  • Welcome to another video!
In this one I try my first ever, home grown figs!
I've never had a fresh fig before, only in fig bars.
So this was exciting to try out!
The variety is a "Chicago Hardy Fig", which is a common fig meaning it doesn't need another fig to pollinate is, which also means the "opening" I refer to in the video is barely open or not open at all, meaning insects and rainwater can't enter the fruit, keeping them fresh longer.
    Thank you for watching!

That is the best intro ever. Reminds me of fall as a child.

Thank you! I like it too, I'll make sure to use it again during autumn season.

U need to ripen even longer with more heat to get rid of the green flavor

Makes sense, and I'll try and leave them longer. In the PNW where I live you can't wait too long however, as by the time they ripen is also when the rainy season starts which will rot them quick.

how do you stop rabbits and squires from eating fruit.

There's loads of rabbits around, and squirrels in the forest park across the street but somehow I've been lucky on them not eating the fruit.
People generally cage/net fruit that's being eaten though.

That’s the first time I’ve ever heard “green bean flavor” but I 100% agree with that haha

I'm very glad to hear that, lol! I felt a little weird saying it since it seems so weird in a fruit. But the flavor is so unmistakable!

Can these survive snow frost? How did you keep the tree alive in frost climate
