Its not that simple, especially in California where the costs are high to begin with, we keep housing ridiculously high to satisfy the boomers, high rents where I know people who work multiple jobs with a friend or girl friend who also have a job or 2. I have a niece who with her husband shared a 2 room apartment with another couple and this even is not the bay area. I don't like these companies but when people are in a bad spot they will pick the devil they know then the devil they don't.

Which means you track your own logistics including taxes and expenses. It makes sense if you are a freelance journalist or artist where you work a few days or weeks on a project for a company and later you get another days to weeks contract from a different company. But Uber is one company who brokers a service people and many on the end serve longer than a few weeks.

I understand the workers needing work health benefits, etc. but I also think these types of businesses, taxi services, already pay high for bonded employees, from my understanding. A local family owns a taxi service & explained the thousands monthly they pay out for drivers & car ins, & car repairs. If they have to pay a regular wage to their drivers, then their taxi fares would probably go up, because they already struggle. Idnt it is a good idea to change that industry, at this time. Their drivers did well financially, until the last few months, due to Covid-19.

There is no way we could afford the paperwork and employment insurance I would be paying today with all these people now treated as employees. The buyers of my company have shifted all this work to Nevada, and they are just one of thousands of California companies forced to send work out of state. I am so fortunate to have sold the business when I did! It is too bad that so many of California's workers have forced into unemployment.

It’s not fair when Uber and Lyft get up to 50%%% from the total ride payments. They should decrease platform fee for drivers. Let’s say if passenger paid 20$ for the trip (and most of the passengers think that most of the 20$ bill goes to driver, and they don’t leave tips thinking that 20$ is more enough for driver) drivers gets only around 10-11$ from that trip rest (9-10$) goes to Uber and Lyft. If drivers has expenses like car maintenance, gas, car depreciation and insurance (which doesn’t compensated by Uber and Lyft) Lyft and Uber doesn’t have those expenses other than maintaining online platform. Then why they should charge drivers up to 50% from the total passenger payment???? That’s not fair

Thank God prop 22 passed! Gig workers are gig workers because they don't want a "JOB". They dont want a "set schedule" or to be told what days to work, and what days they can take off. They dont want to be told when to take breaks, when to take lunch, or how long their lunch break can be. If they wanted to told these things, they would not be gig workers. Thankfully, they retain this freedom with prop 22 passing. They do not have employer paid benefits, but those can be purchased separately. The freedoms the true gig work provides FAR outweigh what would have happened if Prop 22 had failed. Freedom. Gig workers do gig work for the freedom, not the benefits, 401k, schedules, shifts, or bosses.

The basic problem is that Lyft/Uber drivers act as scabs for the taxi industry. I'm betting that cab companies have to pay their driver's a certain wage and provide benefits. The ENTIRE business model for these gig companies is to use scabs to undermine the taxi industry. The bill that Prop 22 is trying to get around essentially gave gig drivers the same protection as union workers. Uber and Lyft are trying to bust this "union".

On top they harras drivers by only finding rides in areas they don't want to go because it's to far or to dangerous. It extra find rather rides 10-12 minutes away to areas where you don't want to go then even there are customers 3-4 minutes away. For Uber it's better to do what drivers hate most then to make money and serve customers.

Joe Biden and his first wife, Neilia, had three children: Hunter, Beau and Naomi.
In 1972, Neilia and Naomi, died in a car accident. Joe eventually married a woman named Jill (his current wife).
He already knew her because she had been Hunter's babysitter at the time of the car accident. (Yeah, seems normal- marry the babysitter). They had a daughter named Ashley. Ashley lives 'a quiet life' and is frequently in and out of rehab for various substance abuse issues.
Now sadly, the sanest, most normal one of the 3 surviving kids, Beau, dies in 2015 from a brain tumor. He had been married to Haillie and they had 2 children, a boy and a girl named Natalie, who was 11 yrs old when her dad died.
Enter Hunter Biden, in 2015, to "comfort" his brother's widow. Mind you, Hunter is married at the time, to Kathleen Biden, since 1993. He starts screwing around with his dead brother's wife in 2015...his wife Kathleen finds out about it and they separate. Hunter moves in with his dead brother's wife, Haillie, and her two kids and they have a grand old time. He ultimately gets divorced from Kathleen in 2017. Meanwhile, he starts screwing around with a stripper, while still shacking up with his dead brother's wife, before his divorce is finalized, and gets the stripper pregnant. Haillie kicks him to the curb supposedly for this indiscretion in 2018. He denies the stripper's baby is his, although a paternity test proves otherwise and eventually he marries a woman named Melissa in 2019 after knowing her for 6 days.
Does the tale end there? Why no, no it doesn't. That just sets the stage... Enter the laptop from hell loaded with emails, text messages, photos, child pornography, videos, and other sordid digital images of drug use and rampant weirdness.
Hunter Biden dropped the laptop off in Delaware, his home state, to get it repaired. It seems he dropped it in some water while in a meth-induced state of mind. He then neglected to pick up the computer/pay the $85.00 repair fee and the laptop became the repair shop owner's property for non-payment. When the owner saw what was on it, he was so disturbed that he contacted the FBI. No response!!! The DOJ? No response!!!! Eventually, it landed in Rudy Giuliani's possession and he turned it over to the Delaware State Police AFTER making 4 copies of the hard drive. Turns out, there's quite a lot of child pornography on there...much of it involving children on Hunter's many trips to China. The Chinese Communist Party uses this as a blackmail tactic. They supply the young girls, they film you, unknowingly, and then they can keep you "in line", while paying you the big $$$ to do their bidding, like lucrative deals with your VP father.
Millions of dollars were paid to Hunter Biden for favors with the US Govt while Joe Biden was VP under Obama.
For 8 years Hunter made the contacts and split the money with his father, referred to as the "Big Guy" in all emails detailing how their ill gotten gains would be split up amongst all the criminals involved.
Joe Biden sold out his country and used his meth head son to do it. ...
But, IT GETS WORSE. Today, on the laptop, emails were released between Beau Biden's widow, Haillie, and Joe Biden in 2017 and more in 2018 when she and Hunter were still living together. They were casually talking about the continual "sexually inappropriate behavior" she had witnessed from Hunter toward her 14 year old daughter, Natalie, HIS NIECE!
She told Joe that she felt she had put her children in a dangerous situation by getting involved with Hunter Biden. Joe knew his son was screwing around with his niece and he advised his daughter-in-law to go to therapy. No one went to the police and the abuse escalated. THAT is the main reason she broke off her relationship with Hunter. Among the pictures of Hunter having sex with young Asian children, there were hundreds of provocative pictures of a 14 year old girl, mainly topless, and hundreds more of Hunter Biden, in sexual poses with her, HIS NIECE. She was 14 yrs old and HE WAS 48!!
BOTTOM LINE: ANY MAN WHO CAN'T TAKE CARE OF HIS OWN HOUSE, HAS NO BUSINESS BEING IN THE WHITE HOUSE. THE END.....but, is it?
Nope. Rudy says there is more to come, primarily involving Joe Biden getting rich off laundering foreign money through our country, using his son as intermediary. Biden is as dirty and crooked as they come. Hillary looks clean compared to him. Now it makes sense why Obama REFUSED to endorse him as the DNC candidate until he was the last man standing!
What a legacy they will leave behind! But the media is silent. Imagine the scandal this would be if it was Trumps family and sons..

If Uber Drivers don't want to be 1099 contractors, then don't drive for them. If you want an hourly Job, go get one. Uber was never created for people to make it a career. Its was created for part time drivers who wanted to make a supplemental income.

If Uber drivers want benefits and to be employees, then you can forget your independence and you will be forced to work like a taxi cab driver 10-12 hours a day and put alot more miles on your car.

@Brinks Truck The US government may start distributing a vaccine by the end of the year. It will go to the most vulnerable populations first including first responders. It does take weeks after the first inoculation for the vaccine to take full effect and more than one booster shot may be necessary. No one knows the duration of immunity for anyone who has recovered from COVID or from any particular vaccine. Pfizer vaccine showed 90% immunity but only for seven days. More needs to be understood. Perhaps the singular greatest problem with regard to vaccines is that too many people have been dissuaded from even getting vaccinated at all. If that is the case, it will prolong moving forward precipitously. It is possible we may be wearing masks well through 2021. Our best line of defense remains masks, social distancing, etc. By taking these basic precautions the University of Washington projects we can save over 130,000 lives by March 2021. Remember, this virus is about 8X deadlier than the 2019 flu and is the third leading cause of death in the US only behind heart disease and cancer. Please fact-check this information yourself. Just one idea - A national public service announcement program on the proper fit and use of masks, hand washing (20 seconds), social distancing, etc. Facing the truth is empowering, freeing. The sooner the more people accept reality, the sooner we can recover together as a country - grieve those we have loved and lost - and collectively address other urgent concerns.
