I don't hear enough of a change to justify the $300+/- difference depending of what model..I do have 2 of the TVP260 and love them but not sure about running out to get the silverline
Nice work man! I was actually thinking of purchasing a bnew old stock id60tvp head with matching cab it's on clearance haha do you think it's still worth purchasing? It's been sitting in the shop for a few years already still untouched I think. The silverline is kinda out of my budget though. But the tvp caught my attention especially I'm looking for a practice amp that has some on board effects. Anyways cheers man!
@@AtTheSourceStudios nice so you update this by just hooking it up to a computer and stuff? Hehe sorry I'm kinda old school not much knowledgeable about tech stuff. Hopefully I'd be able to get it within this month. Head with the matching 4x12 cab. Thanks again.
I had an id260. The reason i sold it was because of the weird delay when switching the channel with the footswitch. Does this silverline still have that issue?
Yes and no. First did you ever upgrade the FW? There is no delay in switching the ID260 with the updated FW. But because of the technology used in the pedal the switching happens on button release not button press which is weird to get used to. They had to do this to allow multifunctionality for each button over an audio cable. However apparently Blackstar are releasing a MD-1 Midi foot controller and you can already control the amps with a Midi controller which will give you traditional switching and this works for the TVP amps like the one you had as well.
From your disclaimer, then, am I understanding right, that the Silverline naturally has more presence, resonance, and gain? Assuming the knobs are all 12 o'clock; except the TVP's Pres/Res are 3, increased to match the Silverline?
Would you say the Silverline is a brighter amp? I have the 150 and like bright amps. I find myself almost bringing the Presents control to 9 at times on the TVP.
Yes it is def better it in the "sizzle/harmonics" department for sure but always remember to dial in your tones with the sound coming directly out the front of your speaker in mind. It's very easy to over compensate the brightness when standing over the speakers. I usually stand back about ten feet after totaling a tone to hear what it sounds like in front of the speakers to double check.
Great comparison. Are you that Enlive guy from the Blackstar forum? Do you still prefer the Super Crunch channel over the OD1 on the Silverline? I mostly use Super Crunch for heavy saturations on my ID30 TVP. Sounds overall more alive than OD1. The only downside to me is the integrated noise gate that eats the sustain, which is less noticeable with the OD channels. Is the feature to fully disable noise reduction on Crunch channels from Insider release 1.8.0 really effective?
Wow dude lol I am the enlive guy! That's crazy I haven't been on there in years! Yes Super crunch is still my favorite besides sometimes I'll record with boosted crunch channel but only for like djenty stuff. I haven't noticed any issue with the noise gate.
Hello my friend. All right? I have a Tvp 30 and am tempted to buy Silverline Special 50. The truth is that it is more than double the price here in my country. My question is, is it worth investing and getting Silverline? Another question. On tvp 30 I don't have access to presence and resonance controls, even on insider. On silverline 50 would i have midle, presence and resonance? I look forward to it. Thanks.
I know you asked this at least a year ago, but on the TVP 30, resonance, presence and mids are accessible on the amp by holding down the TAP button while turning the bass, treble, and ISF knobs respectively. I have a TVP15.
I heard a difference, though I can't really describe it. The TVP was a tad... darker, maybe. In the mix? 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Both were just fine. My questions, is the TVP even available any longer? and What's the price difference? I heard the larger Silverlines have fx loops.
Hey. Yes I agree the TVP is a little darker even after matching the tone from the amp as close as possible. (Not to forget the tone could be made much closer to about identical in post but I didn't do anything here for the purpose of the comparison) The TVP is discontinued now but was recently in clearance for $250 which is the one I currently own in this video purchased about a month and a half ago (lol I know it sucks) so basically the TVPs are found used at about half the price or less than the Silverline now. Any of the Silverline Deluxe models have fx loop available as well as the TVP 60watt and 100 watt versions. IMO if someone's on a budget, at $200-250 for a TVP amp is an absolute steal and is just a joy to record with. Personally if I couldn't afford the new amp I would be very happy with the TVP still. (Might give to my friend, that likes to record a lot, as a gift for Christmas now tho) Thanks for watching!
My TVP iD260 sounds better than my Silverline head...and I'm running that head through a Hughes and Kettner CC412 cab. TVP seems to have a little more gain too. Weird
My question is, does the silverline do that huge jump up in volume when you switch channels like tvp solid state does? that's annoying and I'll upgrade if they fixed that.. otherwise I'll go tube!
There's a demo here which looks like the Silverline doesn't jump up in volume as much. Although the comparisons here change the response control entirely back down as they go up each voice, when I did this on a TVP I think the TVP did jump up more than the Silverline in this video: ua-cam.com/video/TBHgR5vqC5c/v-deo.html
Nicely done. Silverline wins hands down for me, it's generally tighter and the cleaner top end clarity helps it cut through, it's just a shame that in the mix both amps lose a little as the Kick drum overpowers the lower end character and gives the whole kit a "sidechain" feel. Otherwise great comparison.
Hey! I agree the Silverline wins for me too. As for in the mix, there was a low cut on the guitars to make room for kick and bass. Not in the solod demo though. Thanks for watching and for the feedback! :)
They sound equal for me... a small diference in one and another but nothing that justifies the change from one to another in my opinion both are great amps!!!!
I agree they are very close here but not to forget I had to have the Presence and Resonance raised to 3 o'clock on the TVP to match the depth and clarity. In person the tone is slightly different tho which in the end I ended up preferring the feel and sound of the TVP. I believe the TVP is basically a Series One clone (having owned a Series One for a couple years) but the Silverline is kind of it's own thing different from any of the other Blackstars I've played. A little scoopy in the mid range too which some might like or dislike. Basically the TVP is a big sleeper amp these days. Especially for the price they can be found for used.
Great video. I could hear the difference well. The TVP sounded a bit muddier and the Silverline definetely sounded clearer and had some nice undertones (if that's the word). I just think the TVP looks more metal and less hipster, and the build of the casing seems more sturdy with the TVP's.
True that about the more sturdy casing. I had a TVP head drop off a 4x12 onto a street curb (casters on a hill) and not even phase it. Barely a scuff. Can't say I would think the Silverline would fair as well I'm the same scenario. I'll be getting at least a soft case for it if I take it out ever though just to make sure.
Looks pretty legit besides the fail prone cymbals. I still tell people it's a great kit but plan to replace the cymbals within a year. Even with that it's plenty worth the money. If I didn't have a kit already I'd get it no doubt!
Thanx, i think about to replace tvp30 for new silverline but for home is not worth it. Maybe change stock speaker for a WGS invader, i LOVE these speaker.
Haha yeah for sure. I actually like pop music the most to listen and play drums to but I enjoy writing and playing metal and rock on guitar the most. Thank for watching man!
Hahaha nahhhhh had Marshall before. Too fizzy but overall good tone. That's why I like Blackstar no fizz and ultra versatile ISF. (Plus my days of carrying a 412 are LONG gone lolll)
Is this you on both the drums and guitar? What a talent. I love your sound and I find it hard to find bands that sound like this. Would love to hear tracks from your band sometime!
Mmmmm......really nice comparison, great job. But.......change the amp for such small differences? With no dedicated effects loop again? No at this time.
Love the demo! But can’t we update the sounds anytime? So how about downloading Silverline patches to the TVP?
Isn't that ID core 150? İ didn't know ID 150 TVP existed.
I don't hear enough of a change to justify the $300+/- difference depending of what model..I do have 2 of the TVP260 and love them but not sure about running out to get the silverline
Apparently the Silverline also fixes the bottom end issue of the ID260 or so they say.

Silverline has more headroom and clarity. TVP more hair (in a bad way) and narrower. Thanks for making up my mind.

The no fx loop is a rumor. The emulated out and line/mp3 in can be converted into send/return with the blackstar insider software.
