Now, this is great BabyMetal content. From the perspective of people who actually in the Metal industry. Music should bring people together. Gatekeeping should never be an excuse to hate.
BABYMETAL performed with Rob Halford on a couple Judas Priest songs. And there is a great video of Su-metal jumping around on stage with Flea while Moa and Yui are on the side stages dancing during one song at a Red Hot Chili Pepper's concert. Then there is the famous video of Chad Smith drumming for a BABYMETAL song with a surprise ending.
BABYMETAL will “blow your mind” true since 2010. Thank you for this. Very interesting. BTW Rob Halford called them the “future of metal” in( I think) 2016
That was a fun interview, thanks a lot for sharing this Joel, it's been a while since we heard from someone who was actually there with them along with such a legendary band like Korn, you can also find an interview with them talking about Download Festival 2016, I'm not gonna give any more hints so enjoy it. See you next time and keep rocking with BM songs 🦊🤘🔥 (R.I.P. kokami 🙌)
Joel, you just endeared yourself to the ONE. 🤘🤘🦊🦊👍👍 Froggy's description of the girls was great - three tiny Japanese girls you could put in your pocket! 😊 Even more was reinforcing what we all believe, it the girls persona, as sweet, polite, professional and the future of metal. ありがとうございました。
Very cool interview. The first BabyMetal song I reacted to was Road of Resistance. It got blocked but I later posted it with a watermark. I actually thought I was going to have to nicely say "Thanks but no thanks". Since they had the word "Metal" in their name I was seriously thinking I was going to hear some very poppy metal with little girls singing and dancing. Well I got the little girls singing and dancing but holy s**t, I was not expecting the music I heard. Especially when the fast part of that song kicked in and that mosh pit from hell started. I was literally blown away and wasn't even sure what I was watching or how to even react. I was literally dumbfounded. It might not show that much in my reaction video but there was all kinds of thoughts running through my head as I watched that video. Been a huge fan ever since.
That was great, thanks for getting your friend Froggy to give us some insight on behind the scenes on tour with BABYMETAL and Korn. I've seen video of when the guys from Korn got made up and jumped on stage with them - you could see everybody was just having a blast.🤘 RIP Mikio Fujioka the Little God, such a sad loss.
Nice talk and thank you for sharing this one. I love to hear the perspective from someone who actually worked with them (and also had no clue what BABYMETAL was before that). RIP Mikio Fujioka.
⚡ 💀 💕 A big thanks to Froggy for sharing those stories, and to you for bringing him in. I was happy just to see you sincerely appreciate BABYMETAL, but you really brought it up a level. I caught the Chula Vista, CA show on that 2017 tour. That was on Yui's 18th birthday. A bunch of folks in the front pit area surprised her by putting on party hats. Su let everyone in the crowd know why it was "a very special day" during the 'Karate' interlude, and Yui was adorably embarrassed to be the main focus of attention.
That bit was so adorable when she put her hand to her mouth and sort of bent forward looked back and brought her knee up . Hard to discribe it but i loved it ❤️
There are many Babymetal reaction videos on UA-cam, but it's a rare thing when you actually get original content like this. Always nice to get a peek behind the curtain. Thanks for going the extra mile! And don't stop doing your reactions, dude. There are so many great Babymetal songs yet to hear. You haven't even gotten to most of my favorites :-)
You have to see Babymetal in Japan! There is nothing like it on earth. It’s a heavy metal entertainment show with unbelievable crowds! It will be an unforgettable experience for you!🤘
This is great content. Babymetal just seem like the nicest folk on the planet, good to hear that is the case. I saw Babymetal with Korn and Stone Sour on this two, at the Pain in the Grass festival and the final stop in Idaho. Great times. Both shows, I wore a Babymetal shirt and was pretty much ignored, after the set people were coming up and asking questions, they never stopped. It was interesting, you see other bands open up before, and then when Babymetal hit the stage, the stage presence and energy went up a couple notches, and of course maintained with Stone Sour and Korn. It was palpable, you could feel them on stage. How do three such young and inexperienced performers learn such stage presence? You can thank Froggy for me for the wonderful shows I saw. And sadly, I feel honored to see the last performances by Mikio and Yui in North America.
This is awesome.... I think you are the first to bring a behind the stage experience of Babymetal to a reaction vid. Bravo!!!! I get what he says about music bringing people together. When I watch the Forum concert video (cost me a pretty penny), and you look at the crowd.... It is so diverse... You have grey bearded metal heads, spikey haired punk kids, you've got someone's kid sister who was probably just singing Baby Shark... Everyone is at the Babymetal concert, smiling and having fun. In a series of vids called the Babymetal Chronicles (you might want to check in on that), where Su and Moa talked about their concert experiences, Su talked about her performing overseas the first time, and how she saw people getting into the music like a wave from the front of the crowd and slowly going to the back, and everyone was getting into it even thought they don't know Japanese. 🤘🦊🤘
Late to your video, but thank you from the bottom of my heart. Babymetal is my favorite band and the behind the scenes content is my favorite type of reaction videos. Great job!
WOW! It's cool knowing that Korn REALLY surprised them. I always assumed when Korn joined them on stage that the girls already knew about it in advance and the guys just called it a "surprise" for the camera, because the girls didn't flinch or miss a step when they came on! Also at the end of the clip, you can see Moa running to Head and giving him a high-5 and he leans in for a hug....that tells you a lot, especially how respectful and kind both bands must have been to each other.
Great video, Love hear stories from the people who were there One question I was wondering at the time of the Korn tour announcement Did Corey Taylor have anything to do with BabyMetal being on that tour? Corey has been a big supporter of BabyMetal and even put them in one of his videos Did he make the suggestion or did the guys from Korn already know BabyMetal
I've watched and loved all of your BabyMetal reactions, you bring such great insight to this. Thank you! And thanks for bringing Froggy on here. Really cool to listen to his stories. If you're ok with a suggestion for your next reaction... the song Kagerou (with Kami Band intro) is one of my favorites to date and gives a great feel for how much the music and the performers have changed and matured through the years. It also features the Kami Band of the West, including the great Anthony Barone on drums. They toured with BabyMetal in 2019 and 2020. The link here is a compilation of two live performances in Japan and Los Angeles during those years. ua-cam.com/video/Hg3QsPI3x1M/v-deo.html
This video is such a treasure to us BM fans you have no idea. They're very secretive and we don't have many insights from backstage. If Froggy has more of these backstage footage/picture let him know we would really love to see those :). Thanks for this.
Froggy the analogy with Toyota was perfect! Taking an American product (metal) twisting it, molding it, throwing in some surprises and ultimately making it better! What do you get but BABYMETAL. Kei Kobayashi is a genius!
Oh my Fox God! That was awesome! Thank you and thank you to Froggy as well! Amazing content. It is always fun to hear real life stories from the folks who were there. Keep up the great content!
That was a cool story from the road tours. Media get bashed a lot for all the things it messes up. But then we get your videos. And things like this story that make it worth it. Music is made to bring people together. If you play it, they will come. You have a chance to go see them live in Japan come January. Babymetal is doing two shows there that month. To be at the first two shows they're doing since taking a break would be life altering. The lines from a Van Halen song always reminds me of Babymetal now. "So good that the roof fell in. And now everybody wants to go". I know we want to. Babymetal is back and it's exciting to see so many folks talking about them in a good way.
Thankyou for organising Froggy to come on the podcast, and thankyou Froggy for sharing, I don't know if you appreciate how much it means to the fandom to get something like this, it is so rare to hear stuff like this about Babymetal from people who were there and actually interacted with them.
You talk about their stage craft. You should check out a few songs from some of their iconic shows. Live @ Tokyo Dome, Legend S are the two that blow most minds. An easy way to find vids for those shows would be to go to " Babymetal Reactors Resource" channel. And under the vid titled " Future Plans" he has a spreadsheet with links to all sorts of vids. Some fan faves would be " In The Name of" (Legend S), " Catch Me if You Can" (Tokyo Dome), For ultimate crowd control "Headbanger" (Legend Metal Galaxy 2020). Just to name a few.
Thanks for sharing as a guy who loved Korn many years ago and who is a big Babymetal fan, its fun to hear these first hand stories. For as much as I love Babymetal, I do with we could get some more BTS type info and media and stories like this from the band officially.
Thanks so much for the great interview! Back then BABYMETAL was fun and miraculously happy moments always came and made us smile. That is a treasure to cherish. Mr. Frog backed it up in the interview. And all the while with a smile on his face! I have nothing but gratitude.
