Thanks Bruce,I found this video just now and rerun it to remind me what I have learned from you! I have used FrSky since the beginning ( module and X8r!) , I now fly with X20 using Ethos, it's all perfect for me!!!
Bruce, Hi, this is Larry in the USA and I was on a hobby web page and they are using your review to help sell frsky gear! now I know you are world wide! Have a great day! good job!
Because of your glowing review I purchased two FrSky Futaba systems . Neither system worked properly. The first one worked fine and range checked okay. The module died on the very first flight resulting in a complete loss of control and subsequent crash of my sons brand new Trek-450. The module was completely dead no LED and no signal! The second module simply refuses to bind with any of the 4 extra receivers I bought. The light on the back of the TX module just blinks yet nothing on the RX
Hi, Roger here... have seen a really great addition on trademe for a set of alloy stands for use on the hitec and futaba radios - really useful for the rear mount aerials. Also, a note - Corona DOES have a failsafe, BUT it must be set at the beginning of every flight.
This kind of independant review is long overdue. We have been getting shafted for far too long when it comes to 2.4 RC systems. Good to see some more affordable but reliable systems coming out.
Good review. Im just starting out with Helis and am looking for a cheap module to go with my 9x. I will add this to the shortlist. Looking forward to the other reviews you have coming.
Good review Bruce, I have the Frsky DF combo, plus one extra receiver for my other Heli, mine did come with the Serial lead, I note some didn't get the lead? there was also a CD with manuals covering everything, also winXP/win7 update stuff. The RS232 lead has no coders in the plug just a straight 3-wire to 9-way Fem d-type. Steve
Hi Bruce...I love the information you provide to us. I'm looking to upgrade to a radio with more channels. I'm leaning towards the FrSky Taranis or the Futaba 14SG. Just wondering which one you would go with and why? Thanks
you wouldn't really want to because it has too many channels (would be a bit of a waste of money) and in general you most people feel that you have more control with a traditional rc car transmitter (they are a different shape).
thought I will ask you.Is there a 2.4ghz rf scanner that will display all rc transmitter that is in use in local flying club. I live not far from the club, but want to know if there are any activity of flying before heading there.Any help from you will be great. Thanks
Hi Bruce, love your videos. eagerly awaiting the circuit diagram for the backpack FPV 5.8ghz module. Question for you. can you see any issue with installing this unit in a DX6i?
You talk faster than my former math teacher :D I have a HiTec Optic 6 and I bought a FRSKY but I do not like the antenna position, I want to buy an antenna extension to mount the antenna in place of the FM antenna. This extension can affect some system performance?
Hello Ron here, I found your review on the 2.4 modules quite interesting. I have recently purchaced a Futuba T6EX 2.4 system, have you done a review on this system yet? If not will you be doing one in the near future? I am using the system in my 26cc YAK54. Big flight test this weekend. Will let you know how it goes.
hi just got new taranis x90 plus I just wondering if could other brands receivers and if so what brand are they AndThank you; for taking time to make all these video SESPECIALLY BEING NEW TO THIS?
Offtopic question. I have a second hand Hobbyking HK-7X V2 with no receivers. I can not buy these anymore. Any idea on how i can make this work with other receivers?
Hi Bruce, I have a old style 7 ch hitec FM transmitter and receiver kit. About 25 years old, never been used. And I just start using it for rc car. Now I found it still have interference somehow. I would like convert it to 2.4ghz. Is it possible? Any diy kit would be fit? Any suggestions? Thanks simon
Hi Bruce...great videos. I have been using one of these on my 6 channel Futaba but when I tried to use a new 7C I wasn't able to get it to bind. Not sure what is going on - can these only be used on a single transmitter or ???? Any insight appreciated.
i read this sytem got a safety feature wich make it run slower (servos) when its in the limits of the range, coudl you show in some way how slowely they move when its in the limits? thnk youu
I am surprised, that the frsky is 60mW only and still gives a range of more than 1 km where as I am able to get only about 300 m with the orange DSM2 2.4 Ghz module rated at 100mW! Can you please tell me why this is so?
I have a terrible problem!! after converting my 7cap to 2.4 with FRSKY telemetry module (working fine in 2.4) my 72mhz frequency is a mess. I cant make it work like before, range is obsolette and servo chatters issues appeared. what can be wrong? i installed a switch to cut off 12v when using stock FM module and frsky module... please any hint?
On the futaba / hitec module the case is poorly aligned atleast mine was to a degree that I could not fit it in the module slot. Just losen the screws a bit on the module before you put it in and it will line up and pop right in, then take it out end tighten the screws again. ther is noo need for sanding the case
Can you help me with my problem... My receiver that came with my turnigy 9x ( alredy binded ) pluged in my 10a esc wont respond ;( . i dont know PLEASE HELP
I have to get rid of my FrSky because of very short range! less than a 1000 feet! and I actually lose two models with this particular set up! and I even bother to do buy two different set to see if I have a defective unit but that wasn't the case.
+Migueldeservantes I am very curious about what the exact setup was that you were using. I and several others at the field use frsky and we regularly take our models out well beyond 1000 ft and none of us have had a dropped connection. I am thinking it is possibly either a case of a poor install that is somehow eating your signal at the reciever or more likely that you are flying in an area with some seriously heavy noise on the 2.4 ghz band.
+eternalfire1244 Well thank you very much for your help, I honestly believe that I'm dealing with lots of noise, and perhaps worst with tons of really bad faith people, that would do anything to fowl my enjoyment ever since I have just move all my RC to Rmilec... That by the way I never have lost signal not even once at a really long range..
That looks like a pretty extreme system. Are you trying to push out to the limits of this system or do you tend to stay LOS? I would be very interested to hear how far you could take this system out. My first recommendation would have been to use old 72mhz gear. There is almost nothing that runs on that band right now and it tends to be a pretty quiet overall. Best of all it is very cheap to get into because there is tons of that gear that is lying around gathering dust.
+eternalfire1244 Well, what I can say.. you are most definitely correct, I actually have two full systems that run on 72 and 25 Megahertz.. but sadly this particular systems are very very susceptible to interference.. I do use the VHF because my goal is to going in to business with Video surveillance.. But I'm very grateful for your input, thank you very much!

It's so nice to see a review by someone who obviously knows what he's talking about :)
Thank you for the review. Was looking to upgrade from 72 to 2.4 and you answered all my questions.

Hi there, Just received my Frsky combo for jr. will try it out on the weekend in our glitchy environment in Pakistan :)
Good review Bruce, I have the Frsky DF combo, plus one extra receiver for my other Heli, mine did come with the Serial lead, I note some didn't get the lead? there was also a CD with manuals covering everything, also winXP/win7 update stuff.

I now have 2 and are excellent. Thanks Bruce.
Great review Bruce, Tel the guys Hello from the USA. I have a DJT module my JR 788. So far so good..

Great video. It would be very interesting to hear your verdict on the patch antenna that rangevideo sells for this.
Nice!!!
I'm going to try one. Thanks for the review
Bruce,
Can you please tell me what spectrum analyser you are using,
Alan
After a 10 year break from flying is it worth using the module in my FF9..... Don't fancy splashing out if I'm not feeling the hobby again...
Love the intro music!!

Hi bruce will you do a video for Elrs using a Oscilloscope? I don't see no video anybody using Oscilloscope with Elrs. Elrs is getting very popular.
Interesting review! Thank you!
Love it! 🙂
Hello There, nice reveiw. BTW when are you going to reveiw the FrSky two way system and thier about to be launched hack module.?
What's a good remote for FPV flying that I wont need to upgrade that costs around $100? Is a FlySky a good remote?

at FrSky web, antenas are differents, thy are bigger,
you dont use the default antenas?
did you meure if the power output is really 60mw as claimed?
I am surprised, that the frsky is 60mW only and still gives a range of more than 1 km where as I am able to get only about 300 m with the orange DSM2 2.4 Ghz module rated at 100mW! Can you please tell me why this is so?
So Bruce, which module actually won the shootout. I have a Hitec Optic 6 I want to convert. Thanks!
3 km range at which RF Output, i think this have more as 20 DbM, i am from EU and in the EU only under 20 DbM is allowed
hi joey here! i have a e-sky f m raidio an it has a 6 channel ppm, what should i use? frsky or cronna?
is it possible for that type of controller to work with an rc car?
