- Phil flying a DK "beat" - the lightest PPG at the time. Made in Japan. 45lbs. The video was shot in the mid 90's on Long Island, New York.
Boxer engine - 27" propellor. I changed the prop twice and logged about 400 hours between the two. This tiny nano power plant never let me down. Too bad the company folded. They were ahead of their time when the average Paramotor weighed about 60lbs dry and up to over 80lbs. It was great for thermaling. Side canes, had not yet been invented. Most PPG were using "J-Bars" over the shoulders or high harness attachment points to compensate for the engine weight.
Right from the parking lot.
This is what freedom looks like.
I will soon post another video of that day in 1995😀
@@philsgreenice wow, you've got more of that jam. Can't wait.
@@yourmeister It will be from the same footage but with explanations to a degree.
Phil , I hope you are still flying ! Gotta love where it all started !
Hi Bill,
Yes, still doing the same stuff, teaching people how to fly. I still fly for myself whenever I can.
Best
Phil
Phil, Very cool! Great design too. You land like a butterfly with sore feet.😉
Holy christ, that thing's TINY! But it looks like it performs somewhat decently! Amazing to look back at the early days of PPG! Thanks :)
hi phil! when i started flying, it was with a dk whisper beat (with reduction). even toted it round on a ....CRX! car has been gone bout ten years now. still have the paramotor though!
think i may have even talked to you about parts a few trs ago too!
I was the first guy to fly a DK in the US. after I invited them to come here from Tokyo. I opted for the DK "beat" model and put over 400 hours on it. This thing was indestructible. I flew the "Whisper" quit a few times. Then the company closed the PPG branch. They were ahead of their time. Phil ua-cam.com/video/t2gjlLv53fs/v-deo.html
I still think that a small frame is the way to go, i recently switched from a 52" frame to 36" old DK frame with mz-100 engine and really like the result.
great motor set up , i consider it much safer than modern units due to its smaller size ..
Greetings from Crete !
when he took it out from the car at the begining i thought that its some kind of ppg for a child
it's hard to see but it is a 2 cylindre. nice engine not standard for PPG and looks direct drive high rev.to compensate for the small propeller.
Those were the days :)
can we compare this to the DLE 170 being used by the thai's
How big power engine this plane?
Awseome video, and your suit is the bomb. One question would it be pretty hard to film from one of these due to the steering and throttle? unless using a chest, foot, helmet cam or something like that?
Legal paramoror ideal para conduzir gaiola pequena
I want one. How much and how soon can I get it?
I was from Japan in the mid 90's. Does not exist anymore. The company closed its production.

Hi.Thanks for video. very small and interesting motor !!What's the type and hp of first motor shown here?
Can I find the same thing in Canada, (Montreal)?
Do you prefer Electric PPG or Gas one?
I was referring to this video.
That was a DK "beat" from Japan. The company no longer exists. It was a fantastic machine at the time and flew it over 200 hours before I sold it.
It seems similar to the DLE 170
