  • Phil flying a DK "beat" - the lightest PPG at the time. Made in Japan. 45lbs. The video was shot in the mid 90's on Long Island, New York.
Boxer engine - 27" propellor. I changed the prop twice and logged about 400 hours between the two. This tiny nano power plant never let me down. Too bad the company folded. They were ahead of their time when the average Paramotor weighed about 60lbs dry and up to over 80lbs. It was great for thermaling. Side canes, had not yet been invented. Most PPG were using "J-Bars" over the shoulders or high harness attachment points to compensate for the engine weight.

      Hi Bill,
Yes, still doing the same stuff, teaching people how to fly. I still fly for myself whenever I can.
      Best

Holy christ, that thing's TINY! But it looks like it performs somewhat decently! Amazing to look back at the early days of PPG! Thanks :)

I was the first guy to fly a DK in the US. after I invited them to come here from Tokyo. I opted for the DK "beat" model and put over 400 hours on it. This thing was indestructible. I flew the "Whisper" quit a few times. Then the company closed the PPG branch. They were ahead of their time. Phil ua-cam.com/video/t2gjlLv53fs/v-deo.html

I still think that a small frame is the way to go, i recently switched from a 52" frame to 36" old DK frame with mz-100 engine and really like the result.

it's hard to see but it is a 2 cylindre. nice engine not standard for PPG and looks direct drive high rev.to compensate for the small propeller.
    Those were the days :)

Awseome video, and your suit is the bomb. One question would it be pretty hard to film from one of these due to the steering and throttle? unless using a chest, foot, helmet cam or something like that?

That was a DK "beat" from Japan. The company no longer exists. It was a fantastic machine at the time and flew it over 200 hours before I sold it.
