@@uppermid-westoutdoors2842 It's an old saying from the 70s. There are subtle variations in most turkey sounds. If you listen to low volume hen purrs they are often followed by soft putts and clucks. They are contact calls not danger calls. This is what the old timers were referring to I'm assuming. When I started hunting in 73 all of these call descriptors didn't exist but all of the sounds of turkeys did. The term cutting came later in the mid 80s when turkey hunting became much more popular.

where i work i'm in a tshirt, blue jeans, and just honk the horn. if i am to hunt. i look for the topmost perched hen in the mornings, or follow them in the evenings and see where they roost. perched hens are their "lookouts" scent isn't as much as an issue as sight. and even though weary, Turkey are really kinda stupid and when toms are in season their mind is on mating and lose all other focus
I have been making turkey calls for a long time wishing I could get some to u and all of the hunter's but don't know how to do that how about a little help box calls they sound great

I got one of your coyote rabbit in distress call and it suck tbh not trying to be rude but not only does it not work iv took it on more than plenty hunts and had no luck it sounds more like a duck it’s got me really upset I purchased something that has no use I have 6 kids love your Chanel though

I have a box call and it is raw with no staining or finish at all. I was wondering if staining it would effect the performance of it. Any advice on giving it a stain finish or just leave it alone? Thanks for a reply.
You can. Just careful not to get it onto the top, just strip tape it
