@themowerman the great lady from chicanic, bre, says the same about these pre mixed fuels ;) Get rid of it and put your own fuel in it!
Spot on mate. Thumbs up 👍👍
I used to get quite a few in with to much oil in them. Great job Mick and as you said its all about education.
Ta for watching mate
I’d guess that has had straight 2 stroke put in the tank then emptied and refilled with proper fuel. Nice you got it going
Prbably got an aditve.Great job Mick as allways. All the best to you all.
Thanks mate
I thought when you cleaned the carb and it was all oily that the fuel was suspect. Surprised you didn’t ditch it straight away. You normally do. New Mick rule. When fixing 2 strokes put your own fuel in that you know is good! The old stuff is probably useful for cleaning mower decks!
it looked very awesome to me there mick's cool Weedeater
Really good vid and a very common issue. I think it has been grossly flooded and stored flodded - this leaves unburnt fuel in the crank - this will then go stale and it will then prevent the machine from starting as old stale fuel keeps being pusted into the combustion chamber
Well done Mick on getting that going 👍👍👍👍
I’ve run into fuel looking fine, but you can’t burn it with a torch. Good catch!
The 2 orange triggers are designed to latch keeping revs on 2 pulls choke on then drop choke off pull again fires straight off when fires choke half till warm then off , had mine years and fires everytime this way. Great videos though Mick
Nice video and nice machine. Tanaka is a epic brand in class with Stihl and Husqvarna if you ask me - great quality 👍
Nice work mate 👍
Thanks 👍
As soon as I saw that it wasn't firing but chugging fuel vapour out of the exhaust I said to myself " flooded or wrong fuel mix, you need to drain the machine and start fresh with your mix that you know works.
I mix my own and never use premixed fuel, I use a bottle marked petrol then 50:1 40:1 32:1 and 25:1 in clear marked lines and only ever use top quality petrol not E10 muck and I've never had an issue.
Another idea that came to mind is these tiny two stroke carbs are so finicky it only takes a slight but of wear on a mating surface and they don't run right.
At 13 minutes and I am wondering if there is too much oil in the fuel because of how smokey it is. I wonder if either the Aspen had been left for too long or if someone added something to it thinking it needed two stroke. Well done.
Not my approach. Check for spark, compression test whilst plug is out. Drop a bit fuel down the barrel, new or working plug back in. If she fires its fuel, carb or lines.
Fuel lines breaking down. Reacting with fuel/ oil.
Great stuff 😊😊😊😊😊
Mixed the petrol with engine oil maybe ?
Hi Mick
Years go a I bought a strimmer that smoked and wouldn't run properly.
I took one look at it and the fuel was too red. Instead of a 50:1 mix, they had made a 50:50 mix 🙋♂
Maybe they added 2 stroke oil to the aspen 2 stroke fuel so it's too oily?
Also in the past I've had strimmer's not run because the spark plug cap has earthed out. They only ran if you had a spark plug tester in line, but not if the spark plug cap was on top of the spark plug. Solution, change spark plug cap😁

Strange one that.
Maybe diesel oil.
Always change fuel first do you also do a vacuum / pressure test of crank case to check the seals ?
Yes I did..
@@themowerman we have had no end of problems with canned fuel if a machine comes in with canned fuel first thing we do is drain and add our own fuel to rule the canned fuel out .
possible they put 4 stroke oil in it
I thought at first someone put regular motor oil in the gas but then I thought you do have a shelf life for motor and two stroke oil so maybe this reached its life expectancy and hence failure to start ?
Did they put the wrong oil in the mix
Also when i bought mine someone told me it is basically a kawasaki engine as parts cross fit , ive replace the purge bulb system with kawasaki one as Tanaka was not available. Great machine keeps on going and going and mine has the strim head , brush cutter, chain saw, and hedge trimmer, best bit of kit ive ever been recommended to buy. Next to my qualcast 14" cylinder. Pre owned by the ground keeper of west Bromwich albion football club and Birmingham City club now retired bought privately beautiful condition. I've cleaned and stripped the carbs thanks to watching your videos , keep up the good work Mick
Almost looked like it had a bit of diesel fuel mixed in the gas
Engine oil?
Micks, you can send them to my channel and I’ll show them how to mix oil and gas and I’ll tell him where I got the information from
Every machine I get in first thing I do is dump out the feul
Snake oil as Tayral dactyl says is my guess for the residue.
On a separate note I'm struggling to find a recoil spring for a Robin NB04 vintage strimmer, any ideas where I can look? Google flee bay etc don't give me anything
Well that would be where I would look mate
Mick, can you tell me please what the ratio is for my old Mc Cull chainsawn. Great video. Cheers.
40 to 1
What is the make and model mate
