I also use VRP.I buy it by the gallon.I use it on All my vinyl, rubber and plastics. For the tires i cut it 50/50 and it works great ,plus it goes a long way.Great value by the gallon!
I've been using Poorboy bold n bright for over 10 years and love it. My go to for tire dressing. Water based and just the right amount of gloss and shine. Usually apply once all around then knock it down with 2nd pass as I make my way around car and to check coverage. Plus its super affordable at less than $25 for 32oz. Lasts at least a week or longer if no rain
That was a very informative vid. You hit the all the high notes. Believe it or not I had a few issues with things being too slick. Knowing that safe zone was a great call. A well done and informational vid. Thank you, Cris
thanks for watching Cris and yes the safe zone is so important if you drive aggressive with your cars and i learned that the hard way back in the 1990s.
@9:25 Very true I learned this earlier this year I always dress my tires inside just to get that extra look and it's true my truck has tailwiped out of control in freeway ramps.
As usual, another great video but also with a most valid and important point of safety and too much dressing on the wrong part of the tire. Thanks for emphasizing that point! I was surprised you didn't mention your wonderful wheel cleaner product that made the wheels so nice in the first place, it's such a great product and love using it. Thanks for all your research and consistently informative subjects! You're the best You-tuber out there!
I was mind blown when he mentioned the dangers of dressing the shoulder blocks and hope everyone paid attention to that; I'm a broke car guy and so own a 200 hp V6 Camry; but fwd and being broke don't break a driver's spirit haha and so it gets driven like a wannabe racecar and has the best summer tires I could afford; I'd noticed many times that the first few corners and turns after I'd washed the car and dressed the tyres; it would have a mind of its own; the car would go from grating understeer to suddenly neutral to terminal oversteer all in one corner within a split second; it was extremely unnerving even if easily controlled; I'd always wondered if the slippery dressings on the blocks were the reason; I stopped using dressings but only because it's a losing battle in the hot sandy desert environs of the Persian gulf; and thus had forgotten all about the strange sliding after a wash; now, hearing his warning years later and his own story about the ramp slide; I'm glad I had an understeering fwd Camry and not a rwd sports car; also feeling a little proud that I did cotton on to the possibility that the thick silicone dressings on the blocks, in combination with our smooth, oily and sandy roads were in fact causing those scary slides; coming from a guy who works with these things, it confirms my layman assumptions and it's good to know; thank you and hope this small but critical bit of info gets out more.
I use the VRP , Meg’s hyper dressing diluted for satin finish or 303 protectant. With those I’ve never felt the need to shop around. They seem to serve any need and very well 🤘🏼
Don‘t mention automatic carwashes. The majority of your community doesn‘t use them anyway. We don‘t let anyone touch our cars with products we don‘t know. Video is great btw.
The close up on front tire showed the two results perfectly. I am using VRP but going to try the GG Satin Tire spray. Solid advice on the safe application of tire dressings, no need for the surprise slides! Keep on sharing and looking forward to the next video. -KT-
Absolutely love the CG VRP that you introduced me to a while back. Also, the little gripper that adheres to the microfiber pad in another video. Thx for the safety advice ... I’ve not heard anyone else bring it up!
Great video Very Informative!! I Just bought the VRP and Masterson's Tire Spray I Haven't used it yet but planning on doing it on my Next Weekend Wash.
you are 100% correct, i applied meguiars endurance gel(silicone based) on my miata, took a turn and had to countersteer, its a pain to clean, sticking with VRP now
Lucas slick mist has been working really well for me. It's not going to leave that oily wet look but it's also not a matte look either. Kind of in between. It's water based, doesn't sling but gives the perfect amount of shine / wetness plus protection. Check it out
Interesting and informative vlog...I have been using Zaino's Z14 for 11 yrs now for a satin look and no slinging, recently i started using Adams VRT for the flat look on my Raptor, Z14 exclusivily on wife's Mustang GT. Never liked the shiny look and always had problems with CG's products. Thanx for your time.
I've used most popular dressings, including CG VRP, Adams VRT, CarPro Perl. But my new favorite is Gyeon Tire. It does require a more intensive application (clean tires multiple times, and do a final alcohol wipe down (my suggestion though), followed by application, which is then followed by heating the tire and product with a heat gun or hairdryer to make the SiO2 bond). The Gyeon Tire lasts quite a long time, and keeps a matte finish for quite a long time without the browning that happens with other dressings.
Auto Fanatic I’d say it’s designed for the enthusiast, because only an enthusiast would do that much work haha. You can get away with one tire cleaning followed by an application like any other dressing. But if you want the best results, i make sure the tires are super clean, followed by application, followed by Gyeon recommendation to heat it to get it to last longer. But even if you don’t go through the longer process, I still like Gyeon Tire better than other dressings.
once you heat and bond it can you actually get it off the tire with a solvent? does it crack over time at all? i might pick some up just to test for you guys.
Auto Fanatic So the main base of the dressing is that it’s water based with SiO2. I personally have not tried to remove it with solvents, so I do not have an answer for you. Every other wash, I just top it up again just to give it some more sheen, but that’s about it. I feel that solvents should be able to remove it since it’s not some crazy strong coating. And i have had zero cracking. Just one disclaimer I have though, is that it does not like all kinds of tires, especially continentals. I have Continental DWS06, and it doesn’t absorb into the tire completely, and after application it was “sweating”. I had to do a wipedown with a clean microfiber a few times to fully knock all of that down. But I haven’t heard any Michelin’s having issues.
No one ever talks about the fact that the adhesion of any tire dressing depends on the tire compound Itself. I use Ardex water based tire dressing on my Hankook tires on my c6 and they look amazing - similar to the vrp. Same dressing on my nittos for my tundra and it doesn’t shine. It has everything to do with the tire compound.
I switch between CG VRP and Aero Cosmetics -Rubber Care. However the Aero is slowly starting to become my favorite dressing. The matte finish and clean rubber look it leaves cannot be matched. Just my opinion of course :)
I watch all your videos and I learn a lot , I myself have a gt350 I bought some of the sve wheels like yours was wondering were you got the chrome lug nuts and length? Info would be appreciated
I use Meguiar's hyper dressing. Water based. High yield and you can dilute it up to 4-1 if you want satin finish. It does contain silicone though (according to the bottle), even though it is water soluble. Strange.
AF was wondering if you have tried any of the Griots tire products. Have had decent luck with them but may try Chemical Guys. Also I use the the blue foam applicators Griots sell. They last for a few times and cover well. Cheap no cleaning just throw them away.
This was a nice and informative video! Love the car. Now, I would love to see those silver weights on the wheel painted black to hide them better. They drew my eye away from the spokes and tires.
we did a re-balance 2 weeks ago when i did my alignment after the BMR springs and i have not had time to paint them it is too hot and humid so it must wait til next month.
My calipers or grey and now it’s looking rusty and I’m not taking my wheel off I want to clean it with out doing all that so what I can use that’s good
Merci du partage mais ce qu'il serait bien , c'est de nous montrer comme nettoyer une jante noir laquée sans faire aucune micro-rayure?? (comme dans la vidéo)
Thanks for your videos! 2 questions: 1. What's a good applicator? One detailer told me to get grout sponge. 2. For tire dressing have you used Gyeon Q2 tire dressing? Thoughts?
get a simple microfiber wax pad its easy and cheap, the ones i use are posted above. never used the Gyeon dressing i have friends that have it and they always say my tires look better.
yes because I over applied to the portion of the tire that makes contact during corning at speeds, it was a mistake i made almost 30 years ago and its very common today with car washes and detail shops applying dressings to the area of contact patch.
AF, thanks for the info. Perhaps you mentioned on another video, but how would you suggest dealing with the almost immediate oxidation of the GT350 rotors, that lead to rust particles all over your freshly cleaned rims and tires?
According to Chemical Guys site both G6 hyper coat and VRP contain Silicone about 30% by volume per Safety Data Sheet. Is it still safe to use on tires?
Yes watch some of my videos i show exactly how i prep the tires, i did a video on Car Pro Perl that should help you out, simple, effective and easy with no added expensive of buying fancy tire cleaners.
I've been using Meguiars Hyper dressing 3:1 For years. Satin look with a hint of gloss. Any word on the wheel cleaner ? My freshly powdercoated wheels are begging for it !
My only issue with chemical guys is there customer service is pure crap. Dont answer emails And they blocked me twice for asking questions about isues on there social channels
i have to agree their customer service is not the best so i limit the stuff i get from them these days to just a few items that are off Amazon since the customer support on Amazon is awesome and makes up for it.
@@autofanaticcars ive been using amazon anyway.i have only used butter wet wax, instawax, mr pink, i have but havent tried using mirror wet wax, and i like there vo7. I was gonna use jet seal but they blocked me for having longevity conserns so im going with power lock/ bww combo(just to use it up then maybe try the colonite 845 powerlock combo in spring)since my local detail suply store caries menserna products and the colonite 845 Edit i have vss but it didnt work for me with 2 difent types of pads ended up ordering d300 as recomended by a detailer lets see how well that works against minor swirls
awesome video AF, Ive been using G6 but will def order a bottle of the mastersons to test out. Also who dresses the contact patch of the tire? honestly never heard of someone being so dumb. Edit: mastersons also has a tire and trim shine like VRP , off the top would you still recommend using the spray shine?
I do not like any dressings on plastic trim as they tend to attract more dirt . My new 007 spray will be perfect for that it is coming out in about a week or so. I can not wait to get this new product out to you guys.
both are fine, i recently switched over to CarPro Perl and like it much better as it does last longer but is 3X the price of these i show in this video
yeah it does suck but what i do after a wash is i roll the car back and forth many times so it does not happen, i left the keys to the car inside the house so i left it parked after the wash without moving. I really wish it had carbon ceramic brakes.
I washed my car the other day and went up and down my road to dry my rotors. Because of the stones I go slowly. I went only about 25 miles an hour, returned home and saw a pebble got caught between my caliber and rotor. Left a big gouge around the circumference of my wheel barrel. To top it all off I didn’t get them dry enough and still had a coating of rust after a Drive the following day.
do you have factory wheels? many of the aftermarket single piece wheels cause this issue on the front calipers due to limited clearances. it ruined my calipers and many customers as well. to fix the scratch yank the rim and prep well and use a good paint touch up with the Ez dabbers.
I have the factory wheels. This fall before I put the car away I plan on removing all the wheels cleaning (hopefully with your wheel cleaner) and then touching up the scratch. I will be putting a coat of wax on the wheels which I have not done yet.
Chemical guys makes or made masterson products. The chemical guys Tire shine spray is EXACTLY mastersons spray shine. All these products were made by one company. Don’t be fooled.
there not the same as i showed it here, the Mastersons last longer and has much more shine. they may be using the same company to make stuff but they appear to be different
Ruben Samano did you even watch the video he clearly shows the difference using parts of the tires with different product they are definitely different
I also use VRP.I buy it by the gallon.I use it on All my vinyl, rubber and plastics. For the tires i cut it 50/50 and it works great ,plus it goes a long way.Great value by the gallon!
I use CG silk shine on my Raptor and CG VRP on my Escalade and love them both.
Same. Use silk shine on my silverado and love how it looks and applies. Easy on the bigger lugs of the tire.
Fanatic you're the "S"...The tight shots don't lie. Your stuff is immaculate. Good on you... It's very appreciated..
I've been using Poorboy bold n bright for over 10 years and love it. My go to for tire dressing. Water based and just the right amount of gloss and shine. Bought VRP for $6 on prime day. Best bang for the buck
Adams polished foam applicator works great I’ve used it for about 20-25 times and it looks new still
I have try maybe 10 or more different brands and the Chemical Guys VRP is my go to, no sling and so far it’s going 3 weeks strong without browning...
yeah the VRP works well so goes the G6 but VRP does last.
I used CG VRP gives a awesome shine and doesn't sling on to the car if you let dry before moving
thanks for posting your feedback, it does work great

thanks for feedback, detailers wont discuss things that I do this is what makes my content vastly different across the board. AF
Thanks for emphasizing how far to apply the tire dressing. I’ve been searching for it for quite some time.
I am really liking your detailing videos - learned a lot from this channel so far.
thanks for watching. AF

good choice
The VRP is the best! I gotta get a gallon of that stuff!
Yea if u drive 100% faster than the speed limit, I would also say chances for a wreck increase 100%!

In 1979, we used brake fluid on the tires at a Ford dealership for the showroom models. Seriously!
wow the shine on the masterson's is insane. i wonder how it would look on trim
9:30 it’s great. I don’t even know that. Thanks for bringing this point out 👍

Great reviews man! Learning a good amount from your videos keep it up!
Super fan of a red GT350! Nice job it, shows well on video!
I use CG VRP as my dressing. It is water based and easily to clean. simple.
I use car pro pearl, is it a good dressing? It looks very nice in my opinion. I’m just wondering if it hurts my Tim’s
Alain Rivera e
Great!
I like it too. Works great on my truck. It is just a little expensive for regular use.
Alain Rivera No I’m OK
Derek Munro try diluting it! It still works great when diluted 1:1 or 2:1
Thanks for the traction safety warning, I often wondered about that. Excellent!
i learned that lesson the hard way in the early 90s and it changed my thinking forever on this.
Great video. Gives me a more informed decision-making process.
New subscriber! Really enjoy your honesty and your instruction.. I've used some of your instruction already. Thanks bro!
Great 👍🏾 video very helpful thank you.
Kudos! Excellent advice re NOt applying tire dressing on tire shoulder.
Silicone only slings if applied incorrectly
yeah which is almost 99% of the time
Solution > after you've done all the 4 tires, wipe them down with an old rag. Problem solved :).
| Little fucker. most detail shops fail to do that as i explained even when you ask them too.
Auto Fanatic hahahaha lol. That sucks about your tire with the silicone on the edge. I've never thought about that
No one ever talks about the fact that the adhesion of any tire dressing depends on the tire compound Itself. I use Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care. It gives a clean, Satin look.
I like the hypercoat the most by far. I don’t like the wet greasy look. Clean satin looks best on all cars IMO
Comparison to Carpro PERL (1:1) in the future?
I switch between CG VRP and Aero Cosmetics -Rubber Care. However the Aero is slowly starting to become my favorite dressing. The matte finish and clean rubber look it leaves cannot be matched. Just my opinion of course :)
Water based are the best they go on so easily
Nice. Thank you. I'll try these out.
Greg use to work for cg an he knows the right chemicals to put in it to make it better the cg stuff
I've never had that issue with any sort of Tire dressing
Superclean will clean out all the dirt from the rubber. No need for expensive tire champaign.
I watch all your videos and I learn a lot , I myself have a gt350 I bought some of the sve wheels like yours was wondering were you got the chrome lug nuts and length? Info would be appreciated
We used pure coca cola as tire dressing in the 90s. I'm being serious AF. lol
Cheap no cleaning just throw them away.
i am using hyper dressing its amazing
This was a nice and informative video! Love the car. Now, I would love to see those silver weights on the wheel painted black to hide them better. They drew my eye away from the spokes and tires.
we did a re-balance 2 weeks ago when i did my alignment after the BMR springs and i have not had time to paint them it is too hot and humid so it must wait til next month.
Can you show how you clean your wheel wells every week? They are plastic or fabric?
My calipers or grey and now it’s looking rusty and I’m not taking my wheel off I want to clean it with out doing all that so what I can use that’s good
Merci du partage mais ce qu'il serait bien , c'est de nous montrer comme nettoyer une jante noir laquée sans faire aucune micro-rayure?? (comme dans la vidéo)
Thanks for your videos! 2 questions:
I use griots tire shine no sling and i can control the gloss (gel not spray)
I use Optimum Gel. What are your thoughts on the Opti line?
Great tips !!!
Have you ever tried cover all?
So doing 60 in a 30 is not the reason you wiped out, the tire dressing on the shoulder of the tire is at fault?
yes because I over applied to the portion of the tire that makes contact during corning at speeds, it was a mistake i made almost 30 years ago and its very common today with car washes and detail shops applying dressings to the area of contact patch.
AF, thanks for the info. Perhaps you mentioned on another video, but how would you suggest dealing with the almost immediate oxidation of the GT350 rotors, that lead to rust particles all over your freshly cleaned rims and tires?
new pads watch my XP8 pad video or the Ferodo video both help
Chemeecal guys g6 or vrp which is better?
According to Chemical Guys site both G6 hyper coat and VRP contain Silicone about 30% by volume per Safety Data Sheet. Is it still safe to use on tires?
Hello again. Any suggestions on applying those products on brand new tires? Do I need to clean them first? Theyre Michelin. Thank you
Yes watch some of my videos i show exactly how i prep the tires, i did a video on Car Pro Perl that should help you out, simple, effective and easy with no added expensive of buying fancy tire cleaners.
Where is ur rim foam cleaner.? When will it be ready
I've been using Meguiars Hyper dressing 3:1 For years. Satin look with a hint of gloss. Any word on the wheel cleaner ? My freshly powdercoated wheels are begging for it !
Awesome! I need to get my ass outside and clean my 328D and it doesn’t stand for dirty LOL but it is.

I like the Mastersons
is that the adams wheeled chair ?
have you tried malco aquabead?
Isn’t Masterson’s rebranded CG?

Nice video - What stool are you using?
Griots stool check my channel way back i custom modified it and shot a video of the mods
so do you spray the tire shine on the applictor? then massage it into the tire
yes
Would you recommend the masterson for the bottom trim in the mustang? Greats video btw 👍🏼
I do not like any dressings on plastic trim as they tend to attract more dirt . My new 007 spray will be perfect for that it is coming out in about a week or so. I can not wait to get this new product out to you guys.
Auto Fanatic cool!! I’ll be looking out for that thanks for the reply
good video. do you recommend these for dashboards?
never apply any dressing to interior plastics or surfaces bad idea.
OK, can you tell us why? I was under the impression a dressing prevents UV rays from drying out and cracking the dash material. Thanks
JG attracts so much dust and the film on plastic is nasty it reminds me of the old school armor all days .
CG silk shine dresses ing
Have you tried any of Jay Leno's Garage products?
friend of mine has them there pretty good and Jay of course is the car God!
Do you wash the applicator pads?
no i toss them every few months
Thanks for the info also what's the latest with the wheel cleaner?
final version is being tested il be shooting videos soon with updates.
Auto Fanatic can't wait!!
Send me a sample I’ll test it for you for “free” hahaha
I have performance brake pads, would like to see if i can get rid of agitate process
With the Mastersons do you spray on the tire then wipe or spray on the pad and wipe?
on the pad always to prevent any overspray to get on the wheel and brake system
Do you like the spray or the cream trying to decide between the two.
both are fine, i recently switched over to CarPro Perl and like it much better as it does last longer but is 3X the price of these i show in this video
Hey AF...
Is the Meguirs water based?
not sure I stay away from that store bought stuff just read the label or check their website
Auto Fanatic
I'm sorry...I meant is the Masterson''s water based?
I believe so but reach out to them to confirm.
where did you buy those lug nuts
biggest PITA to source these from 2 vendors i had a few sets i sold to other guys already.
I'm still waiting for the AF wheel cleaner lol
you ans 10000 others its coming soon. we are making it even better for everyone youll see new videos very soon on this.
Ok I'm waiting ..... I'm hoping before it gets cold again
Does 60 in a 30 and blames the tire shine. That was funny. Other than that it was a good video
My bottle of Adam’s tire shine is almost empty. That mastersons looks like the ticket for me. I like glossy tires on glossy cars lol
How much tire dressing were u using? Lol As far as I know that tire dressing leaves the tire very quickly, might not last past your drive way.
these dressings really do last
BY 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO YOUR GURENTEED to get ina accident!?!?!?!
It’s a shame your nice clean wheels are going to be covered with rust after you apply your brakes for the first time. Drives me nuts.
yeah it does suck but what i do after a wash is i roll the car back and forth many times so it does not happen, i left the keys to the car inside the house so i left it parked after the wash without moving.
Masterson's looks terrible. Greasy silicone look.
adams vrt blows away chemical guys vrp
lol no it does not
Chemical guys makes or made masterson products.
