I'm a huge women's football fan and am watching the Worldcup very intensively.
So awesome how match the standard of the game has improved over the last few years and world ranking places almost say nothing about the strength of the teams.
I was rooting for the USA because I really wanted to watch a final between Australia and the USA (Sam Kerr vs. Kristie Mewis). There might still be a final between Australia and The Netherlands (Ellie Carpenter vs. Danielle van de Donk).
Love how the Matildas are coping also without Sam Kerr, although I was excited to see her been substituted into the match in the 80th minute.
Interesting that the first goal for Australia was scored by Caitlin Foord, who was in the midst of the first drama of the Worldcup (there are rumours that Caitlin is dating Irish Katie McCabe and therefore McCabe's ex-gf of 7 years, Ruesha Littlejohn, refused a handshake with Caitlin at the start of Australia's first match against Ireland).
oh my gosh thats some drama! im suprised gal pal hadn't told me, she's usually on top of all this hahaha. Since being my first game, I obv dont know how the standards have changed, but I was pleasantly surprised when I watched japan vs norway the other week, players respectful of each other. Aus vs USA wouldve gone offfffff!! ahhah. Here's hoping Australia gets to the finals!! im so keen to watch tomorrows game on tv

I am from Denmark, and I was watching the game, of course. Still cant believe they lost, but Australia was better so congratulations. Fun fact...the Danish Captain, nr. 10 Pernille Harder, her girlfriend is Magdalena Ericson, captain for team Sweden. I am right now watching Sweden playing against Japan. Their game against USA was really a thriller... :)

Goddamn the crowds sounded waaaaay louder in Sydney then in WA haha! (our crowds were still loud, just not as loud as that) That was such an awesome game, you two were so lucky to go see it! Hope you both enjoyed the experience 💕
