I can't wait to use my people dies with polymer clay to make Bookmarks. I hope you do more videos with this method, using different cutting dies with PC for card making bookmarks cake toppers etc
Very creative ideas! I love the idea of using the die cutting machine. I just got the exact die set for earrings, it's arriving today. 😮 I ordered leather but now I am definitely going to get out my clay. You definitely have my head spinning with ideas! 💡 Thank you.
I was wondering whether one could use a die cutter and you've proved it possible. Thank you. Secondly the scraps from this project could be made into a collage!❤
a very useful video for me! I have just gotten into paper crafts after toying with polymer for a few years. I been thinking on how I can combined the two hobbies.......and you have just shown me that the dies i am now starting to collect have an additional use! Not sure I would have thought of this without seeing your video. Thanks so much!
I just bake on a tile, I had some left over from my bathroom. As long as its a smooth one and not porous it will be fine. you can also use a non stick shallow baking tray. I follow the mnanufaturers baking instructions. Usually 100c for around 40 minutes does the trick for me. Id keep an eye on your 1st few batches just to make sure your oven doesnt have any hot spots that could cause the clay to burn. 😃
Very interesting process using the die cutter. I’ve never even seen one of those and it was quite interesting to understand. I do however routinely use something called “Frog” or “Painter’s” tape to set up the same scenario for all my clay jewelry resin. The painters tape is not nearly so sticky and your pieces easily lift. If any resin drips off the side, I can easily cut or pop it off with an Exacto knife. Enjoyed your video very much!
Good morning from snowy Reno, Nevada, USA. I must say first that this is being commented on February 21, 2023. 1st. How did you modify your pasta machine? 2nd. I really like all of the designs that you made and I found it fun to do all of those skinner blends, only my colors were in autumn colors.
Hi there Michael, it's lovely to hear from you. It makes me happy that you are enjoying my tutorials and more so that you have put them to good use and have made your own pieces. My pasta machine is from a US lady called Mona Kissel. She and her husband work together to modify the pasta machine before they send it out. Its not a cheap modification but well worth it in the long run. As you probably know, its very difficult to stop the clay building up behind the blades and being able to remove them for cleaning is an absolute game changer! Here is the link to the website where you can purchase one. www.monakissel.com/ As far as I know Mona is the only seller of these modified machines. Good luck with your clay journey and thank you for watching. Best wishes, Sarah
What an amazing concept Sarah! I love it! I have some wonderful die cutters for PolymerClay journals, trays and other things I make. Your tutorials are so helpful. Even though I am financially restricted at the moment, I will certainly look at your store and purchase some of your amazing products! If not, a coffee is coming. Thank you so much for friending me on Facebook! I tried to leave comments on your page, failed and was embarrassed to ask for assistance. It’s taken me a very long time to figure it out on my own 😂! Thank you again for this wonderful tutorial. Keep safe and well 🤗❤️
You could use the scraps to mosaic the sides of flower pots all round or create a mosaic shape like a flower onto a flower pot or a chalk painted vase etc?
So I’m not sure if I missed you saying this but is your pasta maker modified in some way to get the thinness that you want or is that standard? And are you using just a regular pasta maker? Any suggestions for someone that wants to try this but does have a piece of furniture to hook and look the pasta maker on? Would a rolling pin work or is there a workaround? Thanks for the great video!!
Yes I have a 'monafied' pasta machine. Its a regular Atlas 180 but it has been modified so that I can remove the blades and clean the clay away that gets trapped. You can work with polymer clay with just a rolling pin, but its so much quicker with a pasta machine, especially if you want to create skinner blends. There are cheap pasta machines on the market. My first one was just a cheap one. But if its something that you are going to get into and will be using alot, its worthwhile getting a decent one in the 1st place. 😁👍
I've seen the cutters for the earrings, but never the wafer dies in the earrings. I've used shaped punches on raw clay (like flowers and leaves) but I LOVE the idea of die cutting the cured sheets of polymer. No chance of it to distort and warp. Definitely gonna have to check out those earring dies. Thanks for sharing!
It really depends on your die cutter. I experimented with my own until I found the right thickness, which was a setting 6. Maybe a better branded machine would cut deeper. Hope this helps 😁
Yes, it needs to be a very thin sheet about the thickness of card stock. If you don't bake, the clay with just get squashed into your dies and make a mess 😁
This looks like so much fun, going to have to check the thrift shops for some, I got the press roller thing at a thrift shop, but it don’t have the plates, 😢 so been keeping my eyes open for them. With these crazy prices anymore my pay only goes so far, been wanting to get more of your cutters and presses by but I’m broke 2 weeks before payday again. 😢 I know and can here your struggling as well. Oh how I wish I could help. Tfs hugs these are so fun looking to do. Also have you heard anything from Kathryn??? I’ve missed her also.
Last question 😂😂😂. What resin do you recommend for a beginner? I see people on YT wearing gas masks when using it so is that a requirement? Does it serve the same purpose as a sealant? Thanks
Yes its baked sheets of polymer clay. I ususally use whats left over from canes or other projects and store the baked sheets for use at a later date. 😁
Hiya Sue, when you say cutter are you meaning the die cutting machine? If so then its a mini one made by So-Crafy. I got it a few years ago from Aldi. I'm not sure if it's still available. I've just had a look on Amazon and Gemini have on thats very similar. Here's the link www.amazon.co.uk/Crafters-Companion-Gemini-Mini-Scrapbooking/dp/B07YB8XV3Z/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?adgrpid=112455627557&gclid=Cj0KCQjw1bqZBhDXARIsANTjCPJSt-OaMX24TkAmPtXoGMFe9giMYqTFMchuJmBPrjbkl4fvih2KaFUaAlSxEALw_wcB&hvadid=593650979490&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9046500&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1621272468760406732&hvtargid=kwd-359507148695&hydadcr=2073_2227204&keywords=so+crafty+die+cutting+machine&qid=1664014593&sr=8-4 Hope that helps 😁
Really enjoyed this. You could cut the scraps really small and put them into resin molds like cooking "sprinkles."
I have always wanted to use die cuts to do jewelry. This is an awesome way to start. Thanks for sharing Sara. Lovely earrings.

Haha you're welcome Holly, thank you for watching 😉
That’s a lot of work😮 that’s a small lightweight die cutting gadget!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!😊

I love ❤️ your channel, color choices, honesty and positivity. You add a lot to polymer clay crafting!
Thank you 😊
Thank you Bethany, I really do appreciate your kind words. It's so nice getting feedback like this.... again, I thank you! 😁
Also what is your procedure for baking? Do you use parchment paper? Any tips for making sure the paper does not catch on fire in oven?

You can chop up the leftover bits and use them as tiles maybe?

What a great idea 😍
Contact paper works the best, and you can make it whatever sizes you want
The die with the holes you can cut out and put another layer underneath in a different colour and rebake.
Ooo that's a good idea! I'll have a go, that would look fab! Thank you! 😁
Excellent ❤ I’m impressed using a recent buy on paper earrings of a strong grip mat.. it’s around £15 on A 🙏🏽
What's the thickest setting that can be cut by your die cutter? Thanks so much!!❤
It really depends on your die cutter. I experimented with my own until I found the right thickness, which was a setting 6. Maybe a better branded machine would cut deeper. Hope this helps 😁
@@happyhands-uk thank you, it does.
Are the canes baked before going into dye machine??
Yes, it needs to be a very thin sheet about the thickness of card stock. If you don't bake, the clay with just get squashed into your dies and make a mess 😁
