My First Time Reaction to League of Legends OST K/DA POP/STARS Live! Since I first heard a song from K/DA I have been excited to react to this video knowing that they perform live on stage with their in-game avatars! How did they even do this? The live performance where people can actually see what we're seeing in the video is the opening ceromony for worlds 2019 in Paris. Should definetly check it out, 2019 is for me the best opening ceremony where songs are sung live _(and I'm not saying this because I'm Frech, I swear)_ . Worlds 2021 were also very nice, but it's not made live, and it is based on Arcane; an other one to react to :) .
And yes, in this live version of POP/STARS, people could see the avatars, but only on the screens.
I just hope he check it out in full and not by song.
Unlike the 2019 Worlds where the crowd COULD see EVERYTHING on the stage from ANY ANGLE ANY SEAT! I highly recommend watching the opening show and THEN the behind the scenes. Really gives you a true appreciation of all the work that goes in there.

The problem with the 2020 and forward is the pandemic, they couldn't prepare so well, so...
‘Villain’ is my favourite K/DA song.
Riot made it clear during their comeback that they’re not afraid to use several different artists to represent one character. It gives them freedom to bring back with these skinlines (and the associated music) at any given point. And K/DA makes too much money for them not to. As far as I know, Ahri’s character has an entire girl group representing her single voice in ‘I’ll Show You’. The only character whose voice they might be worried about replacing is Akali’s. Soyeon seems to have a strong fan base that they may be too shy to upset.
Sure other people will tell you the same - the K/DA avatars were augmented reality, done in real time (i.e. not added later) - in order to see them, you either had to watch the big screens, or through a phone app, or some people in the centre of the crowd had special glasses. The girls also did the motion capture for the avatars. And if Madison Beer looked terrified, she was only 18 at the time. (The previous year they did an AR dragon!)

Other league songs would be nice: Awaken, Warriors, Rise, Legends never die, The Call, Get Jinxed, etc. They are all amazing songs. (Fav character: Jhin)
Maybe even some themes or champion loading screenes would've been nice to react to even if only a few of them.

Explaining how the avatars were there:
They were "augmented reality" in, which means, the rendering of the CGI was added live to the video feed and used visual cues on the stage to properly position the 3D renders in the video.
Essentially, people there didn't see them on stage, by they saw them live in the screens behind the stage as if they were actually there but invisible to their eyes.
Meanwhile, the 2019 Worlds opening used a holographic transparent projection screen, similar to the one used to make the Tupac show, so that the people there actually saw virtual characters on stage live, so you might wish to check that one too.
Arcane is Amazing and Bea Miller's song Playground is so good. The Series is SO worth watching!! My teens and I watched it together and we are all awaiting the 2nd season.

I love the little smile you have when Soyeon and Miyeon come on stage. Their years of training show in that they just naturally know how to command the stage.
What I'm curious about, and I've never seen anything on it, is what Madison Beer and Jiara Burns thought about adapting to Kpop performiing. It's muscle memory for S & M but you can tell Beer and Burns are just a little off in not focusing on projecting to the audience like our Idle girls. I remember Lisa grumping at her trainees to Smile!!! and make eye contact with the audience even while they trying to perform their moves and sing. That's what those years of training do for you. Burns and Beer don't have it and it shows in little ways, but they didn't do a bad job overall...
I just so fucking love this song, the MV and live performance...(Now if Riot would only get the damn Akali mask back in stock...)
MiHoYo is also a game company very famous for their songs. They're the ones behind Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd (very famous mobile game). Genshin Impact music is mostly classical and soundtracks I believe, however, Honkai Impact has a very wide range of songs from rock, classical, traditional, ect... They did an online concert not long ago on UA-cam for Honkai. That was definitely an incredible experience worth checking out. I don't know any other game company as much invested in music as Riot and Mihoyo tho !
Between the two Honkai has the better range of music to me, might be because it’s been out much longer though
(G)I-DLE debuted on May 2018, and K/DA debuted in November 2018. These were both successful debuts for IDLE! Soyeon and Miyeon were actually discovered and wanted by Riot Games to join K/DA even before they debuted as IDLE.
They used Augmented Reality (AR) for this, and the audience cannot see it with naked eyes, but only thru screens, like the one on their back. This is the same tech used in some games like PokemonGO!
Also, for the avatars, Soyeon and Miyeon did motion capture so yeah, they were the ones dancing on stage along side with their real selves. Not sure with Madison Beer and Jaira Burns tho, but I think they also did.
Madison Beer (the one singing at 4:18, and also the member singing "Villain"), is actually one of my favorite western artists so i will always recommend her!!
Her debut Album "Life Support" is one of my favorites in all of music and I was lucky enough to see her on tour this year.
I think she's got a really unique and amazing voice, and very interesting vocal effects used in her songs.
Singles I recommend are definitely Selfish, Dear Society, Good in goodbye and the songs Sour Times and Follow the White Rabbit from her album.
Would love a reaction to one of those, but you got a regular viewer in me nevertheless!

Seraphine is a champion and also guest starred on K/da More but she did a cover of Pop/Stars that is very different. I can't tell which version I like more. I recommend checking her out. :) She has a few covers actually.

For both 2017 and 2018 the animation was only visible on screen and on the broadcast. For 2019 the animations were visible live on stage. The League of Legends World Championships is one of the largest sporting events (not just esports) in the world, drawing more viewers globally than the Superbowl.
I remember when Seraphine was reveal to be part of K/DA before the MV was come out, the fan angry at Riot bcoz they dont want any members change (the char).
I think you can see the history of K/DA in I'LL SHOW YOU MV on how Ahri, the leader create the team with other members.
Edited. I just found that K/DA even have their own kprofile for each members, which usually for kpop idol.
We're nearing another Worlds event this year. 2022 Worlds might be the biggest one yet since they have a lot to give back to the actual crowd that will be attending LIVE this year. The music video will also be featuring a few new faces as well cuz of the results from the summer split competition that recently ended not too long ago this month. So I hope you'll be reacting to it when they release it around October something.
Also to answer your last question, NO OTHER competitive games in eSports has put this amount of effort and talents into making music as much as League of Legends has EVERY SINGLE YEAR :D
Well, if you think this is crazy (and it is), you are not prepared for the world championships opening of 2019. This was INSANE.
I don't remember if you reacted to "True Damage - Giants" from league of Legends but they opened the ceremony with this and you should react to that, both Music video and opening ceremony !

You absolutely must watch the entire Opening Ceremonies, don't break it up by Song selection, you miss out on all the hype and atmosphere by breaking it up!
Yes, this was done with augmented reality, but that doesn't really tell you how it was done. If you've seen the down lines they put on the field on a football game or things like that this is roughly the same though with a few things that make this easier.
They knew the exact layout of the stage well in advance and built a digital replica including the surface material for the areas they would be dancing on. They also knew in advance the lighting setup and created a digital replica of that as well. Choreography and camera moves were mapped out well in advance as well (roughly).
The 3d models were redone as lower poly versions that could be much more easily rendered in real time and then the motion capture performances rigged to the models.
Now we get to the actual performance. The software tracks the real stage and computes where to put the digital camera to match up with the digital stage. Now the avatars are added in. And a shadow/light pass to add their reflections and shadows to the stage surface (this is missing in a later live performances and makes them feel disconnected from the real ground). If the character will be behind another person a real time cut out has to be created so that the 3d characters don't cover up the real people. This final frame image is then sent to the screens and broadcast. Do this 24 times a second et voila. The single most important part of all of this is their shadows and reflections. Without that they look like they are just sort of floating in space without a connection to the world.
Best life performance up to date is still the 2019 world championship opening ceremony :)

League of Legends is now the biggest esports event in the world. They always strive to do sth. no one has ever done before - stand out from other companies and they surely do.
I love this performance and song very much!!
A girlgroup you should also add down your rabbit hole is definitely Loona, they're very talented and every member is amazing in everything. Check out their song "PTT (PAINT THE TOWN)" or "BUTTERFLY", I'm sure you'll love.
The CGI avatars weren't "on stage" but they were there in real time. Rather than using some kind of laser projection for them they were rendered in real time and could be seen overlayed on the screens at the show and on the live stream.
Personally, I am the biggest fan of 'Pop/Stars' since that is how I found (G)I-Dle, whom I now Stan. BUT.... 'More' has a dance video called '1 Million x K/DA' which completely annihilates my brainwaves when I watch it. Cemented my love for Jeon Soyeon, the leader of (G)I-Dle. Soyeon (voices Akali in MV) and Miyeon (voices Ahri in MV) guest star as dancers in the dance video.
I would love for you to fall further down the K-pop rabbit hole with (G)I-Dle, they are an eclectic group who have the rare opportunity to write/produce their own music, which is relatively rare in the female Kpop industry. Their music doesn't fall under the standard 'KPOP' tag.🤘
Personal favorite is villain the visuals are mind breaking and the song was instantly added to my Playlist
Riot is a great music company for sure, cant wait for you to see Drum Go Dum, that song goes so hard for no reason
2019 Opening ceremony is the one if you want so see some cool tech being used, they used holograms so you were able to see characters live and they played with that whole thing quite a lot, it truly is spectacular

POP/STARS will always be my favorite because it’s also so much fun in Beat Saber. Sadly the other K/DA song aren’t officially available.

I wasnt there but as far as I understand it the KDA avatars were there on stage as augmented reality. So you couldnt see them with your eyes but the camera can and there was an app or something so people could see them on their phones if they wanted to. The opening for 2019 was indoors tho where they had an actual setup to project the characters on the stage.
I can highly recommend to watch full opening ceremony everytime you see "worlds song" :)

My favorite league character is never shown in cinematics but they're called Kindred. They take the form of an anthropomorphic lamb and a giant floating head of a wolf and go by their respective names. They represent the duality in death, Lamb being the one to take the life of those whose accepted death with a swift arrow while Wolf devours down on those who flail and run from it.
There's duality in their speech and actions too with Lamb being graceful, her voice pleasant but the words she speaks are dark. Wherein wolf his voice and actions are gruff, savage but has innocence to them, things you'd expect a playful puppy to hear.
They used some AR tech. Some of the viewers had sets on them so they can see it live while the rest of them used the big screen because it is rendered into the screen.
Another game with similar music with League (not orchestra like FF) is Dislyte. Some of my favorite songs from it are "Just Want It, "DX-V12", and "Refuge"
Definitely need to start reacting to all the Worlds songs. Starting with Imagine Dragons Warriors and going each year from there. They are all amazing in their own regard.

League has just grown so big along the years that the events were just this massive. As far as i know the avatars were augmented reality, similar to how Pokemon Go works. You dont see them on stage of you are there, but if you look at the camera shots on screen, thats were you will see them if you are watching live
Final Fantasy had songs starting with Final Fantasy 8, soundtrack wise, all FF had the same music score with different version other than the series's theme song/music that define each from the other,
So, all FF had the same chime, with some theme song/music for each series, and starting with 8, they add songs, usually love songs, with lyrics and pop singers singing, since the technology apparently make it possible, and lately, they just made the game as an interactive movie,

also worth mentioning, when that happened, neither Madison nor Jaira have stood in front of such a massive audience, so they had to rely a lot on the two experienced korean idols to get this done, which is why you see them kind of keeping a eye on those and for that, they did a really good job ;)

yeah these are generally the opening ceremonies for the finals of the world championships, of top level esports play.. u should definitly check out the full videos of the opening ceremonies because thats the experience in itself, try not to look at individual videos such as this because that kind of breaks apart your experience of the full ceremonies, even tho the videos will ofc be longer, and u should definitly check out some of the other ceremonies

Edit: Yes, League of Legends is the most popular game right now to pull in the numbers. They've sold out HUGE stadiums for the worlds (think Superbowl or World Cup): Staples Center, Benz Stadium in Germany, AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France, Incheon Munhak Stadium in South Korea, etc. Previously, it was DOTA and Starcraft that pulled in the same numbers but those games no longer really have a pro scene and are much older games. In 2018, the final was watched by 99.6 million people, breaking 2017's final's viewer record.

3:45 Augmented reality. You could watch the show through an app on the phone and you could see them in real time on the scene. They had something like that but with a big dragon landing on a stage. Cool stuff.

You should react to Arcane. 9 episodes short and it is the only piece of media on this planet I would say is a absolute flawless masterpiece start to finish.

I thought the avatars were an AR thing and anyone with the AR app on their phone could have seen the avatars through their phone's camera.

Favourite character design/gameplay wise has to be Aphelios, but I don't know the lore much at all. Out of the lore I have heard, I gotta say Fiddlesticks is my favourite
Villain is the best to me, and yes the worlds intro in 2019 used holograms and is worth doing for the full intro, its a long one as its three songs. A new one comes out in November I believe it is the 2nd. But yes, this is done each year for the worlds finals for esports. An addition, it is worth it to watch all of the live intros for each year and you can see how it has evolved.
What you describe with the lazer hapen the following year (2019) with "True Damage: GIANT" performance.
What you have here is Augmented Reality: if you watch live with your eyes, you only see the living part of the show, but if you watch the performance live thru a screen (with the event app), or special glasses, you can also see the virtual chatacter. Yes, even during the live performance.
My fav chars are probably: Yuumi (you have to like a magic cat flying around on a book), Evelyn, Katarina
apart from the game, league has extensive lore, my favorite charactors aka champions in that vein are the former fishmonger turned to vengeance through death, pyke, and the second in command in ionia who was slowly corrupted by a weapon with a will, Kayn. there's so many cool league champions, and so many possibilities for shows which could have massive success, as is apparent with their most recent venture, arcane, which goes to show the effort that goes into every facet of this franchise.
yes, esports... It was the final of the World Championship inside one of the biggest stadiums in China, crowd of more than 80.000 people :D that year, League of Legends really stapled themselves as the unrivaled esport GIANT :D
100% check out Arcane, it is even better than the music, and that's a high bar
They are using augmented reality in the characters so if you are wearing a special type of glasses you can see them
Also check out worlds 2019, it's better than this one but you will need to react to the cinematics of all songs performed on stage first, please don't make the mistake of reacting to the live performance before
My favorite character is Akali, but I can't choose between The Baddest, Villain or Drum Go Dum as my favorite song.
Giants was done legit with lasers and special film what costs thousands. With this one though, the crowd couldn't see however when you arrived the staff would give you a app what you could put on your phone and if you used your phone camera with the app you could see the avatars on stage.
I know you react to mainly music but with reacting to all the LoL lately im just waiting for enough people to suggest Arcane and having you watch/react to that 😂 the animation, story and everything is Amazing, its another extension of the LoL world.

No other game developers can compete with Riot Games on this. They are just one of it's kind with these promotions for the game and esports.

I hope you'll check out some songs from "Arcane" like 'enemy,' 'playground' or 'what could have been' since they are also awesome. What could have been is quite emotional though... My favourite character is Jinx (has her own song "get jinxed" which describes her personality quite well and is also one of the main characters in arcane) and Veigar (love his lore (wants to be evil but does more good than harm) :3
LoL esports is bigger than pretty much all normal sport events combined. It pretty much competes with the Olympics in terms of viewer count
