    What a pesky peppercorn. I know that you said that you don't want your videos to be repetitive but I think even if you're sitting in your apartment they all feel different. Your videos have a cosy, warm feeling and that's why I like them and keep coming back. So, from a fellow perfectionist - don't overthink it. You're doing wonderfully... even if the lake has been drained :D

    • @XANTHE

      also in reply to your q - I don't mind that the quality for your Mt Takao video. I think what you're filming is more important than the camera you're using :)

    I'll never call it a grilled-cheese again xD
    Anyway, I like what Steve Jobs said about perfectionism (as he was very much a perfectionist.) Before he allowed his orignal Macintosh to be shipped, he had the whole inside of the circuit-board made beautiful because he couldn't stand a component of his system to be ugly. Eventually, though, he realized he couldn't always do that; he realized "Real artist ship."

      Yay! I'm glad to hear I've converted you hahaha 😊
      Yeah, I've heard a lot of stories about Steve Jobs's perfectionism. But, no, it's not efficient at all. You can't really be a complete perfectionist if you want to get stuff done ~

    It's okay about the quality,as long as it's filmed by you,we knew it's gonna be great always (I hope I'm not putting a lot of pressure lol) .I've always enjoyed your videos so much.Also I was in japan as an exchange student for a year long back in 2016,small things like your bread package and everything made me so nostalgic 💕✨

    On the "toasties vs grilled cheese" thing - I moved to Queensland at about 6yo, after living in Adelaide all my life up to that point. Had a minor breakdown when I was told to bring my "togs" to school for swimming and I DIDN'T HAVE TOGS, I only had bathers....

    I found you via & LENA's channel rec and I love how chill this is! And "toasties" is totally a cute word! LOL that peppercorn, I probably wouldn't have noticed except that you pointed it out. This discussion about perfectionism is so relatable -- recently I read a blog post about the habits of successful people and the one I took away was being consistent over being perfect. I bet you have other videos with explanation about how long you've been Japan and why you're there etc etc but I can't help but want to ask here anyways hahah.

    thank you sharing! this video is really cool:) Please do not overthink your creativity. The authenticity is much more important than the perfection at least for me and i am sure i am not the only one who is thinking like this. By the way, II never would have noticed the peppercorn if you hadn't said it.

    If your going to use your iPhone you should record videos using the app named FiLMiC Pro. The app allows you to record at a higher bit rate and frame rate. You should also get a good mic that can be attached to the iPhone charging port and a selfie camera stick which won't block the rear camera and microphone also you will need a powerbank for the phone like 10,000 mAh.

    Thanks for being honest with us but seriously did not notice the peppercorn until you pointed it out. Totally get you though, we are ourselves hardest critic.
    I am fine with minor flaws here and there, it makes us human.
    Also, phone video quality is fine.

    Such a lovely video! I didn't even see the peppercorn in the first place, so don't worry about it :* It just makes you human, doesn't it? However, I totally agree on the "perfectionism" talk, because I'm completely the SAME. My perfectionism often stops me from creating- you can't imagine how often I wanted to start a blog or write a book and threw everything away after a week or so... O_o
    I'm looking forward to all of your videos, I don't think they're repetitive or something- I also enjoy listening to your experiences in your more "chatty" videos.
    Oh and I also wanted to ask you how you learned to take such pretty photos and videos? Do you have any tips for resources or something? Thx

    • @christy-anne-jones
      @christy-anne-jones  6 років тому

      I knooow, me too. I have the worst problem with starting things and dropping them because I can't do things the way I want.
      Ah, thank you! 😊 Honestly, it helps to have a nice camera lens. A 50mm makes everything look prettier. I'm not in anyway an expert so there's no real tips I can give but I've been taking/editing photos and videos for a long, long time so I think that helps

    Vlogging with phone should be ok. I'll probably do the same if I ever start vlogs.
    Just get a selfie stick or other smaller handle/stand for it for extra stabilization and reach. And also there is microphones made especially for phones, where you just plug them to your headphone spot and point it to same direction as your camera. I was just looking at one and thinking about getting one myself, so I don't really have experience on using it but it was pretty cheap and seems handy. The one I was looking at is called "Rode VideoMic Me" , if you are interested and wanna google it.

    Didn't even notice it until you pointed it out 😂 Which is so true in life in general, we spend so much time worrying about details no one else even notices 😂😂
    Anyhow completely agree on the need for perfection, I don't do anything until it'is perfect (and perfection is always unattainable so basically I self sabotage and do nothing 😂), but in my personal experience I did notice that it's a trait my female friends share, but not the guys!
    Love your content :) I'm so glad I found your channel 😄😄

    • @christy-anne-jones
      @christy-anne-jones  6 років тому

      Hahaha it's always the way, isn't it? I probably just need to worry less about little details. But, yeah, perfection is completely unobtainable--yet we spend so much time trying to get there! And thank you so much! I'm glad you found it too 😊💛

    I love what you say about perfectionism and being productive, it really can stop you. And if you vlog, I think you don't really need to go to great special places, you can film some things on your neighborhood, local stores... I think most of us don`t know nothing or just a little about living in Japan, so any place will work as long as you are there :) And I would really like to know how is the normal life there.

    • @christy-anne-jones

    1.) Your voice is so soothing, I could literally watch an hour long video of you just talking.
    2.) I usually watch UA-cam in 240p because bad internet, so lower quality videos doesn't impact me at all.
    3.) When I was growing up, my mum made toasties all the time expect she would put pineapple in them haha.

      And pineapple?? That's so interesting. I've never thought of putting pineapple in toasties. I always used to put tomato in them, though, which is not too different haha

      Omg the plans going wrong things sounds so annoying haha. Reminds me of when my boyfriend and I went to Kyoto for the first time last year, and both Kiyomizudera and Chionin Temples we’re both covered in scaffolding and hoarding 🙈

      What’s the name of the second place you went to? (The one with the drained lake lol) I’m gonna put it on my list of places to visit next time I’m in japan
      Sorry for all the comments lol

    • @christy-anne-jones
      @christy-anne-jones  6 років тому

      No, no, no--Please don't apologise. The second place was called Kichijoji and the park was Inokashira Park 😊 It's right next to the Ghibli Museum, if that helps. And nooo that's so annoying! Kiyomizudera is such a beautiful temple, too. What's a shame. It had some scaffolding when we went two years ago but it wasn't too bad then ~

    Hi Christy! Love your cosy videos for little snippets of Japan :) Watching you make toasties (definitely a UK thing too) made me want to recommend the toasties my husband and I are making a lot at the moment which we call "egg in a window toasties" - although apparently according to this recipe that's not what they're called at all O_o hehe: www.foodnetwork.co.uk/recipes/egg-in-a-hole-cheese-toastie.html Anyway, they're super yummy and eggs are cheaper than cheese in Japan so maybe an alternative if you ever fancied it. Good luck with the rest of your vlogging adventures! Would love to see you at a pop up cafe (The Very Hungry Caterpillar one has just opened in Ginza!) or just having a wander around a cute neighbourhood like Jiyugaoka xD
