I agree with the basis of his talk but you still need a separate system for quarantine. Be it fish or coral you do not want to just throw things into your main or even a separate tank plummed off of it without isolating the new piece first. If you thought it was bad when you have one tank crash or develop a problem try multiplying the headache by plumming two together and not quarantining
Hahaha! That comment about Buffalo wings and beer was a comment I made on his video trying to explain why that house had a sloped roof and crooked wall.
Great video. He is so right about everything he said. His comments on the AIO tanks, especially nano AIO's, was dead on. My first tank was a small (13.5) AIO and while I do like Nano tanks, I quickly learned the downsides to them and I am not talking about the swings or care of them but more of the design of them. They are just o.k.. I still have that tank up and running but many design things with it give me nothing but frustrations. The small AIO sump probably being the biggest. And if I am going to run a nano into an existing larger system, then there really is no need for an AIO with a built in sump. And yes, skimmers are pretty much pointless on a tank like that as they do very little to nothing. Water changes on a tank that size are a more efficient way of export.
I agree with ya man and to add in my experience with AOIs I started with a JBJ cubey 20 gallon...all i can say is stay away i hate the dam thing the built-in lid warped and caused the top seal to break and spring a leak for the 300plus i invested i wish i had just done my own build and have...the jbj is my bastard overpriced quarantine tank lol...take care good Sir and sorry for the ramble ;)
@@freemansaquatics5326 Wow. Yea I would be a bit pissed about that. I scrapped the lid to the nano I mentioned after one week because it was just crap. I was always getting a ton of salt creep and so on. I just made my own. I had to buy a new pump within a week, not because the pump was bad but it was a little underpowered. I had to correct a design flaw within the sump as the second chamber of the 3 I had had a hole at the bottom of the chamber that led directly to the display. This made no sense because water could bypass the first chamber from the display and go straight to the second chamber completely bypassing my Filter Floss, Bio Beads, and Activated Carbon/GFO which sit in the first chamber. I luckily was able to do so because In Tank makes a plug to address the design flaw. Unfortunately I could not see it in the store because the tank was in a box but right when I opened it I noticed it.
Good overall talk by Mark, although I think it should be streamlined a bit more, the first third of it was him talking about himself and what he's done. Now I know you want to lead with that so people who don't know you (all 2 of them in the room) can understand your background but cut that to a few minutes.

@@lonestarpatriot876 🍻 man you have a great day :)
Good advice ! One may have thought to keep two separate systems in case one system crashed
Great info Mark! Well done!!
Great info thanks 🙏
Nice vid Mark, love your humor. Are his books still for sale? Can't find them on amazon..
We would not be certain on this actually! Sorry!
YO I WATCHED ALL THESE VIDEOS
Sorry I missed this talk in person. Re-booking flights away from Dorian takes president.

T5 and Halides have more aesthetic lighting yo
I wonder why he doesn't talk about turning that "second old tank" into your quarantine tank...
