As someone with only "less demanding hobbies" (art, reading, gaming, miniature painting, d&d) but also with adhd and possibly autism, I still find myself overwhelmed by them at times. But your point about dividing them based on your energy levels is interesting, I will take note of that.

Many great points. Having to work a fulltime job while being a fulltime student, none of the hustle culture wake-up-at-4-am advice worked. What helped was setting a timer for 35 minutes and taking a nap. It truly creates a separation between what happened before and after. I viewed it as unpacking my luggage instead of carrying my baggage with me throughout the day. Also solid editing in this video!! Thanks, and it's reassuring to hear it works for you too. I like that vision of unpacking, it's a nice way to see it. This one was edited by Shin over at Presage Media ( x.com/presagevfx ) and I agree, he did a great job.
Cant thank you enough, the advise of subdividing the hobbies/ task into relaxing and demanding ones never crossed my mind, and by far the best advice I have ever received.
In regard to the sacrifice of some hobbies and the temptation of new ones, I often wonder if social media and UA-cam is a massive contributor to this. As we are overwhelmed with content of different interests played out by people who have mastered those interests. I wonder if people historically would be the jack of less and the master of more by the lack of that flood of temptation and distraction
He did mention a point similar to this one on one of his videos. And yes I do agree that it is because of the abundance and the flood of content in social media. I noticed that when I limit my social media consumption for some periods, I find myself craving less and doing more hobbies/activities and actually enjoying them. Social media is a big big factor in this equation that I think should be controlled if one wants to pursue their interests.
Absolutely, great point. It always makes me feel jealous of other people's abilities and I want to jump to do what they do, just as well. I suppose it's innate competitiveness and also the inspiration factor of something new and exciting.
I have the same thought and I have been thinking of deleting UA-cam as well but for a period of time and download it at the end of the week or something like that
@@0Catbee I would be interested to hear how it goes, I’ve lived successfully without all forms of social media except UA-cam (continually). It’s been the one I haven’t remained disciplined to let go of even for a little period of time
Every once in a while I set down to redetermine the interests I will put time into And I categorize the interests by a bunch of parameters One of them is if the interest source ( for example social media, friends, books)
On the seasonality point, I think it's only fairly recently that our work and lives have moved away from "seasonality". Pre-industrial age, there were quite often cycles to how people lived, often based around seasons. Maybe that's something that we instinctively crave, but miss due to the sameness of our jobs and such. Moving that concept of a rhythm or cycle to our hobbies could bring back something we are subconsciously craving to our routines.
Interesting point, and I can totally see that. We had seasons of harvest, stock, work, rest etc -even with all the food we ate and the jobs we would perform. Nowadays, it's not necessary.
When you mentioned both people doing different hobbies in the same room, this is parallel play. It's something i do all the time with my boyfriend, for example i read, he plays video games. Its something from child development, children learning to work with others will play in the same space, but not directly with each other.
The fact you started describing the things i have learnt from my own experiences gives me hope in finding other people who have reached similar conclusions to mine. Great video.
Anyone who's been juggling interests long enough probably has caught on to most of this. It's a great video I just wish I had had it five years ago when it would have been most useful to me!
My problem is my job makes me hate my life. I'm in such a negative headspace after work and exhausted that I just lay in bed sometimes.. not even watching tv or browsing my phone. Just laying in bed, awake. I don't know what's wrong with me but I've always wanted to do my own thing, be successful so I don't have to work for someone else. I haven't worked on anything for myself in months.
it's really hard, and sometimes I feel like I try to engage with the hobby simply with passive action (like watching a lot of UA-cam, or playing the audiobook/podcast). When it comes to feeling like doing x hobby, though, regardless of time slot or not the drive just isn't there to make me get started. We're all battling this together it seems HAHAHA
I used to feel the same when I was studying. Now I have a part-time, super chill job that gives me enough money to live and have some hobbies while taking me almost 0 energy and not so much time. I practically feel like I don't have a real job, and that makes me very happy even if that job is not challenging or doesn't offer any possible evolution. I work on my hobbies in my large amount of free time and maybe one day I'll be able to not work anymore or maybe I'll have to do that small job my whole life while still having lots of free time for me. You have the choice. If you don't like your job right now, try something else.
This was a great video! As a mom who has a full time job, 2 young children, a spouse, a UA-cam channel and many interests, all the points and advice you made were spot on. With transitions in life, just like the seasons, we have to keep re-arranging our creative activities around our energy and responsibilities. I noticed this especially when I entered my 40s because our bodies are starting to slowly age. But overall, keeping our creative hobbies in our lives keeps us refreshed and alive. Glad the algorithm brought your channel to me 😊
I just want to thank you. I have always felt guilty for being tired, in the past few months your videos have showed me, how can I be a better me, without burning my self up, and for that I am gratefull to you.
My hobbies are carrying me through university. Without the time to just relax and enjoy a book or play the guitar, my studies would be a disaster. Great video!
When I was undergrad I was feeling guilty whenever I did my hobbies. I would stop and try to study. In most cases I just couldn't focus properly. I eventually barely stopped myself from ending my life. I talked to my mom and a day after I was in the psychiatric hospital. It helped me get my priorities straight. I started writing again and also started to crochet. It helped me so much to write about how I felt, what I did, what I wanted and what others wanted from me. When I would get sad I would continue with my crochet projects. I believe those hobbies saved my life. I am in a much better place now. I just needed to be reminded because I have started to do my hobbies more rarely lately because I'm stressed. Remembering what happened to me years ago is a great wake up call. Thanks for reminding me. 😊 Tomorrow after doing what needs to be done I will do one of those hobbies. Lately I also want to start a another one. I think that waiting for the right moment is not a great idea because when I am done with this another thing might pop up. That is it. I will need an hour and a half tomorrow for the boring thing that needs to be done. Then I will either write or crochet. Thanks again dear internet stranger! This is exactly what I needed to read.🤗
You’re consistently one of the only “self improvement” and “reading” UA-camrs who’s advice and videos seem genuine, authentic, and unpretentious. Keep it up!
I've also started noticing my energy levels throughout my day lately, and acting accordingly. Works wonders. Thank you for expanding and sorting out everything for me. Great work
18:45 there's a similar concept that a lot of autistic people take part in to bond socially with other people (it's not part of the official diagnostic criteria or anything, but still more common than in neurotypical people): it's called parallel play, where you spend time with another person in the same space, but doing unrelated activities. One might be reading, the other might be drawing, for example. Sometimes you chat/make a comment about what you or the other person are doing, but both are free to partake in their own activity without feeling the obligation to engage in prolonged, uninterrupted conversation.
This channel seems completely different from other UA-cam channels. It feels like he is talking facts instead of making us do things. And his point always feels right.
I have been close to burn out lately, so I decided to take a day off everything and while reconnecting with myself everything you mentioned came to me. It's crazy that you made a video just hours after that.
Money is a big bummer for me since everything I do requires a budget in one way or another. Analog Photography? Requires buying film. Painting? Gotta buy the paint. Climbing? Requires buying the rock climbing gear... It sucks that literally everything has been commercialised these days. Everything is a commodity:/
I wanted to try tanning hides and taxidermy but i aint got room or money for buckets of chemicals 😂 or freezer space for random corpses of animals hahaha
I mean, if someone else made the tools, then you always had to pay back someway, be it with trade of skills or items or money. You can make some paints almost completely out of home stuff, or you save up penny by penny for something if you really want it. No-one is entitled to anothers labour(or product), excluding willing charitable giving. You make do with what you have, or you make it so you have something, even if it takes years or decades.
im sure there are budget friendly ways to still pursue ur hobbies like photography phone camera will do (train your composition and motif catching, play with light settings and lenses if ur phone got different ones) and climbing up can go to small climbing halls n painting u can buy cheap paints
I find that when you’re constrained with a budget, you might find the most creative ways to follow your passion. Find creative ways to paint or cheap ways. Climbing gear can be a one time investment a lot of times. You could start off just bouldering so you only need shoes and chalk. Photography, get a cheap point and shoot camera and maximize the camera with how the tool is and be as creative with it as you can be.
I always tell people I have too many hobbies to count on 5 hands, and yet it my day-to-day life, I've notice that I'm not really doing any of them. I'm at a fairly low point in my life rn, being a jr in high school, and I've noticed that I kind of hate how much stuff I'm not doing. My schedule boils down to: wake up at 6:45 go to school come home around 3:00 and then be on my phone/computer for the rest of the day. I've decided that imma go and do something. I always complain that I need a job to buy stuff for me to get into my hobbies, but, I already have stuff for other hobbies that I want to do. Time to time manage tf outta my life
This video is probably one of the most densely packed with valuable content I've seen in quite some time. Both you and this nice community have perspectives on the use of time that I had never thought of before, as well as lots of great advice. Thank you all so much :)
I was juggling work and studies for a couple of years and started rising at 4 or 5 in the morning to work on my thesis; I knew I wouldn't have the energy in the afternoon. Since then I have kept rising at 5 to read the difficult books that make me a better professional. Doing that, I arrive at work already feeling the day has been successful, which has lowered my stress levels immensely.
You have put to words what I have been trying to understand all this time. Wonderful work! Regarding "time management", we should take a look to the same polymaths we revere. It will be easy to find they neither did manage their time (mostly). Rather, it were good habits that changed the game in the long run. Da Vinci had records of his "routines", and they mostly comprised habits and selfcare (such as drinking water first thing in the morning). Heck, even Newton was recognized for staying hours sitting in his bed just thinking. It is not that their work was sporadic, but it wasn't self-imposed in a way that would hinder their enthusiasm.
Hey i'm a video editor and i think this video deserve a praise.... good and smooth storytelling not too much vfx not too many sound vfx and even no music in the bg to helps us focus damn thanks alot bro, i hate how the new youtuber now just wanted a highly super fast paced edited to fry our ADHD
Illustration and painting are the only hobbies that ever really stuck for me. They are the only hobbies that are a constant. Others like knitting or sewing come and go. When they come though, it's the only thing I'll do, and next thing I know my sewing machine has occupied my desk and I'm fixing everyone's clothes and making my whole wardrobe (I get bored after one dress).
Bro, I literally created a channel just to express gratitude for every bit of content you are doing. This is what I need, its' incredibly cool, I am you fan now. Thank you master. It's so relaxing and great to watch. Love it.
As someone who has upwards of six projects going on at once I find it helpful to keep a visual account (lists, charts, pictures) of where I am in each process on hand at all times. That way whenever I feel overwhelmed, bored, or I’ve got extra time or energy I have an easy way to switch what I’m working on. It keeps my work fresh, I don’t have rely on my memory to prioritize tasks, and I can always refer back to it
Ma guy... I've spent literally hours and hours on "productive" and "helpful" UA-cam and now you're telling me it's this simple? This was the best, most soothing and useful video I've seen this month. I'll definately make sure to stick around man. Your advice is deeply apreciated and I'll try to implement it from now on. Maybe my hobbies will start feeling like hobbies again instead of burnout fuel
These were absolutely fantastic takes on this very common topic, almost scrolled past cause I’ve watched so many of these, glad I didn’t. Specifically the points about relationships hit home. Thank you!
One point that maybe wasn't mentioned or I just missed, because I watched the video in 2 parts - don't sacrifice sleep over fullfilling the tasks that you scheduled for the day. It's way better to sleep enough hours, don't do everything you wanted and commit to the next day fully recovered and rested, then carry lost hours of sleep over the next days. You can do it once if you have some deadline or you just forgot about time because you had been locked in, but never ever do it day after day - it will catch you ;) Just my thought, maybe someone will find it useful. Overall great stuff! Video that actually helps for most people, not pretending that everyone has a blank canvas of day to fill, but a very realistic approach. Keep up the good work!
I found Odaysseas a few days ago, and I cannot stop watching videos. While the Cring and nonrealistic videos are Ubiquitous on UA-cam, the reality found here is just very chilling and unmatched. Thanks, English lad
You feel like a kindred soul. Even though we don’t know each other. Thank you for the content you create. Just watched a couple of videos but the value is tangible. Yes this is entertainment, but it’s also really providing value.
This is by far the most nuanced and grounded take on the topic i have ever seen. I expected the usual bullshit, "wake up at 5:00 am and go for a run" kind of shit. You are the first ever that is acknowledging the real life conditions we must go through. Subscribed instantly, you got yourself a new fan
Money means nothing if you don't have time for yourself, same with every aspect of our lives. If you have money, buy time, if you have beloved ones, make time for them but remember yourself, and like this for everything. Life is about balance, with that in mind you'll have time for what's important. Pd.: your video is such a great advise!
Thank you so much for creating this. I'm honestly tired of hearing people talk about time management like it's some effortless skill or suggesting a schedule morning to night like it's a realistic thing, as if everyone can follow through it. The truth is, it's only easy when you're in a comfortable space, not constantly aware of how every second is slipping away. Time management becomes a lot more challenging when you're juggling stress, pressure, or simply trying to keep up. It’s not just a matter of planning, it’s about being in a mental state where managing time doesn’t feel like an overwhelming burden.
I have a lot of hobbies I'm trying to organize and prioritize, and your videos are helping me do that! Writing - Video essay scripts for my channel - Fiction writing for a fantasy book - Writing kids books starring my kids, written for them Video games: - Get through my backlog! 😅 Exercise: - Play basketball Cooking: - Possibly sell BBQ professionally Possibly sell baked goods professionally Read: - Read parenting books - Read fiction books - Read therapy books - Read Bible
I enjoy your videos very much because they don't stop at giving good advice. They also make me reflect upon my choices. Always insightful. You are a good influence.
This is eating me alive lately, i got so many things that i am interested in, and want to learn, and i am ending up learning not even one skill properly
Thank you for making this video😊🙏 I cannot appreciate it anymore😊🙏 So many great points was mentioned, and I cannot agree more😊 I think we should find out what our lives are truly about, and take the necessary actions in order to fulfill the unique purpose we feel we are endowed with despite any challenges and obstacles😊🤝🙏👍
This was so relieving to hear. I wanted to be a writer since I was a little kid, but it broke my heart to try to sit down after the emotional turmoil of dealing with college and then working and not be able to focus on writing. I burnt myself out severely and ended up giving it up because it caused too much stress and I wasn't able to do it. I've been focusing on other hobbies and have felt a lot better because many of them require tactile work and are very different from my job. It explains so much.
It's interesting how your insights are always new and original. Like, I'll be expecting advice along the lines of "create a schedule," and end up getting an entirely new perspective on time and energy. Keep it up!
IDK about others, but to me it's a very particular kind of stress, I am stuck living with people who make me feel like a prisoner and bully me, so I actively avoid reality....it's exhausting and IDK when I'll beable to move out
this is literally why i havent been able to be consistent with youtube but i also have undiagnosed adhd so sometimes i wanna write on substack, or focus on my rave photography or literally anything
This is such a great video that helped me rethink my relationship with my hobbies. I like the examples that you used to show how you make time for different hobbies since I can relate it to my own hobbies.
besides the point which is valid, I find camping to be the most relaxing hobby ever, if you are experienced it takes you 30-60 minutes to setup then you are left with so much dead time. For planning I don't know how other campers do it, but all my gear is in a specific corner of the storage space of my house and I just load them onto a car without any planning. I even have a list in the works with all the food that I could get that work in a camping setup
depression is really getting in the way with my desire to be creative again. all i want is to be making the best work i've ever made, but i cant mentally and physically take myself there like i used to
It wasn’t until I began to lose my vision that I started to appreciate The energy and focus certain tasks required. There are times now choose between what I think I want to do and something else based on how much focus is required and how much energy do I have right now
You touched on many issues that I face while pursuing my hobbies. Some of the points you mentioned I never realised before. 🤔 Now its makes why I struggle with time management.
We make time for what we love. I always had time for hobbies and fun during university and just did the basics on studying. I've craved to schedule my life and follow a routine but I realized with ADHD that wasn't gonna be the case, though I tried for many years and feeling frustrated every time that fails. My issue is energy and motivation. With motivation it's about mindfulness and imagining why I wanted to start the hobby and imagining myself doing it and being that. The energy levels are another beast.. I haven't found a trick that works consistently but physical activity first thing in the morning has been good
I feel so seen. So many interests and hobbies, and absolutely -100% energy by the time I get home and only have enough brainspace for easier accessible hobbies like video games. But I want to paint! Journal! Crafts! Something else! This video is helpful to reframe my thinking and all 👀
As a teenager who have a lot of time on the things that I like for me I would say that "too many interest, not enough resources" especially when it comes on financial things
While I’m getting my UA-cam channel off the ground, I’m realizing that time management, regardless of how cliché, is *super important.* Also, As you alluded to earlier, Having a general plan of attack that you are wanting to get done when you study or practice, helps a lot. Good vid.
Great video, love the animations/classical images, content always great value! I’ve limited who and what I watch on UA-cam, it was such a time suck, and if I was tired I’d always default to that. Limiting it left me with so much more time for hobbies, but I still get to follow a few favourites!
One major observation I've made. It's all about energy flow. No energy = no time putting forth towards hobbies. It all depends on the frequency in which you are able to commit to hobbies. Do I be a schizophrenic and constantly shift my attention every nanosecond constantly worrying? Or do I say no to 95% of everything and focus on the few things that actually really matter? How does one find what the right thing would be at the time, and take into consideration everything you're saying no to along with everything you are saying yes to? Maybe it takes knowing what season of life you are in to determine what season of hobby you can jump into.
One powerful method to stick to a new hobby is to finde someone who cares about what you are doing. It can be anyone. In that case you have an inner duty to continue pursuing your passion no matter what. Also sometimes you create combination of hobbies: for instance, you love learning languages and read - it's wonderful combination; you love audibooks and bycicles - also of wonderful combination. I have a formula: physical hooby {Bycicle, run, walking, heavey liftining, etc.} are great combinators to language learning or memory training.
About money and time, I think saving money and using cheap tools (eg: phone camera) can be a more efficient option immediately. A business is a whole thing
I kid you not, the first tip is such a game changer I got physically dizzy when i heard it, straight up in awe while remembering the times i used this tip unconsciously in the past. Goldmine video. will come back to watch the rest...
It's hard to do everything you want when you work from 8 to 5. My recommendation to everyone with that problem is to use your mornings to tidy up everything, so when you come back from work, you have a clean space to make yourself comfortable. Don't fall asleep late. After that, divide exercise into three sessions on weekdays, pairing each exercise day with a light hobby. Then, dedicate two weekdays to more intense hobbies or challenging activities like, in my case, guitar playing and independent work. That’s really enough. Use your weekends wisely-don’t go out binge drinking on Friday night, or you’ll lose Saturday, for example. And don’t neglect your social life. Reserve weekends to connect with friends and family. And please, please reduce your social media use, or better yet, stop using it altogether. You do lose precious time on it, and you don’t even rest; on the contrary, you end up feeling more tired and numb. Instead, read a poem, a book, or let yourself get bored to find motivation to do something meaningful. Thanks for the video, Odysseas. Thanks for the video, Odysseas. A very insightful outlook on the human reality of time management.
19:21 I think the word that you're saying is parallel play I agree with the sentiment that hobbies are quite expensive and you need more time to do them. Instead of enjoying them, it burdens you.
as for the 'monetising your hobby stuff' sinceso many give it for many people that can kill the enjoyment that the hobby gave you so dont feel like you 'have' to do it
Being lost without seeing a clear path to the finish line is what frustrates me the most. My hobbies tend to be very chaotically organised, or sometimes i don't even plan at all. For instance, I bought a 130€ skateboard a year ago, and I just skated... How much? 2 months? Drawing is also one of my hobbies, but I'm also unable to plan when to learn, I just do it whenever I feel like it, same as reading or writing.
Just found your channel and I love the feel of your videos. I don't find many UA-camrs that focus on hobbies. I love the advice you give. You have a new sub!

@@leafarin9352 what do you do?
Man, your channel is the gift that keeps on giving!
Real grateful for this, thank you
This was a great video!
Tomorrow after doing what needs to be done I will do one of those hobbies.
Love your videos, they are all high quality and well thought out. Thank you for inspiring us.
Thanks, I really appreciate this
This channel seems completely different from other UA-cam channels. It feels like he is talking facts instead of making us do things. And his point always feels right.
Thank you, I'm grateful you think so
I have been close to burn out lately, so I decided to take a day off everything and while reconnecting with myself everything you mentioned came to me. It's crazy that you made a video just hours after that.
Love it, and rest like that is good
i'm so glad i found your channel today.. God bless you.
Really appreciate it, thank you and welcome.
I mean, I guess you could paint with your coffee grounds if you really wanted to.
Thank you, and it's true -I get half my ideas from the comments at this rate. Clever people.
That's the video I needed for this semester on college
Best of luck! It's not easy but there's always a way.
That's impressive stuff, love it. Early wins are very underrated, exactly as you say.
This video is like tailor-made for me. I will watch it later when I have the strength. I will save it for now.
Hope you enjoy
So? Did you find the strength to watch it?
@@v1sqOmg I forgot thanks for the reminder i will watch it now lol
Just found your channel loving the talking points, I thing the term you were looking for is Parallel play 18:40
thanks for such a masterpiece. long time waiting for it.
Much appreciated, thank you
Hey i'm a video editor and i think this video deserve a praise....
good and smooth storytelling
not too much vfx
not too many sound vfx and even no music in the bg to helps us focus
damn thanks alot bro, i hate how the new youtuber now just wanted a highly super fast paced edited to fry our ADHD
I love all the infographics in the video and classic paintings commentary, it makes video more interesting and understandable.
Thanks, this one was edited by Shin over at presage.media and he did a great job.
Would love to see an updated video about obsidian.
Keep up the great work
Thanks, and will do some time
For sure we have to learn to listen to our body. Thank you for sharing🙏
Bro, I literally created a channel just to express gratitude for every bit of content you are doing. This is what I need, its' incredibly cool, I am you fan now. Thank you master. It's so relaxing and great to watch. Love it.
Real grateful to hear that, thank you.
This is really helpful; there are indeed a lot of videos telling people to get a hobby but not enough information on how to manage them. Thank you! 😊
Much appreciated, thank you
As someone who has upwards of six projects going on at once I find it helpful to keep a visual account (lists, charts, pictures) of where I am in each process on hand at all times.
Cheers my friend, I really appreciate it. Welcome!
These were absolutely fantastic takes on this very common topic, almost scrolled past cause I’ve watched so many of these, glad I didn’t. Specifically the points about relationships hit home. Thank you!
Thank you, that means a lot to hear!
Thanks man, I really appreciate this
WOW 2 vids in a day, can't be real .
As always, appreciate it bro
Cheers man, I got impatient and just had to cheekily drop it early.
You feel like a kindred soul. Even though we don’t know each other. Thank you for the content you create. Just watched a couple of videos but the value is tangible. Yes this is entertainment, but it’s also really providing value.
Grateful for this, thank you
This is by far the most nuanced and grounded take on the topic i have ever seen. I expected the usual bullshit, "wake up at 5:00 am and go for a run" kind of shit.
You are the first ever that is acknowledging the real life conditions we must go through. Subscribed instantly, you got yourself a new fan
Thanks, really grateful for this as it's what I was going for.
Would love it if these long episodes were podcasts! Would love to listen on my commute and on walks/runs
Writing
- Video essay scripts for my channel
- Fiction writing for a fantasy book
- Writing kids books starring my kids, written for them
Video games:
- Get through my backlog! 😅
Exercise:
- Play basketball
Cooking:
- Possibly sell BBQ professionally
Possibly sell baked goods professionally
Read:
- Read parenting books
- Read fiction books
- Read therapy books
- Read Bible
Lovely, balanced set. I'm grateful to hear it too, best wishes.
Actually, the best video that i've seen on these theme. Thank you, so much
So grateful to hear this, thanks
I enjoy your videos very much because they don't stop at giving good advice. They also make me reflect upon my choices. Always insightful.
You are a good influence.
Thanks man, really appreciate this -best of luck to you too.
I really like your editing style and your tips are super useful! Thank you for this video :)
Thanks, I really appreciate it
Love this! It feels like a more elaborate answer to one of my comments in your previous video, and I highly appreciate it. You made my day!
Grateful to hear this, and it was a long time coming. Thanks!
This is eating me alive lately, i got so many things that i am interested in, and want to learn, and i am ending up learning not even one skill properly
Thank you for making this video😊🙏
I cannot appreciate it anymore😊🙏
So many great points was mentioned, and I cannot agree more😊
I think we should find out what our lives are truly about, and take the necessary actions in order to fulfill the unique purpose we feel we are endowed with despite any challenges and obstacles😊🤝🙏👍
I love the calm and clean audio - a joy to watch.
Thanks, I really appreciate it
It's interesting how your insights are always new and original. Like, I'll be expecting advice along the lines of "create a schedule," and end up getting an entirely new perspective on time and energy. Keep it up!
IDK about others, but to me it's a very particular kind of stress, I am stuck living with people who make me feel like a prisoner and bully me, so I actively avoid reality....it's exhausting and IDK when I'll beable to move out
I'm just in love with your character on youtube 😅 Deep voice, deep thoughts... nectar to my ears
this is literally why i havent been able to be consistent with youtube but i also have undiagnosed adhd so sometimes i wanna write on substack, or focus on my rave photography or literally anything
This is such a great video that helped me rethink my relationship with my hobbies. I like the examples that you used to show how you make time for different hobbies since I can relate it to my own hobbies.
That's the best definition of a generalist!
Very motivating! Thank you! Energy lvl management vs time management is a very good point.
besides the point which is valid, I find camping to be the most relaxing hobby ever, if you are experienced it takes you 30-60 minutes to setup then you are left with so much dead time.
For planning I don't know how other campers do it, but all my gear is in a specific corner of the storage space of my house and I just load them onto a car without any planning. I even have a list in the works with all the food that I could get that work in a camping setup
Love the camera set up, the editing, etc. Thank you for this free content
Thanks, real glad to hear it
depression is really getting in the way with my desire to be creative again. all i want is to be making the best work i've ever made, but i cant mentally and physically take myself there like i used to
It wasn’t until I began to lose my vision that I started to appreciate The energy and focus certain tasks required. There are times now choose between what I think I want to do and something else based on how much focus is required and how much energy do I have right now
You touched on many issues that I face while pursuing my hobbies. Some of the points you mentioned I never realised before. 🤔 Now its makes why I struggle with time management.
Thank you for this video, it was so interesting for me ! I wish you all the best ❤
Cheers, I appreciate it
We make time for what we love. I haven't found a trick that works consistently but physical activity first thing in the morning has been good
That's a good one. It's hard to do anything when your body feels off.
I feel so seen. So many interests and hobbies, and absolutely -100% energy by the time I get home and only have enough brainspace for easier accessible hobbies like video games. But I want to paint! Journal! Crafts! Something else! This video is helpful to reframe my thinking and all 👀
It's a tough one. Hope you can find the harmony you're looking for -best of luck.
As a teenager who have a lot of time on the things that I like for me I would say that "too many interest, not enough resources" especially when it comes on financial things
While I’m getting my UA-cam channel off the ground, I’m realizing that time management, regardless of how cliché, is *super important.*
Also,
As you alluded to earlier,
Having a general plan of attack that you are wanting to get done when you study or practice, helps a lot.
Good vid.
Very true, and thanks too
You’re so real thanks for the insight!!
I appreciate it, thanks
This channel gives me excitement to pursue my interests, great stuff bro
Always love that spirit, cheers man
thank you! ❤
Much appreciated
One powerful method to stick to a new hobby is to finde someone who cares about what you are doing. It can be anyone. In that case you have an inner duty to continue pursuing your passion no matter what. Also sometimes you create combination of hobbies: for instance, you love learning languages and read - it's wonderful combination; you love audibooks and bycicles - also of wonderful combination. I have a formula: physical hooby {Bycicle, run, walking, heavey liftining, etc.} are great combinators to language learning or memory training.
Have been watching your videos for quite some time. I find it quite helpful, really. Hope to see more :)
I'm grateful to hear it, thank you. Plenty more to come!
About money and time, I think saving money and using cheap tools (eg: phone camera) can be a more efficient option immediately. A business is a whole thing
Very true, there's usually an affordable but reliable set that each hobby can claim.
Great video. Makes me think about where my energy is going after work
Thanks, and it's a tricky one but I hope it goes well for you.
I kid you not, the first tip is such a game changer I got physically dizzy when i heard it, straight up in awe while remembering the times i used this tip unconsciously in the past. Goldmine video. will come back to watch the rest...
Thanks, really glad you liked it. It was a hard hitter when I first heard it too.
Loved this video! For a moment I thought you had walked among my thoughts and cherry picked them 😂 bravo! You made some great points 🌼
Thanks, I really appreciate this
Thank you for the super interesting presentation
some of the things you said just make me wanna cry for no reason at all, anyone else feels like this?
I hope in the best of ways. My good wishes to you.
19:21 I think the word that you're saying is parallel play
I agree with the sentiment that hobbies are quite expensive and you need more time to do them. Instead of enjoying them, it burdens you.
It was exactly that, thank you
You somehow always give me motivation
Love to hear it!
I have a wife and son but fortunately, I can sit two hours and a half three times a week to get to work in public transport so I can read a lot!
amazingly insightful video. thanks man
Thanks so much
"Too many interests, not enough time" hits hard for me
Bro I love ya. Rly. You are dot of peace in these wild waves the internet. thx for video
Cheers man, I appreciate it
as for the 'monetising your hobby stuff' sinceso many give it for many people that can kill the enjoyment that the hobby gave you so dont feel like you 'have' to do it
I had to double check I was watching at 2X and yes I am
Being lost without seeing a clear path to the finish line is what frustrates me the most. My hobbies tend to be very chaotically organised, or sometimes i don't even plan at all. For instance, I bought a 130€ skateboard a year ago, and I just skated... How much? 2 months?
Drawing is also one of my hobbies, but I'm also unable to plan when to learn, I just do it whenever I feel like it, same as reading or writing.
Just found your channel and I love the feel of your videos. I don't find many UA-camrs that focus on hobbies. I love the advice you give. You have a new sub!
I'll be binging some of your videos 👀
Thanks, and welcome!
