I was seriously debating the purchase of one of these radios. Not only can it operate 11 meters but also both 10 and 12. That’s pretty awesome if you got an antenna for all 3 bands or tuner in line of some sort. Some of the comments was saying “RIP” and everything? I was confused. I open his page and his wife signed him off. Heart attack in his sleep. WOW! God Bless. Sure glad I got some decent information here. Weird that I landed on this video, his last posted video. Rest In Peace, brother. 🤔 I’m not sure whether this is a sign to better watch my health or get this radio. Maybe I better do both... 73! Red Culver, N0TMY, I’ll be clear
The Stryker 955 doesn’t do 10, 11 and 12 meters. Yes, Stryker is a way better radio but you only get limited 10 meter, 11 obviously and no 12 meters. I guess it depends on what you base, “best” on?
But I’m also not going to sit here and lie to you. I’ve owned many Stryker 955’s and one rci69ffb4 (discontinued now) The Stryker is a very loud, very proud radio. The 400 watt rangers are awesome and do more BUT, they require waaaaayyy more power, time, attention, energy, etc. They drift frequency literally by the millisecond, they get extremely hot, minimum power to rag chew is carrier 50 to peak 190, they draw extreme power from even a 4 battery 12v set up, to utilize full frequency spectrum capabilities (assuming you’ll eventually travel to amateur frequencies outside citizens band) you need minimum 3 antennas or tuner, echo board isn’t even accessible, you have to add talk back on the model your referring, on and on and they have decent rx and unbelievably amazing tx but the Stryker is barely below the equivalent. “BEST” you ask? Best rx/tx with minimal effort, Stryker, all day, everyday. Best radio hands down is the ranger but way more efforts to sound basically just as good. You’ll only be a few s units below the Stryker on someone’s rx anyway so why set yourself up for a way more expensive headache? The Stryker only loses 12 meter band over the ranger but the 12m band so small, who cares? You still have 10 and 11m band on Stryker. Hope this helps. Stryker is my favorite radio. Magnum used to make the same radios before selling to Stryker. Any Stryker or magnum you can land is a far step in the right direction when you’re transmission is am. Heck, even ssb sounds amazing on Stryker/Magnum’s. I sold my ranger rci-69ffb4. Ranger sux! 😉
I have a Ranger RCI69FFC4 Bought it in April 2010 is this radio better then what's out there for power. I have radio techs telling me it's putting out 450 watts. They keep offering me $700.00 for it. It's the chrome model.
Good Day, I'm looking for the schematic (service manual) for the RCI-69VHP. Any luck in filing up to the vendor ? They seem no longer in business. Thanks, Fred.
I have a question. Ok i talk on channel 6 a good bit known as the Superbowl. When they key up some of those amps. Their is a winning noise. What is that called.. how can i get my amp to do that ?
Ivan, help me out so I can become as smart as you are. Specifically what did he say in this vid that is completely wrong?? Or, are you referring to some other video? Thanks for your time!

Joe was a good guy. My radio has been working fine for several years now. To bad he passed away from a heart attack. You will be missed my friend.
Crap man sorry to hear this i was not aware that joe had passed.
Rip bud you will be missed.😢
I will stick with my RCI 2950 CD and 2970n2. I believe they are the best Rci Rangers. imo. I operate on single sideband mostly.
Rest easy, Smokin’ Joe.

Actually they are more desirable than a galaxy. Better receiver , one more digit on freq counter twice the power of a 99v2 @90+ watts pep
catch up to who?

How tight does sideband hold frequency? Does it drift alot or a little? I was thinking to use as a base..
590 DX Anything further on this radio? Looking for stable SSB rig and the 2970 I'd don't really care for
RC590 if you want a stable SSB radio and you don’t like 2970--get yourself a Stryker SR-955 HPC
What diodes? lol. You mean Schottky diodes. Probably a drift bucket on SSB.
