Hi ... myself Rocky... I'm from india..I was completed my masters in chemistry.I was to do phd in abroad..as phd student how many hours worked in lab..is daily will come to lab
Hi! Congrats on completing your masters :) for a PhD it’s best if you treat it like a 9-5 job but that does not mean you have to work from 9-5. Working hours are typically flexible(if you agree with your supervisor) but for a lab based PhD you would be expected to spend most days in the lab. A PhD is basically like a normal 40 hour a week job but with more flexibility. Sometimes you will need to come in early or go home late, it all depends
Doing a PhD opens opportunities for research related jobs which you would not be qualified for with only an undergraduate or masters degree. As for high paying jobs, with a chemistry PhD I’m unsure which high paying jobs you can jump straight into after finishing
I believe there are other challenges as an international students such as securing funding. Many of the international students in my PhD lab were actually self funded
There isn’t a PhD course at my university, you apply for specific PhD projects which can be funded but usually they are aimed at U.K. residents or students within Europe unfortunately
Hellow i wanna say that l love vidios, are you a puré chemist or you are a biochemist? I ask becouse in other vidios i see u do thigs related to bio. And am unsure if a puré chemist can work in bio experiments ❤

I’m doing a PhD in chemistry :) I think it depends on what school/department you do your PhD in! I’m in the school of natural and computing sciences in the department of chemistry :) I hope that helps!
Love this content :D I notice you de-gass your solvent before placing it in the solvent bottle for the HPLC, doesn't the action of pouring it in the solvent bottle "re-gas" it? I tend to not de-gas solvents for HPLC since there is an in-line de-gasser in most modern systems and I assumed that was sufficient? I still de-gas my buffers (Biochemist) since they get a huge amount of dissolved gases in them while making them. I'm a noob to HPLC, it's not something we use a lot in Biochem, just trying to learn here.
Thank you! That’s a good question - this is the way I was taught at my current lab but when I worked in Pharma we prepared the mobile phase in the bottle, de gassed it and then connected that bottle directly to the HPLC but I’m not sure if there was a reason for that. I’m also not aware if our systems have an in-line degasser but it’s something I’ll definitely check out! Thanks for suggestions and comment!
yeah this doesnt really do anything in terms of gas content, but it swaps air with the gas that she is bubbling into it. if you want to get all the gas out, you either need to put the solvent under a vacuum (not advised, since it can evaporate easily and also freeze) or use an ultrasonic bath
Chemistry can be super difficult! You’re not the only one who feels this way, I find aspects of chemistry super difficult too. Maybe one day you’ll find your way back into science :)
Do you have to go to the lab daily sister ? Actually I am a undergraduate chemistry student I really wanna know how many hours you have to stay in the lab daily and do you study in the lab or you have to study when you return home ? 😊

@@drjessicagomezb Thank u soo much mam for answering my comment . So that means that everyday when u went to the lab you already planned it in your house that what you were going to do in the lab and you did that ❣️
Hello ☺️ at the moment I am spending one full day per week doing writing and computer based tasks only, so this allows me to start writing bits of my thesis. Working hours are typically flexible(if you agree with your supervisor) but for a lab based PhD you would be expected to spend most days in the lab. A PhD is basically like a normal 40 hour a week job but with more flexibility. Sometimes you will need to come in early or go home late, it all depends
Is there any weekend halidays?
I don’t work on Saturdays or Sundays unless it is an extreme case :) most people take weekends off!
Thank you mam for ur reply and given valuable information 🥰
Heyy i am from India how to get into phd chemistry
can you tell me from where can i get uranium 235
How Phd is difficult or easy? ,i have Indian JRF
What app do u use for planning
It’s an app for iOS called Zinnia :)
which high paying jobs can i expect after doing phd in chemistry
Doing a PhD opens opportunities for research related jobs which you would not be qualified for with only an undergraduate or masters degree. As for high paying jobs, with a chemistry PhD I’m unsure which high paying jobs you can jump straight into after finishing
is ot essy to get in as wn international student?
I believe there are other challenges as an international students such as securing funding. Many of the international students in my PhD lab were actually self funded
@@drjessicagomezb thanks for your reply, but in your university is there no fully funded course?
There isn’t a PhD course at my university, you apply for specific PhD projects which can be funded but usually they are aimed at U.K. residents or students within Europe unfortunately
Hi Jessica I really enjoy your videos❤️, But I have a question regarding chemistry, if possible, how can I contact you?
Hey, thank you so much 🥺If you have Instagram, send me a direct message @myphdandme_
next heisenberg !!
🤣🤣🤣
Hellow i wanna say that l love vidios, are you a puré chemist or you are a biochemist? I ask becouse in other vidios i see u do thigs related to bio. And am unsure if a puré chemist can work in bio experiments ❤
Hi!! Thanks so much 😁 for my undergraduate I did pure chemistry, in my PhD I now do chemistry, microbiology and a bit of molecular biology! Sometimes in a PhD you end up researching in a few different areas of science 😋
@@drjessicagomezb Thanks for responding back then. In the PhD you do it’s in chemical sciences or it’s call different way? I ask because i don’t know mucho about, cause am from latinamerica and wanna move for my PhD but don’t know the name of the PhD you do. I hope you can help me. Keep doing science I do admire you a lot 💓🥺
I’m doing a PhD in chemistry :) I think it depends on what school/department you do your PhD in! I’m in the school of natural and computing sciences in the department of chemistry :) I hope that helps!
Love this content :D
I notice you de-gass your solvent before placing it in the solvent bottle for the HPLC, doesn't the action of pouring it in the solvent bottle "re-gas" it?
De-airing would be a more name, right?
The technical term is de-gassing :)
yeah this doesnt really do anything in terms of gas content, but it swaps air with the gas that she is bubbling into it. if you want to get all the gas out, you either need to put the solvent under a vacuum (not advised, since it can evaporate easily and also freeze) or use an ultrasonic bath
Seems so much entertaining but it was hard for me so i left chemistry
Chemistry can be super difficult! You’re not the only one who feels this way, I find aspects of chemistry super difficult too. Maybe one day you’ll find your way back into science :)
@@drjessicagomezb are you french? Is any phd position available in your lab?
I am actually from the U.K., in these videos I was spending some time in a French lab to do some work for my project :)
Please can you read stories instead 🙏
You're voice is sooo soothing 😴
Do you have to go to the lab daily sister ? Actually I am a undergraduate chemistry student I really wanna know how many hours you have to stay in the lab daily and do you study in the lab or you have to study when you return home ? 😊
Hi! In the U.K. you don’t do classes while doing your PhD, you only do research. Because I was doing a lab based PhD I was in the lab everyday trying to get results. My typical working day was 9-5pm
@@drjessicagomezb Thank u soo much mam for answering my comment . So that means that everyday when u went to the lab you already planned it in your house that what you were going to do in the lab and you did that ❣️
@shinjanchakrabarty6946 exactly! :)

Im glad you found it useful! And thank you for subscribing 🤩
Good morning
Hello!
Hi jessica, may i know how do you manage your time to write thesis and paper?🙇🏻♂️
Hello ☺️ at the moment I am spending one full day per week doing writing and computer based tasks only, so this allows me to start writing bits of my thesis. I would write the paper while I was waiting for experiments to finish and whenever I didn’t have so many things to do in the lab. I hope this helps!
ELHAMDULILLAH MAŞA ALLAH GOD BLESS YOU

Hi! Welcome to my channel and thanks for the sun 🤩
*sub!
Such simple ways of working...a complete opposite to the pharma lab
I worked in a pharma lab before my PhD and yes, it’s very different!
dont throw out empty bottles
Shouldn’t you be wearing gloves during this??
jesse
Does phD mean pharmacy?
💀💀💀
You have to be trolling
Just like working at Starbucks!
next time show the shower please 😞
I'm surprised you put that subway crap in your system.
I like it. It allows me to have lots of different vegetables in my sandwich so I personally don’t think it’s crap :)
@@drjessicagomezb I think I just learned something from you. I'm humbled.
Me actually who enrolled in BS IN CHEMISTRY ⚗️
Amazing!! Best of luck 🤩
@@drjessicagomezb thank you
What's you age when you complete your phd sis?
26/27! My birthday is in March and I’m not sure if I will have defended my PhD by then or not. I did a 5 year undergraduate master of chemistry degree and then worked for 1 year before my PhD so it took me a little longer to get here :)
@@drjessicagomezb cool doc sis you will complete it
gloves..?
Depends what solvents we are working with!
Hloo jessica can you please give your email ID..i have some query to ask about enroll phd please help
