If you game as a hobby/stress reliever, I’ve found keeping a gaming journal has made it so much more fun and rewarding, especially for RPGs. Recording what I did during the play session, major decisions I made, narrative questions to solve, and things I want to focus on has really made me look forward to coming back and booting up the PC again.
I keep a log for flight sims so I learn more solidly, but doing it for all games is an unexpected and wonderful idea. It seems like it would help with the issue of not being present, playing passively instead of having fun.
@@dovydasgrigas441 You hit it spot on with the feeling of being present while you play. Being in my early 30s I always struggle to focus while trying to enjoy a game and the journal definitely helped curb distractions. And it’s quite fulfilling to record 4-5 lines and discover there were some great progress to the story/character in that session.
Another type of hobbies that's really nice to have are hobbies in nature. Currently mountain biking a few times a week in a forest near me and I absolutely love it.
Awesome video man. I think one of the biggest factors in all this is discipline. Especially in situations where you can be addicted to other things like social media, and you want to read but then end up spending all that time on your phone instead. It's a struggle I myself have been working with to stop scrolling Twitter and just pick up a book more often.
I started reading about Napoleon Bonaparte’s life, next I know I have an entire list of history books to read and new hobbies… That man was one of the most underrated polymaths
I recommend martial arts as a physical hobby. Boxing if you want to develop your cardio and upper body conditioning. BJJ is also good if you want to be more casual since injuries aren't really common, but I would definitely add some running to it. I personally do MMA since I enjoy combining all of these martial arts. If you don't want to be beat up every day :) And don't like going to the gym I would recommend some sport with your friends like football every weekend. I lost around 7kg just from adding footy to my sports schedule.
Wonderful video, thank you. Also a timely reminder for me! Much appreciated. PS those dumbbells are paying for themselves, I saw the way you smashed up that garlic bulb!
Right now, I'm on school break and I've decided to fill up all the time that I have with activities like learning the violin, music theory, German, Pilates and more. It's very good for the brain and body. I think us humans have an enormous potential, but we often tend to "put that on hold" because of the instant dopamine. I'm not saying that it is easy (or optimal) to do lots of things, but I do think that everyone should pursue at least one or two things that will make us grow in some way. Life really is more than a glowing rectangle. 🙂
Your videos are always a pleasure to watch and incredibly insightful. The way you present, I feel captures the ‘magic’ of life and the passion behind pursuing hobbies.
Let's make one thing clear. I think that loving to do something and getting money out of it and doing something and only getting fulfillment for soul are 2 different things.Thank you for your videos 💚💚💚
@@odysseas__ I am Generalist and when I tell someone I like History or learning new language, they say that I should choose that as profession. That makes me mad, because I like them as hobby or interest, not as source of income or just another profession. Although I am not against someone having 2 or more professions.
A few years ago i was antisocial and didn't know where my future was headed but now i'm trying to be more social by attending church groups and also regained my passion for History which i'm planning on studying in uni for next year
It really hurts to be reminded that we can’t do everything, but it’s also important. Great video! Also, I’ve been loving your newsletter-such incredible content! 🎉
Definitely-I was more referring to a lot of the dumb Instagram ones who like to push steroids and other crap like that. Thanks too, I really appreciate it.
In my handle opinion , i believe that through some of our hobbies we should somehow try to reconnect with nature. I find this very essential for our well being. Even a walk in a local grove could make a difference especially nowadays that everything is urbanised.
Studying Dialectical Materialism with the help of Obsidian notes. It's time to learn things seriously from the source texts instead of parroting someone else's words just because I saw a video.
@odysseas__ haha.. no surprise, you look sooooo Iranian btw, I've seen like a dozen of you in my university😂 and ofcourse you're good looking like most Iranian boys 😊
I started considering reading just last year (and I know how terrible that sounds 🫣😬) I’m not a native speaker nor is English my second language. My interest in reading increased because of a feeling of loss, of the ability of producing eloquent speech, of a decent writing style, of previously accumulated vocabulary.. Reading seemed like the answer to all of it, it’s the efficient, most affordable and easiest solution. Started following a few creators, gathering tips and recommendations.. and my first pick was “1984”. It couldn’t have been more perfect (I just finished reading it yesterday) It was the best decision I’ve ever made and hopefully I can stick with it ❤

This is a rare idea…

Dancing = social, cardio, creativity (thinking of salsa for cardio)
Solid choice, definitely hits all three

True, that could be it's own category at this point. We all need more of that.

Started learning piano as a hobby, instead of doom scrolling my life away.
Love that, very cool. I'd like to start too at some point.
No joke, that's exactly what I did during COVID, now I play for the school band. Have a great day
Same, started 30 days ago
Started playing guitar a couple months ago for the same reason 🙌
But you cannot play it in bed.

Very well rounded, I like that. It has to be fun above all-in that case, discipline is never a problem.

Doomscrolling is just an addict saying, “This is the last one,” for the hundredth time.

That means a lot to hear, thank you

Very true. To have both is possible, but damn tricky to find. Thanks too, I really appreciate it.

For sure, especially nowadays where we are further and further from it. It could be its own category to be honest.
Many hobbies sounds egalitarian, id like to encourage people to pursue one art and excel in it.
Wow, you also watch Bioneer! I kinda expected that, nice video.
Thanks, and he's great. Much needed in the modern online fitness sphere.
My combo currently is rock climbing & cardiosthenics, going into biomedical engineering, playing electric guitar
All I have is one: watching UA-cam
Never thought about cooking that way, now I'm inspired to make it a creative hobby of mine 🤔

Bro are you happen to be Iranian?
I'm Greek, but I get how you think that
@odysseas__ haha.. no surprise, you look sooooo Iranian btw, I've seen like a dozen of you in my university😂 and ofcourse you're good looking like most Iranian boys 😊
Picked up basic bookbinding in the last few months. Would highly recommend as a hobby
Very cool, and not something you see every day
Martial Arts arguably fit into all four categories
I could see that, if you lead into some of the more theoretical aspects of it.
@ it’s artist like a dance, strategic like chess, physically demanding and you socialise through sparring and training with like minded people.
omg im first (dont hate me pls)
