Lightning Talk: C++ and the Next Generation: How to Support Women and Families in Tech - Sara Boulé - CppCon 2023
    github.com/CppCon/CppCon2023
We have a problem in Tech. Statistically speaking, women make up 27% of the workforce in Tech, and half of women in tech drop out by the age of 35. What are some steps and strategies that we can take as a community to support our colleagues success.

I am currently a Lead SW Engineer at Laerdal Labs, DC. We provide solutions and tooling for hospitals, universities, first responders to help save lives and improve patient outcomes.
I am the one with a baby strapped to me. Come say hi! I don't bite (although she might).

There is surprisingly little mentorship as people move from individual contributor to a lead/manager in most engineering groups. This is a great talk to help highlight some of the challenges others face and some nice insights on how to be more inclusive as people take on more leadership roles. Thank you for sharing.

I'm all for seeing more women around anywhere I work. Progress on that front seemed to be going well back in the 1980's early 90's. I really wonder why it's a big deal to day still.
But really, foisting C++ on women and children is cruel and unusual punishment.

What does this have to do with C++?

This is a very serious issue that should be solved as soon as possible.

It is always a blessing when people are not forced into careers that do not suit their life situation and disposition.

What compels americans to force politics into everything? I watch this channel to get up to date with C++, not to watch people who have victim complexes and point out non-existing problems.

Come on, now the C++ is a place for political discourses? Im here to learn about C++ and programming patterns, not social and political issues. We could also talk about vacations, extra hours, and so many interesting themes but here is not the place.
Ah, an coding should choose the best coders, they can be women, men, trans, or any kind, but based in their ability, not in their genitalia o being "diverse". Being "diverse" doesn't make a code compile.
