@houseofdrones , @crossframeproduction and friends hosted a whoop race this Saturday. Was great to meet everyone and lots of fun to fly.
Recorded DVR from HDZero goggles while racing 65mm 1s drones with either HDZero or Analog VTX set to 25mW.
In this multipath RF environment, HDZero was easier to fly with for sure. However, the added weight of the whoop lite VTX vs. an integrated or light Analog VTX makes a noticable difference for me with 65mm whoop builds. Both were great, but the Analog setup was a little more fun to fly and felt a bit faster.
Going to try HDZero with 35mm props next..
Analog build:
Fractal 65 frame
0702 28000 kv motors
31mm biblades
betafpv C03 cam + M03 VTX
linear antenna
HDzero build:
Meteor 65 frame
0702 28500 kv motors
31mm biblades
HDZero whoop lite cam and VTX
linear antenna
This is the only video that helped me see the difference in quality, thank you so much! I honestly thought hdzero looked like analog with worse multipathing, but now that ive seen them side by side, i see that hdzero doesnt have any color distortion or warbles, something im so used to i didnt notice!
thanks, glad it could help someone haha
True but I would say it’s one of those things that don’t matter unless you’re trying to do hard tricks or you’re pro but in that case why not just use DJI O3?
Tl;DR DJI is terrible for racing. HDzero is legit.
So I bought HDZero. I also have DJI 02 with the googles v2, and have had them for awhile. Three reasons I don't race with DJI, and I don't think the 03 is different. One is latency. It doesn't bother me til I'm in a real race. 2nd, the video will freeze or stutter occasionally if the signal isn't perfect. 3rd, it's a two way transmission, meaning the goggles are transmitting back to the drone, and it messed with other pilots in the pit. You can disable it, but you lose even more reliability.
As for racing with the hdzero, it's nice. For a regular outdoor race, it's nice but not groundbreaking imo, and not worth it if you have a budget. But indoors is great. Analog video stretches and distorts in high noise environments and hdzero doesn't at all. There's other cool bells and whistles but that's what matters imo.
in this particular case weight is a big factor. for 65mm whoops with a dry weight under 26g, its just not possible to use DJI O3@@ZK_-hs5es.
Again analog is even lighter then that, its not hard to build a 20g dry weight analog 65mm whoop
Nothing shows off a digital FPV system better than an indoor environment. This is far more pleasing to watch than the DVR recordings I make of HDZero or Walksnail flights outdoors at the park.
Great race!
Great way to showcase HDzero!! Now i want to buy the goggles 😅
Damn bro! HDzero blew me away
Cheers! yea the clarity is great :)
Awesome flight,I really have big doubts to pas throw to hdzero ,I like the quality but some times that breackup noise it s so disgusting, nice video to compare it thanks🙌
That analogue is really clean, what setup are you using please
Wow good editing And cool music 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome mate! Was such a fun event. 👍
Have fun!
What camera you got on the hd zero?
For example ( i am a beginner :)) Can i Use the Meteor 65 pro with the HD Hero cam and still use the Lightradio 3 elrs and V3 Googles von betafpv ?
Controller should work fine, if you buy the quad with elrs. For hdzero Video you need a hdzero vtx or the hdzero goggles, which have the vtx built in
I honestly much prefer the analog to HZ0. When it breaks up there's just so much static that its really hard to see what you are doing. Im just getting into this and cant decide what system to get lol
Analog is great to start with if you are into micro drones. It’s the cheapest and would just get one of those new betafpv air65 or 75. I hear they are awesome
Yea might do meteor pro 65 frame for 35mm props. New HDzero eco vtx & lighter camera. Quality is less but weighs alot less and cost less.
Yea for sure, just make sure you get larger than the 0702 motors which I used on these builds. I tried converting my mob6 to a pro65 with 35mm props and the 0702 were not powerful enough anymore
@GeKoFPV yea ciotti saod can't run the 0702 on 35mm. Said ull lose response time and gain nothing.. so guess 0802 kV available are 27k, or 29.7k. 35mm props have a very low pitch.
nice 👌i'm thinking of switching from walksnail to hdzero due to latency. Music track id?
cheers :-)
music is 'Contracts' by skeler
🔥🔥🔥
Awesome flying m8! Can I ask where is it possible to get those awesome LED lights and circles ? Thanks!!
I think those were home built by the organizer :) I don’t know more, sorry..
I think hdzero is great but the breakup is just really distracting since its in Blocks and grey or bright colour
I agree, it can be. But it gets better I think with the 90 fps cam. For me its less distracting since the frames come in faster. But they should really change the color of the breakup to black/white/grey. or maybe just have a 'corrupted' pixel remain in its last uncorrupted state
@@GeKoFPV I'd like to see them try black/white or grey too. They can't show the last pixel state though because there is absolutely no frame buffer in the system, by design to keep the latency low.
Wow, the first switch to HDZero felt like putting your glasses on. Just sad the it also has more breakup, are you using the same antennas for both?
Hey, i used two stubbies and 2 patches for hdzero, and one Omni and one patch for analog. It’s a bit hard to compare from antenna side since hdzero has double the number of antennas as the rapidfire module. But the Omni/ patch ratio was the same for both :)
@@GeKoFPV Analogue uses diversity or frame combining so it either switches between the two antennas (diversity) or takes the best bits of each frame from the antenna with the strongest signal (rapidfire/fusion/steadyview). HD0 uses all four antennas for the data. So a weak signal on any antenna will drop packets. So the optimum is probably 4 omnis if flying around yourself or 4 patches if you are flying in front of yourself. I think that is why they changed from two built in patches and two SMAs on the OG sharkbyte VRX to four SMAs on the HD0 VRX.
i just bought a 2nd pair of HDZs just in case
What kinda batteries ya sporting?
300 mah tattu 1s with Bt2.0
I gotta say, I was hoping (and expecting) HDZero to win, but going around those poles, HDZero was almost completely sparkles, to the point that you crashed into the poles 'cause they were barely even visible. Analog had nasty colour distortions and it was generally less clear, but it did much better in the spots where HDZero struggled - its worst wasn't as bad as HDZero. Even though on average HDZero looked much better, those few spots where it almost totally breaks up is really an issue.
I agree completely with you! This is the nature with digital, even HDZero. Packets cannot be 'distorted' like an analog video feed, they are either complete or corrupted. So the breakdown of the image is more drastic and on a pixel by pixel basis completely binary.
Then again have to keep in mind that the output power here was low on both systems. Also 25mW digital vs 25mW analog is hard to compare as it is a different signal entirely and we rely on the manufacturer 'getting it somewhat correct'
@@GeKoFPV HDZero does slightly get around the issue with digital not being able to get "distorted", where a packet that came through partially is still display, which is the stage where you get breakup in the video that's still halfway the colour it should be (this happens especially in long-range tests, where it's just really low signal, rather than interference/reflections as we have here). That at least helps a fair bit.
damn ur analog is clean, what antennas?
Cheers! I have one linear patch (Menace) and a rhcp omni
Cool video man. Wat did u use to convert the ts file? Ur HDZ footage is so sharp unlike mine.
Cheers! Its just recorded straight as Mp4 from the HDzero goggle. I did not use the .ts file option
@@GeKoFPV oooooh interesting!!!! Brilliant feed man!
Feels like hdz has good picture but worse breakup at certain points, analog is just kind of consistently breaking up at all times but never as badly as the worst of hdz.
I have the same impression. Maybe the new 540p 60 mode of HDzero can help the breakup though, havnt tried that yet
Why is it recommended, what is this
The future and the past ;)
(In fpv tinywhoop drone racing?)
What Geko means is we can enjoy the future and the past within the same set of goggles. Waiting on mine to be delivered :)
dji is typing....
Always analog
