late 1970s I was sitting at a remote beach feeling so proud of my TOYOTA FJ40 negotiated all the soft sand when a old Holden station wagon pulled up with four surfers 🏄‍♀on board with four scaffolding planks using teamwork they drove onto two planks then placed the next two in front then repeat till the ground was good enough to drive on

Clever thinking by Maxtrax! There's definitely a market for them. Great tests! It's hard to imagine what else you could have done to them according to off-road situations. An excellent Australian-made quality product!

I would like a video on roof load and some examples. I don't do any real 4x4 in my rav4 . But i find roof loads interesting especially how it changes 9n different surfaces.
Great video, thanks for your time

This is impressive what it can handle. Thanks for the test. I’m using my mk2s for my son’s electric kids 4WD, god he loves a good recovery!

i just got a set cos they were half the price of the big ones and they fit nicely behind the back seats on my dmax so i dont have to worry about mounting them or having them slide around in the tray

After some time doing some thinking, I am going to get two pairs for my WD21. Thankfully the vehicle is fairly light to begin with and it helps with storage.

Being new makes a big difference. Exposure to heat, sun and other weather elements for long time surely will change most of these tests' results.

I'd love the lights, but my vehicles are just too heavy. Have a Land Cruiser 79 with a FiftyTen cabin with four original boards. And a Jeep Gladiator with an AluCab Canopy Camper, which currently has two Maxtrax Extreme boards. If I had to get more boards, I might add some smaller ones in a different place on the truck (both trucks have them on the roof rack, both are very top heavy, both are not used in very difficult terrain, but definitely in sand.

The Lites look okay for my Suzuki Vitara . A question , I don't leave them on top of my vehicle but you see a lot of people just leave them on their roof rack exposed to the sun , how many years do they last before they go brittle and break ?

I pick up 2 sets of knock off Maxx Trax (not branded) from my local Princess Auto (a franchise hardware/tool/farm supply store in Canada) a couple years ago. For $100 a set a few years ago. I don't use them much. But they do the job. Even used them to level my 3 ton travel trailer/caravan. Handy investment.

Just thinking, for the same price, would 4x Lites be better than 2x Mark 2's ? That's 3.6m (Lite) vs 2.3m (Mark 2) of total track length. Have options like can put one under each wheel or string together, Can easily store in vehicle instead of on roof if needed etc etc.

really hate that they adjusted the MKI -> mkII size slightly.
Had a set (didn't realise mk1 / mk2), bought a mounting solution and a extra set (MK2) had to file the MK1's to size to fit on the same mounting, and only with the MK1 on the bottom and the mk2's on top I can fit 4 boards to the designated mounting pins....

    2 x MK2's VS 4 x Lite's ? could be a thing ?
For example the FJ could hide 4 of the Lite's on board with a fridge and a swag without a roof rack and would make a very capable and efficient multi-tool.

Just what is "the next level" I keep hearing everyone parroting off each other? Is it next level up, or down? Say your in a ten-story building with a basement and you are on the fifth floor but you wanr to go to "the next level". But that level goes down instead of up? Is this a good or bad thing?

seriously Ronny, if your getting paid from maxtrax for this vid then "fair play", you need to make money. otherwise your being sucked in to a "gimmick" brought to you by maxtrax. If your going to carry recovery boards then why would you even consider the 'lite's". just carry the usual ones for all occasions-job done. It's a gimmick!

    • @craigquann
      @craigquann 9 місяців тому +6

How is it a gimmick. Ronnie is obviously going to keep and use the regular ones as he uses them frequently and probably sponsored so he gets them free or cheap. However for the average person who goes on 1-2 small adventures a year, save the money for fuel and beer as the lites will get the job done. You're talking $240 or more in savings for a set of 4. That's at least a tank of go go juice a case of wobbly pops.
