The Smith-Corona typewriter/word processor we bought twenty-five years ago and that I finally started using for the first time yesterday was sold to us as an out-of-the-box special so the original shopping bag was the only cover we ever had for it. I really appreciate your creative ideas. I think I'll just use a towel. ;-)
I love it, was about to buy an expensive fabric because ready made covers were even more expensive, then I came here and I am so glad I did, your a Tipe Writer life saver. Thanks so much for this video.
Just yesterday, I used the clear vinyl zippered bag that my bedding came in to make a cover for my typewriter. It's not perfect but it will do the job and I can still admire the adorableness of my machine even when it's covered. I'll have to go make myself mat now. :)
Find one of those cheap, kitchen sink, rubber "dish draning mats". You probably WON'T have to cut it down for your bigger DESKTOP types and your larger PORTABLES either? Works VERY well!
Love this video and all of your videos! I remember you mentioning Shop Goodwill and your reluctance to buy from there as the quality of the packaging could be poor and result in damage to a typewriter-however, I just recently purchased two typewriters from there and they cam packaged very well and arrived with no damage at all!
I DIY’d my own typewriter mat. I used a square piece of styrofoam and tried to use spray glue to apply a felt piece of fabric. The spray glue instantly started to melt the styrofoam. Lesson learned. I tried again but with a less...uh...corrosive glue. It works great. Cost about a dollar.

Two very handy tips, I'll be sure to give them a try. Thanks.

@@JustMyTypewriter no arguments from me! You should start a second channel - just my type-dancer. 😜

Nice- I'll have to try that!
OMG, just what I needed! 😂
Another fun video
Is the plastic cover anti-static? Because if its not, then it would collect dust
It is not, the main thing is to cover the inside from collecting dust!
Can the dust cover be some sort of fabric?
@@Anothy absolutely!
Very good information
