  • Nikita Kucherov is likely going to win the Art Ross Trophy and has a chance at the Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP. Unlike many other NHL superstars, its hard to understand what makes Kucherov so great. In this video we break down how Nikita is mentally one-step ahead of everyone.

    As a flyers fan, Kuch has been my favorite player in the league for years. His style of play is just so different from like 95% of the league. Where as everyone else wants to just be as fast as possible, Kuch says "na" and slows it down. I think it throws off a lot of players.

    One-touch passing in hockey is such an underrated skill. It's a lot harder to one-touch pass like how Kuch does with his precision and vision than it is to onetime a shot on net. And, even more impressive is that Kuch can do it no matter the speed of the puck. As a Panthers fan, I still enjoy watching his playmaking even when it's against us because it's things that seem easy until you try it

      How many one-touches did he have just last night? It was wild. Also his ability to go from boards-to-stick is also unmatched. Apparently he practices that a lot and not sure how many other players are focusing in on that.

    This channel is so underrated and under appreciated. Great insight. Regarding Kuch they are spot on & his board play is 2nd to non in today’s game. Even “the great one” is amazed. Gretzky has said he hasn’t anybody as close to himself with the vision, and processing ability to set up scoring chances. Amazing talent.

    He has made a couple of behind the back passes from the boards on his knees this year that were ridiculous.

    Sweet video boys. He reminds me so much of Datsyuk in the way that you just can’t predict what he’s gonna do with the puck and when he does do something you can’t believe he had the vision to actually make that play. And seeing it in slow motion afterwards it’s still mind bending. Like you said even when watching on TV and being able to see the whole ice you can’t believe where his playmaking IQ is at.

      @AlongTheIceHockey  3 місяці тому +2

      Something I legit noticed last night too is I feel like many times he's aiming just to miss defenseman's sticks. Knowing as long as it gets through his teammate can make the adjustment. He made a few of those last night and it was wild to see

    This could be a 30 minute video and it would still be too short. His IQ is incredible and it all comes from his work ethic.

      100% agree - as we grow we will be able to make longer videos too. Just need to build our base first. A full on Kuch player profile is needed.

    About "Lucky" points that he got - over the course of a season there are bound to be such points just as there are a lot ot missed one because teammates were not ready|were not good enough|straigt up ruined their chances. Most of Tampa offence runs through Kuch and over the season it accumulates to a full highlight video of "wtf, hes so lucky". Could also make a way longer video of "how did that not go in, kuch set this up perfectly".

    NHL has been snubbing him bad. He's obviously the best, he's been the best all year. Yet McKinnon/McDavid get anywhere near Kuch and the official NHL media is nothing but "oh mer gherd look at how good 2nd and 3rd place are"

    hey folks ive noticed the kick save coming back into goaltending (first time since like 1990???) where the toe is pointing upwards with the leg outstretched. (im a D but played goal for 10 years) im presuming this is to fill the "under blocker" shooting hole that has emerged as premium goalscoring. havent seen much talk about this wondered if it interested you thanks!

    • @AlongTheIceHockey
      @AlongTheIceHockey  2 місяці тому

      We've noticed this too - but mostly on the glove side. Righties have been going love glove a ton this year - Johnston did just last night. The leg kick is to prevent that - or try to. This though opens up the five hole. Check out our two videos called "How NHL Players are EXPLOITING the Five-hole"
