- In this video I will show you how to make a chicken watering bucket that's easy to fill and maintenance free.
Regarding the link I mentioned: I tried selling the poultry nipples on my ebay site, but no one was buying. So I have pulled the link for now. Sorry:( - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
have been watching all your videos... thanks so much for all the information. my partner and i have two 5 month old chicks and two 3 month old ones. he is now building a coop and run similar to yours... you have inspired us! thanks again! ;)
Loved this and your Chicken coop vid.
Absolutely great! I found the water nipples on Amazon. About $5 for 10, and shipped in 2 days. Again, thanks!
By the way, if you want to help prevent the water in the bucket from freezing. Dissolve a 1:1 ratio of salt into hot water. Put in a thin plastic water bottle, place inside the larger bucket. This helps the water in the bucket stay above the freezing point without electricity.
QC Supply has push-in nipples that work well too ! Great video - thanks.
Excellent video, thanks!
I really love all of your videos! Do you ferment any food for your chickens? Do you buy premade food or do you make your own? And what kind of treats do you give your chickens?
Megan Mathis I give the chickens a lot of veggies, fruits, and pasta leftovers. Be sure to do a search for foods chickens cant eat. I just buy premade chicken food at Agway or my local ag supply store. I have never fermented any food for the chickens...
Well done video. Thanks!
a correct zize o ring around each one would eliminate the caulk.
you can buy them by the dozens
Thanks for the info.
It would have helped the video had you included a demonstration of it working. I've just gotten some, and I'm not sure if I've used them incorrectly, or if they're all from a bad batch. Seeing how it's supposed to work would have helped me decide that.
In my chicken coop tour video (the vid w the most views) the chickens use it
Where's the link you mentioned?
The caulk isnt needed. They screw in tight with the right size drill bit. The thickness of the 5 gallon bucket bottom (on the flattest part) fits well with the thread. Its going to drip occasionally anyway. It has a rubber gasket on it.
Good video
thxs!!!!
Do you hang the bucket by the handle ?,full 5 gallons or less ?
Yes i did hang it by the handle. Two hooks if I recall, to make sure it didn’t shift. I filled it all the way to the top
Where can you get the 11/32 drill bit? At home depot?
+Ma QianLi Yes I am sure that you can find them there. I bought mine at ACE hardware...
how did you keep it from freezing?
Over the winter you’ll have to go w a heated poultry fountain if it freezes where you are
Can you simply put an 11/32 nut on the back side of the nipple? Like it goes pretty deep into the bucket, why cant you slap a nut on there to make sure it's extra secure?
The silicon is important to prevent leaks, whether you use a nut or not.
I would think that you could 👍👍
what is the height of the bottom of the coop to the ground from where the water bucket hangs from? Thus how far from the ground are the nipples? Very cool... Thanks
Does';t algae develop in the bucket? Couldn't use that idea here, the water needs to be fresh
Karen Mitchell we put old pennies in ours. Also apple cider vinegar helps ;)
The missing link! Lol!
