My view on this: Andy has a beautiful tone and very nice articulation. Not an ounce of jazz in it for me, but it’s an interesting and enjoyable solo. Larry’s incredible solo, though more authentic, isn’t altogether jazzy, but again, it’s a great solo, to me. Traditional or be-bop jazz feel and use of the apposite scales etc (Benson, Pass, Martin, Lagrene et al), seems to something a player either has or hasn’t got.
True, but in this case Nuages could hardly be called bebop and in this case both players did a nice job on this classic. On the other hand, Larry could really get into the bop groove when called upon in that context.

Great playing by Andy but Larry is in a different league!
