Yes indeed my dear, been a fan of theirs since that damn first album in 1970 came out and shocked the world. B!back Sabbath lays waste to most music made in this century! First and still the best Heavy Metal band, and in my top 10 Rock Bands, period. This song and album catapulted them to superstardom. The first album though was a shocker, it freaked out FM radio and they would only play it on college radio. My parents and all my friends parents hated that album. Everyone loves the Paranoid song and album but try the studio original of their song, Black Sabbath, if you have not heard it, it shocked the hell out of a room full if teenagers when when first heard it my friends house, the WW2 generation of my parents just could not deal with that song or album, it was the blueprint for all metal to come. Nice that you come from a household that enjoys them, every generation since mine loves them and their music because they were one of the best ever! When I was a kid, my parents listened to Doo wop and country music. We moved to Houston in 1974, and I found out about FM radio, with all the rock and roll. Then I heard this, I was 14 when I first heard Paranoid, and War Pigs and it blew me away, been hooked ever since. Thanks for the great reaction.
Do you know about their first song "Black Sabbath" from their first album Black Sabbath? I suggest you start this rabbit hole there, because the songs get better as they go. Black Sabbath was always a name that was associated w/ heavy metal music worldwide... even when I was a teen and Ozzy Osbourne was a solo artist, people would still listen to Black Sabbath w/ Tony Iommi (guitar) and various singers... including Ronnie James Dio... Tony 'Cat' Martin... Glenn Hughes... Still, the song 'Paranoid' was always on top of every playlist... along w/ Black Sabbath classics like - 'War pigs' ... 'Iron Man' ... 'N.I.B.' ... 'The Wizard'... etc. There were some great post-Ozzy Black Sabbath songs - 'Heaven and Hell'... 'The Mob Rules' ... 'Children of the Sea' ... 'The Shining' ... 'Headless Cross'... 'Zero the hero'...
Yes, Ozzy was the best and Dio a nice 2nd but every Sabbath album is worth a listen, no matter who the lead singer was because Tony Freaking Iommi is on lead guitar and the musical director on all if them!!! 🎸
Ahhhh this track takes me back! My highschool sweetheart was a guitarist and he played this jam ALL the time. We're both happily married to other people but still keep in touch. Can't listen to it without thinking about him, and high school in general!
