I’ve been a member all my life and THIS lesson explained things so well for me that I didn’t quite understand completely. I get more and more every time I listen. This is the 4th time lol. I would 🌟 star it if I could. It’s a keeper for me. Bless you both for your efforts and GREAT explanations and knowledge!
I feel exactly the same way. I joined the church when I was 19 and this has always been confused and actually intimidated by the Abrahamic covenant. Somehow, they broke it down in a simple way that I was able to understand. I actually now feel like I am a part of this. Such a beautiful lesson.
This episode has touched my soul and has been in my mind this past week. I’m 55, was raised Assembly of God, converted as a young adult to this church and no one, no one- has ever explained the topic of cut covenant so clearly. God bless you both and a most humble, gracious thank you. My Baptist mother cannot wait to watch your episodes on the Old Testament. Well done and blessings.
I keep watching this over and over because I am having so many aha moments and feel an outpouring of knowledge I didn’t understand before but just trusted in. Thank you for the blessing you are and all you do to share and spread the good word. My in-laws who are not members are coming over every Sunday and always ask if they can watch the next one!! I love this!!!
Oh my gosh, this was amazing!!!!! There are so many one liners in here. So much food for thought. Wow. And to end with the Lord cutting the covenant alone and the significance of that. Wow!!!! Then the name change. Reminds me of another name change in a special place. You two are amazing!!!! I love your lessons!!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart...and top...and sides....!!!!
Wow learning about the splitting animals in half story with Abraham was mind blowing! Its been on my mind for days since listening to the podcast. This opened my mind to the deep love Heavenly Father has for us. I am so grateful for this podcast and the spirt you guys bring!
I struggled with addiction for over 20 years. The whole time I stayed active in the church, which now I see as a huge blessing. The gospel has always felt right and other things have always felt wrong. That leads to so much confusion. Your lessens have been the first thing next to personal study that has helped me so much to clear up that confusion. Thank you so much for what you two do. It means everything to me. Good bless!!!
I’ve been asking myself what more I can learn from the endowment and you said something today that had an enormous impact on me and I will never see the endowment the same again. The endowment is a covenant that binds is to the Savior. As I thought about that and the comment you made about Abraham and the animals he sacrificed, I realized that the individuals for whom we offer the endowment, are in the presence of the Savior. I imagined what a beautiful and emotional experience it must be for them to know that they were now bound by covenant to Him. His suffering and sacrifice now had a new meaning to them.
Elevating grace - LOVE IT! The Lord's grace is often understood as something that simply happens and often seems definite. While in reality His grace helps us progress, take the next step, become more like He is. Thank you Emily for helping us understand this better. Such a great lesson with so many learnings! Thank you both for your constant effort!
Enjoying salvation while we wait for exaltation. A fantastic way to endure to the end. Part of the blessing of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I've been going to the temple for 20 years and this lesson has taught me more in one day than 20 years of going to the temple. You are lucky you are learning this now.
I've found the teachings in the temple remind me of the habits of Christ like giving and service habits practiced, daily at home and work, brighten my spirit, as the pure bright pearl of great worth, for my abilities to become better, through learning understanding knowledge, from my trials and tribulations; Which is quite a gift in a world that is full of dark habit ideas that can blindside and dull, turn off our spiritual light glow strength...
What.a.lesson! So far, I've watched this lesson three times and everytime I discover more and more things. For some reason, studying chapter 15 brings me to tears. The Savior's mercy is so powerful. Thank you, Emily and David, love you to death.
This episode was amazing! It was packed with so much information and testimony. I will be going back to listen again because there was so much to absorb. I can't wait to list the promises made to Abraham and Covenant Israel and see the role of Grace. the Savior has. in my story. This is a story of Christ's love for every one of us.
Put just like it was rattling in my head. I've been thinking this morning about Christ's love. To sacrifice for is so we could keep the covenant! Not only mind blowing but humbling. I love how He taught that to Abraham.
I so agree with these comments! My mind has been blown as Emily explained about the two kinds of grace, which makes so much sense, and David talked about the housing of the priesthood authority and how it continued from the family of Abraham through to the12 apostles and the Primitive Church, then restored to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was so well explained; it’s not like I haven’t heard this before, but this was on a different level and brought me greater understanding. Thank you so much, David and Emily!!
This is one of my favorite lessons of all time. And I needed it today. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and light David and Emily. You are a blessing to me.
Ripped-out papers work for me. Just wow!! So, Mom and I were supposed to discuss these chapters weeks ago. First, she got covid and now I have it. This prevented our chat for three weeks. I was sad, but NoW!!! I'm so grateful to have gotten covid to have space between the scheduled time and now. I'm prepared to teach these things to my non-member mother about the differences between her interpretation of Christianity and mine. And really, she believes the becoming part but with different verbiage. Thank you for sharing your scholarship, wisdom, and testimonies. Thank you. Thank you.
Oh my gosh, I love you guys! You have helped me so much in studying the scriptures. Thank you too for the positive attitude! Really starts off my day right! Btw I love the time line... We do it every morning.
The Book of Jasher ROCKS!!! Oh I love that story!!! So fun!! I am a stake called early morning seminary teacher and I just have to tell you how much I love the app. It has been such a blessing to me. I love the daily part of the app. I came down with a super bad case of Covid as well as our whole town. Even though I was so sick I was able to send my students your daily devotionals during those weeks and they loved them! They wrote me back to tell me how much they loved the songs, the pictures and the questions that made them think. Thank you so much for adding such depth and focus to Come Follow Me. You two are such a a blessing!!!!
There wasn’t enough room on the note page this week for all the great insights you helped open my eyes to see and ears to hear! Thank you so much!! My favorite lesson so far!
Back on 10-11-12 I was given the grace of angels bringing my grandson to earth, when I was in no way close to living a covenant relationship. However when I did come back to my Covenants that experience helped me let others know who are struggling that God loves them.
A while back I was searching for what I had to do to become a priestess and queen through exaltation. I was trying to frame all this together with the concept of grace. I knew I had to have a part in this because it wasn’t a free grace given to all by the Savior. I came to settle on the word “become”. I realized that me becoming like God was my part. This lesson has clarified this even more for me. I am so grateful for your insights you has shared in this lesson. It is becoming so much more clear. When our prophet talks of staying on the covenant path, I know better what he means. Thank you❣️
I've been going to the temple for 20 years and this lesson has taught me more in one day than 20 years of going to the temple. My wife and I love listening to your lessons. Thanks for all you do. BTW i was so star struck when i met you guys a couple of years ago on the elevator at the Utah valley hospital. I was the one that was so awkward and didn't know what to say just as the doors were closing.
I am so grateful for the energy you give to my desire every day to hear Him more clearly and try to emulate who a daughter of our Heavenly Father would be and do.
This is a great explanation of the Abrahamic Covenant. I have heard from people in Sunday School that everyone are at different levels in the church. This statement alienates people and church members. Thanks you as I live in a family who are of different religions. I have a better understanding of this covenant .
Hi this is Clara Williams EPPERSON, I am thankful for having Bible study Today. I have been Cleaning all Day Today. Help me Jehovah God 🙏 too 🙏 Pray more. Amen
You two are so enlightened teaching old Testament. This is the best you've ever given, in my opinion. I'm so much blessed by this Old Testament study. Thank you❤🌟
The story of Abram smashing his father's idols is my favorite story from the Book of Jasher. My husband reads it to the kids and he brings it to life. I really love Jasher.
Been with you guys from the beginning and always love EVERY lesson, thank you for bringing the scriptures to life for me!! Will you ever do transcripts for your episodes? It would be a wonderful addition to the notes I take in the journal!
I was always perplexed and in the dark when I read Genesis 15 about the sacrifice. Wow! You opened my eyes! I can see! Thank you for the clear, plain and precious explanation. It was beautiful just like you said it would be.
How ever did you know I wanted the ripped out papers? Oh, it's because you must know I love everything you both teach, make, and do. Because I do. Big thanks!
Thanks for the lesson. I never heard of three pm’s before. Thanks. Another example I realized recently is the Israelites going through the Red Sea on dry land was cutting a covenant with God, as well.
Thank you so much for this episode! I will be sharing the cutting the covenant with my family! We pretty much glossed over that part because we didn't understand. Now that I do understand a little more, it makes so much sense! Thank you 😊
Great lesson. This makes the Abrahamic Covenant so clear but I also will need to rewatch because there’s so much to absorb. This song came up on my playlist and reminded me of David’s comment about loving the word Amen: “All the People Said Amen” by Matt Maher. As Emily would say, “so good!”
I love your videos! I usually don't have a lot of time to study the scriptures, so this really helps me know what the scriptures are talking about and what they mean!
Remember what Captain Moroni did? What did he do with his coat? What do we do each Sunday when we "break" the bread during the sacrament? What do we do when we are baptized by immersion? What did Moses do? Didn't he part the waters? All those are a symbolism of a covenant, of The Covenant. Let me tell you something, God always keeps His promises. He always keeps His part of the deal.
That was amazing. The covenant part at the end ❤️ The beginning about becoming reminds me of a time i was studying all the verses that talk about us being children of God and stumbling on a whole group of verses that talk about us becoming children of God.
I love how the simple drawing of the temple looks like a crown as that is the purpose of the temple, isn't it? A crown for a royal destiny. And the cross is a sceptre, isn't it?
Now I have a thought about "cutting a covenant"... When the animals are cut in 2 to symbolize what will happen if the covenant is broken, I wonder if that also symbolizes the separation of our body and spirit or the separation of us from God. Both can only be repaired through covenant.
I love that your dad said, this is what it looks like to live as a husband father minister. You received a great gift having such an aware father. Wow. David you should have a class to pass that wisdom on to young men.... even older men. So many don't know what it looks like to be that kind of father husband minister. Wow
Hi this is Corey Miles 😊 pray for me and my Family and my 🐈. Bless me to listen to God 🙏 and Pray more. Bless my Job and help me too buy some Food and bless me to keep some money 💸💰. Bless me to get to work on time. Corey Miles 😊
Hi this is Clara Epperson 😍 I want to be more Faith ful listen 👂 ING to my Bible Lessons. Bless me Jehovah God to go to Church Sunday morning 🌅🌄. I feel better 😃. Clara Epperson 😍
I love that, in the “Come Follow Me” lesson manual for February 7-13, the picture has Sarah there with Abraham. We see a lot of pictures with just Abraham, but he is always alone, and he couldn’t have been so great without Sarah by his side.
Hi this is Corey Miles 😊 pray for me and my Family and my mom. I want to keep my Job and make more money 🤑💰 to. Help me to listen to God and learn to Drive a Car . I need to take my mom grocery shopping 🛒🛍️. Amen 🙏
This "cutting" they are discribing reminds me of a part of the temple ordinance that is no longer in the ceremony. If I don't keep my end of the covenant knowledge will be cut off but eventually we are cut off from his presence.
Book of Jasher chapter 11 says, "13 And in the fiftieth year of the life of Abram son of Terah, Abram came forth from the house of Noah, and went to his father's house. 14 And Abram knew the Lord, and he went in his ways and instructions, and the Lord his God was with him." Many Christian scholars believe Abraham knew Noah and Shem. If so, this is where Abram learned of the blessings of the fathers.
I'm so lost on the app. The daily showed up once and now its gone. Its too much and too confusing to navigate. I miss the take 5s :( they were so easy and It worked so well for my teens. I don't understand why we had to go through so much to set up the app? Why isn't it like any app u can just purchase and start using. Please bring back the take 5s they were so wonderful and easy to share with non members. The dailys are not....
I miss the take 5's too. I don't do the app, so I don't see the daily things. I already have so many apps on my phone, I didn't want to have to worry about another. I love the weekly lessons and I learn so much. Thank you David and Emily.
I too miss the 5's in the newsletter and wish they were back. I am not all technology in an struggle with it even though I have ad to learn to teach students online. HELP please!!!
How do you do this???? I don't extract info like you do.... I've learned more than my years in Bible class in college!! I ran out of paper, took me 4 1/2 hours to get thru... but wow!! I'm telling everybody they HAVE to get your workbook and watch your videos.... going to get your daily list and app next!! THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO!!!
Hi, I love watching your videos, and I am loving the timeline. I am using it in my seminary class this year and because of having the summer off and flex days we are covering some of the stories of the Old Testament out of order. Is there a numerical list to show what graphics go in which places so I can add them to the timeline when I teach about Ruth and Job and so many others that we will catch a little out of order?
Loved this lesson, especially about Ch. 15. I couldn't quite catch the name of the man you referred to towards the end of that discussion. I search for Alfred Adderton because that's what I thought you said, but I can't find anything written by him that would further my study of the cutting of the covenant. Could you put his name in writing somewhere so I don't have to depend on my aged hearing? I loved learning about that practice in old testament times and would like to learn more. Thank-you so much.
I know you have mentioned this before, but can you recommend a good study bible? Which version is best? NIV? NKJV? I want to get one but I have no idea where to start.
Abraham Lincoln was a Father of a nation too- and instrumental in turning them from idolatry back to God. Didn't last very long, but I know God chose him to represent the smallest unit of American currency- a father, the family.
I am confused why Hagar or Ishmael were not able to get the sealing blessings or fullness of the gospel. The "covenant" seems much more elite or restrictive anciently but now we are in charge of performing that work for billions, so our lens is so different. I am curious about God's purpose around this.
Saved by Grace counters the transgression of Adam and Eve. Saved from hell is belief in Jesus Christ. Status (Reward) in Heaven depends on Merit. Grace and Merit (works), both are required for Exaltation.
Where do we find the weekly covenants of Isreal….from each lesson for the journal? I thought you told us once but can’t remember? Blog? App? Newsletter?
I tried to print the timeline download but It only prints the top left corner. How do I get the rest of it to print so I can have the whole timeline in the right scale?
Hello EBF & DB, Can you please tell me what the resource is you mentioned somewhere that I can’t find now, an app or book or something that helps us with understanding Hebrew translations? Help please! It was two words as I recall, and maybe one of them started with ‘S’.
I have equally been searching for the resource. If I remember correctly the author is Alfred - and this is where I butch it - Adderstein (?). I cannot find this gentleman which may be a terrific clue that I am not spelling his name correctly.

Amazing!!! Introduction of grace, the animals in half, I am crying for learning this, thank you guys!
Thank you so much for this lesson! Helped so much with understanding the Abrahamic covenant. I look forward to studying these chapters.
😀As a young women these videos really help me understand the wonderful words of god and his desipels👍

Beautiful lesson! Thanks so much for these videos.
Thank you for enriching my study each week! This lesson taught me so much I would have missed.
Loved this. It took me 4 days to listen to this as I wanted to digest as much as I could. Thank you!

This was so helpful!! Thank you for also spending time on the journal entries.
Thank you for gifts of your study, prayer, faithfulness, and testimony! This lesson will stick with me like your Book of Mormon wilderness lesson.
Thank you both for the way you worded your understanding of grace 💖💞 It really spoke to my heart!
This is a great explanation of the Abrahamic Covenant. I have heard from people in Sunday School that everyone are at different levels in the church. This statement alienates people and church members. Thanks you as I live in a family who are of different religions. I have a better understanding of this covenant .
Somehow each new video is my favorite! These studies are the definition of getting better each time 💛 thank you!
thank you SO very much for this weeks lesson...wow....thank you
Seriously SO GOOD! I’m LOVING The Old Testament! Thank you for your insights and testimony each week. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi this is Clara Williams EPPERSON, I am thankful for having Bible study Today. I have been Cleaning all Day Today. Help me Jehovah God 🙏 too 🙏 Pray more. Amen
Let's go after that family! Rescue that one family....that one soul.
I have learnt so much. Thank you
You two are so enlightened teaching old Testament. This is the best you've ever given, in my opinion. I'm so much blessed by this Old Testament study. Thank you❤🌟
Thank you awesome so much to learn and making it so inviting to learn and you both are so passionate in your love for the gospel
This was an exceptional lesson! I loved all of it and especially loved the explanation of the animals and "cutting the covenant" and what that meant.
The story of Abram smashing his father's idols is my favorite story from the Book of Jasher. My husband reads it to the kids and he brings it to life. I really love Jasher.
Which lesson was the story of the Book of Jasher in? I'm trying to find the time-stamp.
@@kathyprisbrey6727 start at time stamp: 7:45 in this video.
Been with you guys from the beginning and always love EVERY lesson, thank you for bringing the scriptures to life for me!!
Will you ever do transcripts for your episodes? It would be a wonderful addition to the notes I take in the journal!
I too have been here from the beginning and , to coin a phrase, this part "I just love❤️!!!" Each week!
Big thanks!
Love, love, love this lesson so much. Thank you!! ~ Eleni
I guess that you two are fun & awesome parents, as well as teachers.😁💛
That was amazing. The covenant part at the end ❤️
The beginning about becoming reminds me of a time i was studying all the verses that talk about us being children of God and stumbling on a whole group of verses that talk about us becoming children of God.
I love how the simple drawing of the temple looks like a crown as that is the purpose of the temple, isn't it? A crown for a royal destiny. And the cross is a sceptre, isn't it?
What he said about his dad preparing him for marriage was a lesson in itself. ❤
Wow
AMAZING LESSO!!!!! Learned so much that I dint know and or understand! Thank you
So good. Thank you very much 😍👏
That was a lot of info BUT super fun. Thank you!
Hi this is Felicia Miles pray for me and my Family. Bless me with my Apartment I am Stressed out help me Jesus Christ superstar. Amen 😍🙏
Could we just study this lesson for a few more weeks!! SOO GOOD
Another example of cutting a covenant can be read in Alma 46:19-21.
We see a lot of pictures with just Abraham, but he is always alone, and he couldn’t have been so great without Sarah by his side.
thank you so much
Hi this is Corey Miles 😊 pray for me and my Family and my mom. I want to keep my Job and make more money 🤑💰 to. Help me to listen to God and learn to Drive a Car . I need to take my mom grocery shopping 🛒🛍️. Amen 🙏
Dito Marlene Bowers. But she probably isn't 79 years old and served 2 missions. Thank you!
This "cutting" they are discribing reminds me of a part of the temple ordinance that is no longer in the ceremony. If I don't keep my end of the covenant knowledge will be cut off but eventually we are cut off from his presence.
Ahhh! Now it makes more sense!
Book of Jasher chapter 11 says,
"13 And in the fiftieth year of the life of Abram son of Terah, Abram came forth from the house of Noah, and went to his father's house.
14 And Abram knew the Lord, and he went in his ways and instructions, and the Lord his God was with him."
Many Christian scholars believe Abraham knew Noah and Shem. If so, this is where Abram learned of the blessings of the fathers.
David mentioned sharing the link to an article about cutting a covenant on the blog, but I don’t see it. 😬
I like your definitions of grace but I can’t find it on google. Where did you get the information?
Hi Cheya, the man Emily mentioned is Alfred Edersheim (she pronounced it Aiders-hime)
I know you have mentioned this before, but can you recommend a good study bible? Which version is best? NIV? NKJV? I want to get one but I have no idea where to start.
NSRV is a good choice
please, what was the quote you used in the red book Emily? I loved that
Abraham Lincoln was a Father of a nation too- and instrumental in turning them from idolatry back to God. Didn't last very long, but I know God chose him to represent the smallest unit of American currency- a father, the family.
Where can we find the quote by Alfred Edersheim? It isn't on the blog and not in the journal.
Where do I go to find the list of the blessings in our Abrahamic Covenant?
Emily I know this has nothing to do with the Old Testament but, your hair is so cute!
I just downloaded the app but don't know how to get it to work.
What are we supposed to write in the journal on the left side of the page...next to all those scriptures?
Blog? App? Newsletter?
Newsletter
Hi Can't figure out how to get the time line and stickers. I've tried and tried and tried the address mentioned ....
I tried to print the timeline download but It only prints the top left corner. How do I get the rest of it to print so I can have the whole timeline in the right scale?
I believe it is 2x3 so it would need to be taken to a printer. I downloaded my to a flash drive to have them print it.
I got the answer... It’s Strong’s Concordance. I got the “New Exhaustive” edition. Hope that helps.
@@nancyv3498 Thank you so much
@@allanhess1578 it’s Alfred Edersheim
How could I download the timeline to make it larger?
I think that is in the newsletter you subscribe to
What is the reference book you use?
By Alfred Edersheim...
Bible History: The Old Testament by Edersheim.
What is the name of the book at the end of this video? Alfred Edersheim's book
