    I've got the original Vader X rods, 3lb test curve in the 10ft and 3.25lb in the 12ft.
    Find them brilliant for the the price, so if the new RXs are an improvement they'll be a serious bit of kit!

    06:30 "if you dislike this video, make sure you bash that 'dislike' button - twice" 😂 Took me a second to get that.
    Nice summary of 12' vs 10'.
    I switched from 12s to 10's a few years ago simple because fitting the 12s in the boot with the seats up wasn't working, but with the Sonik recon 12's packing down to 50" I'm considering switching back for the bigger waters

    I had the 10ft 3lb sonik Vader rods and couldn't get on with them, but yea so I got a pair of 9ft 3lb sonik extractor rods and loved them, got the matching 5000 reels to, but when winding in the spools feel loose but there not,anyway it's all them reels do it after speaking to other people who have them, so I got rid of the Vader x,s and just use the extractors now, then last week I got a 6ft 3 lb xtractor to use for stalking or catching them of top it's an awesome bit of kit,feels like a toy but it can take a beating, lovely to cast and you can really punch leads or bubble floats out with it 🇬🇧✊🏼

    Personally I'd say to go one stage higher than you think you might want as they will lose some rigidity over time, my 3lb TC Vaders felt like 2.75 after about a year of regular use. Nice rods for the money though, decent all-rounders and not had any problems with build quality despite frequent abuse

    What's the difference between a 10 ft Xtractor, dominator and a vader? The Xtractor and dominator are hard to get in the Netherlands

    Why such high test curves? When I started I used a 2.5lb test rod.... beautiful to play fish on. You don't need 3.5lb.

      carp are bigger these days in general, if your fishing for carp under 25lb or in very open water 2.5tc is great. in snaggy , tighter swims and against big carp over the 30-35lb mark 3lb or so just gives you more control.
      there's no right or wrong answer really, depends on your circumstances and situation. you'll land fish regardless, different TC's simply dictate your control over the situation etc

    • @DjDolHaus86
      @DjDolHaus86 3 роки тому

      Mostly it's because of bigger average leads used for casting, lower TC rods struggle for accuracy and distance when trying to cast 3oz+ leads and/or solid bags. Contrary to what some believe higher TC rods actually put less pressure on a fish during a fight because they absorb more of the force you are exerting with your arms rather than transferring it down the line (try tying a set of scales to a post and then pulling on them with rod+line and you might be surprised). Personally I'd much rather play fish on a 2lb TC rod but if I need to cast 90yrds accurately to get the opportunity in the first place then I've got to go with a 3.25

      What they said!! The reel also makes a massive difference in terms of distance casting. I predominantly fish large lakes in France with weed and snags so I have a set of free spirit 3.5 tc rods at 12’ and shimano ultegra 14000 reels - 20 wraps with a big solid bag with ease. It’s all about choice. The free spirits even at 3.5tc still give a great playing action but if you need to steer out of danger the power is there! Great video
