I'm just starting on Obsidian! ~ would love to see a full playlist from you. Like a walkthrough on very basics to using different plug-ins, and making the "second brain" a reality. Ow wait, you can name your playlist, "The Second Brain", lolol. Btw, this is your first video I'm watching, and loved the quality of your video, man ... Even though it's super long, I still didn't want to speed up, and watched it full; thank you @djlensing Tw T
Some basics may be: - Good and bad practices when naming files depending on different possible uses of the vault, such as using dates as names for a diary, or using decimal classification. - Usage of plugins (The importance of evaluating plugins to ensure they align with individual workflow needs, not just installing everything you see). - Specific Obsidian configurations that are generally recommended. Such as "Automatically update internal links" option. - Tips for saving time, such as using templates or keyboard shortcuts.
Holy cow. The quality of your videos in terms of editing and clear, concise presentation of info is easily that of channels with hundreds of thousands if not millions of subscribers. You exactly solved my obsidian sync for free problem. Thank you! Keep it up! Liked and Subscribed.
I swear I though I was watching a youtuber with at least 500k subs, keep up the good work man, don't try to go over the bar, just keep a consistent look and template your videos with the level of commitment you are doing right now, I am pretty sure u will blow up sooner or later.

Super! Enorm hochqualititiver Content sowohl inhaltlich als auch von der Aufbereitung her. Da ich selbst Podcaster bin weiß ich wie viel Arbeit in so ein Video fließt! Hut ab. Very much appreciated!
Thank you so much man!! It worked like a charm. Anyone else trying out google drive option, you need to first download drive for desktop, and then choose the obsidian vault folder and sync it to the google drive :)
I wanted to express my appreciation for your detailed guide on syncing Obsidian to various devices using Synchthing. Your instructions were clear and concise, and I followed them diligently. However, I encountered a small hiccup that I believe might be common among users. After following your steps, I found myself unable to accept the notification to sync in time before it disappeared. This led to the file not syncing and appearing on my mobile devices. After some lengthy figuring, I discovered a solution that I think would greatly benefit your viewers. It seems that tapping on the web GUI button located on the left side of the app allows users to access the sync options, where they can accept the sync request if they miss the notification. Including this aspect in a revised version of your video could help others who encounter similar issues. Thank you once again for your informative content, and I hope this suggestion proves helpful for your audience.
shitty obsidian does autosave after a few letters, it will kill my phone sd card when syncthing triggers every tiny edit. needed to tell sync thing to sync every hour and then make manual sync if data is needed quick -.-
Fantastic video. I tried to do this before and was confused/impatient/nervous about sharing data. This clarified and simplified the process. Thanks a ton!
Thanks a lot. I am a Student with no money at all and will definetly pay one day for that service but for now, you safed me. Thx for the amazing quality of your videos btw. And Grüße from germany :).
Forget about the content you presented and I watched, your quality of content presentation and the way you were trying articulate the information was very good. Wonderful job dude! There is something to learn from you in terms communication. Glad I saw your video.
Late to the party, but I wanted to say: Thank you. Even a not-so-tech-savvy person like myself could follow your guide for syncing Obsidian on an Android tablet. :)
Thank you very, very much. Syncthing is quite the solution for me, and it can also sync other folders, so I also started to sync the configuration files of some apps I use as well. Obsidian is much more useful when I can use it accross all of my devices, too. Definitely a quality of life improvement all around.
17:11 why cant we keep at least one of the folders, that being the phone or the pc one, on the cloud? how can we keep the data safe online when using syncthing?
I use a MacBook, an Android phone, and an iPad. It seems like there’s no way to sync obsidian between the three other than the official paid sync, because the Android phone does not have iCloud and obsidian for iOS only supports iCloud.
Unfortunately, there’s no official sync method that covers multi platform. I ended up paying the Obsidian sync option. It’s quite expensive if you ask me but, on the bright side though, it’s the right price for my notes privacy and encryption.
I came across your page and was impressed by your ability to convey complex concepts in simple, accurate, and clear terms! I have subscribed to your content and look forward to more insightful updates!

I tried different tools to sync my obsidian fault over windows, Mac and my recent iPhone, now to Android. My result: the small amount of bucks is the easiest option to sync all devices without trouble and helped me to concentrate on the real work. BTW: I think it's fair to spend these Euros to the developers for their great work
On syncthing what happens if I edit my documents on my pc offline. Then edit my documents on my phone then connect to the internet? Do I lose my changes I made on pc?

Thank you. Obsidian! Good warnings on backing up and not using multiple synchronizations at once. Obsidian sync has been flaky recently so I switched to SyncThing just yesterday. Well done on the visuals, and the narration. Good mix of having a script but sounding extemporaneous (is that word from public speaking all those years ago?!)
I have a question... with SyncThing... if the computer with the main vault is at home and I want to sync with my mobile just using 4g... Will it synchronize while both devices are outside the internal network? (the network at home, the local network) thank you.
I know that Syncthing doesn't exist for Ipad bu does Autosync option exist in Ipad? Wanted to use it for school work and it is frustrating that I couldn't found any simple syncing option. I don't want to pay for the server as well.
Thank you so much, this is really clever, I'm not sure if I'd figure this out by myself! 💗 I can't afford the subscription, so I've never used Obsidian before, but it seems to be incredibly useful. 🙏🏼 I hope they'll never change how the local folders work 💗

Does the one folder-pair limit of the One-Sync trail version include subfolders (multiple Obsidian vaults) under a single higher level folder? And/Or many subfolders within a single Obsidian vault folder?
Brilliant vidéo ! Still struggling to sync my ipad to my Google drive vault. (Can access to my vault with MacBook and android phone thanks to your video) Any solution to sync ipad, Mac AND android ? Thx
Thank youuu it worked. I encountered a slight issue tho using Autosync for Drive where my synced local vault folder from my laptop appeared under 'Computer' > 'My Laptop' in Google drive and there was no option in Auto sync to sync any files from there except from 'My Drive', 'Shared with me' and 'Starred'. To solve this I shared my Obsidian vault folder to another google account on drive and logged into that account on Auto sync and selected that folder in 'Shared With Me'. Hope this helps anyone else encountering this same problem ❤
One thing I'm curious about...do you know what leads to file conflicts in SyncThing? It almost always works, but sometimes, a little error message will pop up and tell me that there are conflicting files, and I have to pick one.
Echoing everyone else's sentiments. Love your style, super clear. Refreshing. Please keep up the great work! Yep... I subscribed... yes... I backed up!!! I hear ya.. my bad.
For Mac Users Syncing is almost transparent using iCloud Drive Syncing and having all your machines have Desktop and Documents sharing enabled. They all share the same Documents folder (and Desktop), and for Mobile as long as you create the original Obsidian folder from iOS there are nearly zero issues. I say this because there is an issue with iOS finding a folder that is already created, so by creating it on iOS and placing it in the iCloud drive Documents Directory, it will be available on all Apple devices if you are an Apple Household...
And do NOT use it in combination with iCloud for Windows or you'll end up with a lot of issues (like duplicate files, files that don't open, missing text/content,...).
I did the syncthing but it made me lose all my plugins. Now I have 0 plugins installed on my obsidian on pc and I forgot the names for a lot of them so I gotta track them all back down and redo all the colors and icons.
Did you backup your files? The information about the plugins is contained in hidden files that should be part of your backup. Can't stress enough how important backups are. They are very important.
Is it possible to set this up with a single folder from a remote device rather than the entire vault? For example, I want to take all my notes from my phones and sync them to a folder on my desktop without sharing the entire desktop vault back to the phone?
Thanks for this video. I was about to try git sync, but I'm glad I found this since I was already using syncthing to back up my s22's photos to my unraid nas. Installed synctrazor on the desktop and now have my phone and desktop pointing to a shared folder on my NAS. I just need to get my backup game setup before something goes array.
