This is S-Rank playing, you literally made the guitar sing, and the song feels like MGSV, I congratulate you for making this cover from the original. Pretty good talent.
This is amazing !! I really like Garbage and this song but I find my self putting on this arrangement more often than the actual song. pure gold here. top level !!
great skills, and this is the first video I found on UA-cam posted years ago, with thousand views, hundreds thumb-ups, but zero dislike LOL, and it really lives up to it.
nearly 3 years and still not a single dislike !! thats rare!! im jus sad that people who dont know this song will see this and they will not get how fucking amazing this arrangement is.
Thank you! My guitar is an Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500mce. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Fender CD-60 or CD-60ce, but just looking it up online it seems to be a decent guitar for beginners. It's dreadnaught shape and solid top will be really good for bringing out the bass and if you get the one with a cutaway that might help with reaching really high frets. It sounds like a good guitar but I can't say for sure without playing one myself. Good luck!
I love this cover! I'm gonna learn how to play it ASAP, been trying to arrange it on my own but the results were terrible. Tell me, where can I learn how to arrange songs like this? I try listening to a song over and over again but I can't figure out how to play the chords and reach the frets for the melody at the same time; they are either too far away or i don't have enough fingers. Any tips?
Thank you so much! Alright, just a heads up, this is gonna be a long reply lol This song, despite having really simple chords, was actually pretty difficult to learn because there are so many bar chords and melody notes that are far from the chords. But remember that the same chords exist in different parts of the fretboard. If it's hard to reach the melodic notes on a low Am chord, try using a high Am chord (that's what I did with the intro). Also, you don't always have to do the chords in their "normal" form, especially if you're not gonna be plucking/strumming all the strings. For example, if you notice in some (but not all) of my F chords, I used my thumb to cover the bass note and a few fingers to hold down other parts of the chord, but I'm actually leaving some of the strings open. I try to free up my pinky to use it for the melody notes. Also, doing it that way gives my index finger a bit of relief from having to do bar chords all the time. Then there are parts where i felt like I just had to try to reach the notes for the melody even though they were far from the chord. It's tough, but with enough practice it's doable. If it's not more than a 5-fret stretch, I can usually manage, but not without effort. That last part with the "we are extraordinary people" line was a bit tricky to play because the transition from a 5-fret stretch Bb chord to an F chord was challenging. But with constant practice I was able to get the timing to work, and I used a hammer on technique to help smoothen the transition between the chords - I would just strum/slap all the open strings and THEN hammer on the entire F chord. That gave me time to switch from the Bb position to the F position without stopping the song. I hope that makes sense lol. Anyway, yeah you could also try changing the tuning on the strings to make the positioning of the notes work for your hands better, but honestly I like keeping it in standard tuning so I try to find different ways to adjust. It's not uncommon for me to transpose the entire song to a higher or lower key just to find the set of chords that would make it easier for me to play haha
These are good suggestions, thanks a lot! I'll try to change up positions when I just can't reach the melody frets, the hard part is keeping it consistent and full expecially in the "mid range notes" (You did it with the base slap technique) About arranging and playing songs in this style:I find it a bit hard doing the whole slap/hammer on technique on a high action guitar, hammering on entire chords is nightmarish. Also, i can't reach the base note with the thumb without a lot of effort. I'll figure out a way that works for me, prob lots of practice :D
@@sneakysnek8416 I'll answer cause you had the courage to reply to a 2 year old comment: Yes, I can play it, but not as cleanly as him. It should also be noted that I changed guitar in the meantime.
Thank you! It is my goal to make the guitar sound like it's singing, rather than *just* playing the notes, so I really appreciate that comment! I unfortunately don't have any tabs for this arrangement. I learned it by looking up the chords on ultimate-guitar.com and then trying to learn the melody by ear - it's usually not that hard once you've got the chords, because they provide you with the structure that the melody is based on
Lol I hope you're joking xD but just in case; "Garbage" is the name of the band that did the original song. I should probably edit the title to make it clearer lol

Thanks! That is indeed the goal, to make the guitar sing. It's nice to see people that recognize it. Much appreciated!
Totally true
Still the best version of this song, I've had this cover downloaded on every music player I've owned for like half a decade

Two questions, what is your guitar model? And what do think of Fender CD-60 for a beginner? Or should I get the CD-60ce?
