Excellent, and thorough, review. I popped into Mission Workshop (London) yesterday, to order in a fully loaded R6 in black camo, and for the first time saw the brown waxed canvas version (20L), which I personally think is the most beautiful looking of the Arkiv range. Now I can't get it out of my head. May have to change my order lol
Thanks man. Be sure to check out my other Arkiv review videos of the new items that have since come out (large and small cell pocket along with mini-folio. Side zip pouch review coming eventually.) And yes, my work briefcase is the Laptop: Transit in the brown waxed canvas. I love it. Super nice. It will require care down the road, perhaps in a couple years it will need to be re-waxed and it will certainly patina, so keep that in mind. But yes, it is beautiful. Congrats on the Arkiv. It's a big purchase, but it is a multi-faceted bag with tons of uses.
Hey man, great reviews. I'm deciding between the Arkiv R6 and the WANDRD Prvke. Main concern for the Arkiv is a lack of exterior straps, where i can just quickly tie on a dirty gi or bag of dirty laundry at the bottom (like the WANDRD). That said, is there a way to sew on some diy strap loops onto the exterior of the R6 without jeopardizing it's weatherproof capability? Thanks in advance!
Kreativ* Devgroup I checked out the Kickstarter for the WANDRED Prvke. Cool bag. I must admit though, the Prvke and the R6 are quite different. I'll stick to the question asked though. Short answer yes. Long answer--might not exactly replace what the Prvke is offering i.e. camera strap. All Mission Workshop arm straps as you know have the Arkiv rails. However, what is not apparent is that the rails aren't attached for the entire length of the arm straps. This allows for the attachment of carabiners or the ability to latch on a DIY strap. As for the bottom of the pack, there is a thick bicycle light loop that could serve as a starting point for fastening more DIY straps. And of course the Field Pack comes with its own strap made out of webbing and can attach to the bag from four different points as well. You can always request an extra one of those to double your straps on the pack. Hope this makes sense and helped in your decision.
Great review man! Just want to check with you whether if you know this. I've been wanting to get the R6 in HT500 Grey. but based on the Sanction Grey in color I've seen in Singapore. I saw their bags developing yellow stains over time. I believe those are the 1000D grey. any idea if the bag will stain up like the sanction? Also, Can I wash this bag with just water? Or is it not recommended at all.
Edwin Wee I am not a fan on HT500. I will be doing a review on that material next week! So stay tuned and subscribe if you haven't already. The Sanction comes in two similar colors: gray and charcoal. The charcoal has a TPU coating while the gray one does not. I made a video explaining the difference. Check it out. I am not sure which versions you saw with the yellow stain but it might be the TPU coated charcoal one as the laminate may start to turn over time. The grey one is not coated with the laminate. The gray R6 only comes in 1000D Cordura. Cordura is an exceptionally strong and stain resistant material. I have never seen or heard of it turning yellow. If you are concerned with the bag quality over time, then definitely stay away from HT500 as it is designed to look distressed, like waxed canvas, over time. I hope this helps! And yes just wash with water and use Castile soap if there is a tough stain.
Mission Workshop Reviews thanks for the speedy reply! Aye got it. Guess MW took down the 1000D grey on the R6! Only the HT500! Guess I'll stick to the 1000D black then! Was actually hoping that the HT500 would look nicer.
Edwin Wee if you got the cash I recommend getting the R8. The slate color is very similar to gray and the VX material is much nicer plus it comes with a white hi-vis liner. I own one myself.
Mission Workshop Reviews I guess I'm getting the R6! The R8 is really too much for me. The conversion to singapore dollars is just too much to handle. Heheheh
Hey dudes. Not strictly related to arkiv bags... But does anyone know which bags have a suspended laptop section... Laptops of the floor isn't good for me.
Adam Ki the newer bags have a suspended rear pocket which can be used for laptops, though not specifically designed. So any Fieldpack and Rucksacks that have the Arkiv rails on the arm straps should have suspended pockets. Any of the Cargo bags and older model Rucksacks do not. You can also look at the Rhake and Radian which have dedicated laptop specific pockets with padding.
Neal Paulus several. First off, the R8 has two extra rails on the front of the bag. They aren’t overly useful but do allow for some additional combinations of attaching accessories. The R8 is also made from VX Cordura with a rip stop laminate and has a hi-vis white liner. The R6 is made from regular Cordura and has a grey liner.
Thanks! I think right now Im interested in the transit arkiv which will allow me to add it to an arkiv 6/8 I may get in the future. Do you have a review of transit arkiv separate from transit laptop?
andrew dias yes i did. I have just been getting so much new gear lately I’ve been focused on that. I have quite a few new pieces I am scheduled to review beforehand but once I work through those three, I will do the R8 for you. I will say the end of this video I briefly show the R8. And FWIW, it’s not terribly different then the R6. Just VX plus two more rails. Is there anything in particular you wanted to know about the R8 that this video didn’t cover?
Jon Ultime haha yea. My newer videos have much improved. Better lighting and camera. Different setting. I'll be redoing these older videos eventually. If you haven't yet, please subscribe. New content every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month!
Your reviews are hilarious, hope you make more of other bags someday
Thanks man! Been out of commission for a while on UA-cam but maybe one day. Thanks for watching.

Edwin Wee oh its too much to handle in US dollars too!

The r8 needs a review it’s be months since you said so
