life style.

The end of an era. Nice video Matthew.
Matt, you are so efficient and smooth moving those huge logs around these days!
Always working smarter. Way to go.

Hi Matt, love your videos, and that sawmill is awesome. You don't by any chance have the plan for your sawmill?
"You don't have to stain wood." I'd never heard that before and has never occured to me. Thanks.
I lost count of all the project that I worked on that were not stained when I worked in as custom cabinet maker.
Will you... or, did you do a video yet to come of dismantling and moving and then resetting up the saw mill? Probably not I imagine for it being too much work and you just wanted to get it done. Always love your content!

Red Oak is under rated. Beautiful Wood! The old houses were mainly White Oak because Red Oak had a tendency to rot viruses White Oak.
Wanted to watch a log being cut up and got some stealth education as well - really interesting about the growth of leaning trees / limbs
An oldie but goody!
Cremona mobile band saw, with your skillsets, definitely obtainable. But would the content and plans be worth your time? 🤔 Anyhow, always love the content you create and the positive vibes you represent. Thanks Matt.

I just cleared the debris off the asphalt. House sold last Friday. Thanks!
any plans for the milling area at the new place? keep thinking you could make a roof/shed to keep the weather off the saw carriage
It’ll be a while but yes

Used to live in Brooklyn Center. Moved in 2006 about 45 minutes away. Things sure have changed.
Have any neighbors complained about the noise or your log/equipment collection?

When building the sawmill, you mentioned adding hydraulics to maneuver logs. You haven't mentioned them since you got the skip loader.
The only reason I've been avoiding red oak is because it's all I used when I started, mostly buying the really bad s4s boards from home depot. Might have to give it another shot at some point.
I had the same introduction

600th like and not a single dislike. That’s a pretty good satisfaction percentage right there 💯
i can not believe you would throw water on the boards when it is still freezing. does that not affect the wood
Matt, do you notice having to change blades more frequently when cutting frozen wood or is it negligible?
He’s using carbide, probably doesn’t change blades at all.
You are very cool. Head Sawer from days gone buy, butt end first is a cardinal sin according to the man that taught me to saw. Just say'n.
